Description about the video:
Using the brush pen is pretty simple..all you need to know or the three things that i really focus on;
-LINE Control
-Line weights
-Practice
1. LINE CONTROL
First thing you need you to know when it comes to inking with a brush pen is LINE CONTROL. And how do you control the line, it’s by controlling the pen and how do you control the pen, by controlling the hand…
You need to have such control over your hands and be able to take the pen where you need it go..not where it goes..and that comes with practice…
So here’s a simple routine I give out to people who are starting out to ink with a brush pen…
Take out a piece of paper and your brush pen and try this….
Draw 6 horizontal straight lines...of uniform width, this is important.
Then draw 6 vertical lines of uniform width.
Then draw curves the same way
Then reverse curves,
Then waves
Longer waves, shorter waves and so on.
So now you have practised uniform line control…
Now we are going to control the pressure of the brush to carry the line weights of those line…
When it comes to the Brush Pen, the more pressure you apply on the paper, the thicker the lines are….
So now, you repeat the same thing that you did with the uniform line width,
And Start PRACTISING LINE WEIGHTS.
Draw 6 horizontal lines from thin to thick
Then vertical from thin to thick
And curves, waves and everything from thin to thick….
Make sure you do all of these with deliberate focus.
What you are doing here learning to create that mind muscle connection and build the skill of line control along with learning to apply the right kind of pressure on the pen.
Next up is the fun part…
the DRAWING
2. LINE WEIGHT
The coolest thing about the brush pen is it ability to create different line variations.
And the question i get most often is...how do you decide where the line needs to be thick and where it need to be thin.
Well it pretty simple….
Take this stick for example and think of this stick as a line you’ve drawn with a brush pen…
If you take this stick bring it closer to you it becomes bigger and thicker...if bring it farther away from you, it becomes smaller and thinner.
The same principle applies to the lines that you are drawing...its an object in 3d space..
With that in mind, a good rule of thumb to follow is, make the lines thick for the objects that are closer to you and make it thin for the objects that are farther away from you…
And also make thick on the shadow areas and make it thin on areas where the light hits the object.
Every drawing that you draw is combination of multiple forms that are on different planes...some parts of that object are closer to you and some parts of it are farther away from you…
The third thing that you need to focus on when it comes to getting better at using the brush pen is
3. PRACTICE.
You have to use the brush pen on a daily basis, use it on your sketches books to ink your sketches, use it daily, mileage, mileage and mileage, is what you need.
Take up a challenge like Inktober or 100 days of sketching and use the brush pen as your main medium.
And trust me, at the end of, YOU WILL GET BETTER.
Happy married life boss, watching you since 2019 when you were young and I was a child. All the very best Keshav :)
2:23 With Apple Pencil Pro or any stylus, same principle muscle control.
5:00 thick, closer. thin, further away.
Analog or digital, be in control, building that mind mastering muscle.

Brush tip pens do have a unique way about them, once you get used to the handling of them and there's (no doubt) a few 100 Calligraphy for beginners books/videos out there that would be good for learning brush/pen control. Although they maybe for writing (specifically) they could serve to be loads of help with new and other techniques, that translate for their use in art as well.
I saw a similar video of yours two years ago. Since then, I started practising with a brush pen with your given exercises. Currently, after two years, brush pens are my favorite art tools. From pentel's big brush pens to pocket brushes, brush pens are my essentials, along with pencil and eraser. I can't say I have mastered it, but have improved like hell, and they are seriously the most versatile art tool ever created. 🥹🥹❤️❤️❤️
I swear! I got a notification of this video yesterday (was just too busy to watch right away). When I remember to watch, its gone 😂.

@@theamateurfilmmaker I mean it's fairly self explanatory. Look at the references like manga, tv shows, billboards, plants, cars and stuff that interests you. Then, take notes of what you found interesting, doodle some quick poses. You do this enough times and eventually you will be better at drawing your subjects.
Hello kesh..!!
Can you tell me how do you refill the brush pen ? 😊

What ink do you fill in brush pens? Learned so much from you❤
@@pragyasharma02 thank you! Happy the content is useful. Now the ink I use - I recommend a rotring black ink bottle. I fill the inks with a syringe.
I also get the refills these days as it's much easier
@@KeshArt Thankyou for your help bro❤
Does rotring ink gets dry and block the way to ink out in the pen?
@@KeshArt can you pls tell me what app you use for digital art
Yo! I'm waiting for "The Time i tried to become Ironman" ....and happy Dusshera 😊
Where can I find this Pentel fude brush pen?
But how do you control the hand, tho?
Well the control of the hand you have to do the practice exercises he showed and then when you're done with those you have to apply it to either the 100 day challenge of sketching or just practice something you're interested in.
and it is not going to look right on the first try cuz I've done it it's going to look bad lol But you got to keep going that's the point of this video anything you want to do is not going to be good until we practice it.
But have fun with it. you practice it and then apply it like something simple like cubes and rectangles like an observation drawing that will be the simplest thing to apply it to just like he showed in the video.
I hope this helps but this is how you control the hand by doing the exercises by applying it to something you enjoy drawing and keep going when they don't turn out good the first time.
