Blue Television Games I think NESmaker is good for people who doesn't like to code their NES game. I wanted to make a NES game, but when I searched for tutorials, all the tutorials were complicated. With this tool I will be able to make the NES version of Shovel Knight. I won't release it when it will be finished. I have to talk with the Yacht Club devs.
All I can say is that I can absolutely not wait for a Blue Television Games NES game...like legit am pumped!! If you have played any of Darby's levels in Mario Maker you know how amazing his NES creations are going to be!!!
Why would it be illegal? They are already selling the homebrew game the engine was initially created for. I'm pretty sure you'll have to buy the engine, getting it is one of the rewards of the kickstarter campaign.
The difficulity is not having any features normal programming languages offer you, like function protoyping, dynamic memory allocation, keeping track of which variable is in which register, libraries to simplify access to hardware (like SDL), classes, if-else, while, for structs etc. Plus you have to workaround limitations of the hardware, for example I think you can't multiply on a NES. The only way to do this is by using certain slow magic (shifting left multiplies by two, so if you want to mulitply by 7 you shift 3 times left and subtract the original value once etc.) This can get quite messy quite fast. And you have to keep in mind what could happen if you make a mistake at any time. The more cool thing is that you could theoretically create your own cartridge with a MCU on board which pushes the limits of the hardware. Porting a game to PC is easier than writing it for a (retro) console. However if you've written your game in assembler, you usually know what you have done, so porting it to C/C++ (for current platforms) isn't that hard anymore. But most platforms nowadays already run emulators so I'd simply run my game in one.
They shouldn't. We're licensed third party devs...and while this isn't a formally supported project in that paradigm, it sort of sits outside of any existing paradigm...they're plenty aware that we're making NES games. Hardware patents have expired. All we're doing is creating a tool that organizes ASM data in a way that an unsupported hardware can read.

I love the idea! New Games, remakes from previous system like to Atari or Colecovision, "Demakes" from today like to Assassins Creed, Pacman Battle Royale, , Halo, Sonic Forces, Pokemon....
I backed it! I'm getting the software in August 2018, and BY GOLLY am I stoked!!! I can't wait to make a legit NES game! It's been my dream since I was a young little dude to make a video game that you could play on an actual console! This is gonna be great... My only worry is the music. I have no skill with making music, so I usually use remixes of my favorite VG music when I do this sort of thing...I hope that it's easier to import maybe music from Famitracker into this. Either way, having a physical NES game that I made myself would be amazing!!!
I think I've been wanting something like this for other retro systems for ages. Like Master System or C64. Yea, I know there were some game makers on the C64 itself but ones that leverage more modernly designed tools.
Probably not a cart, but I'd love to try out a version of the program. I've been following the dev channel on and off for a little while now. I get the impression that it's based on an existing game's engine that's very flexible? There is an editor called Kided for Alex Kidd. Which is also really cool but I don't think it's quite as comprehensive. Also, I'd never expected anything, but I agree it *is* really cool.
Yo!!! I'm studying computer science and have limited amount of coding. I've been thinking of turning a manga project of mine for class I did into an NES game. Gotta get this software! This is good!
Wait, if we did made a game using from the NES Maker, would it be possible to put the Upload the Whole ROM to the ROM Hacking Site and people can download our games to their ROM Homebrew NES Cartilages or are they going to give out the brand new NES Cartilages to upload our homemade NES games that is not modified from existing NES games like how Mega Cat Studios does with Little Medusa and City Trouble?

This is SO MUCH POWER, and people don't even realize it! Imagine, what you could do, If you own an Nes classic mini! I'll leave you with that thought!
So true! :D
I would make Super BTG Bros
That would be fun.
Please tell me what the song is playing when you first start talking! I have been searching for it everywhere and cannot figure out where it comes from.
Awesome
Yeah, really neat. I love making stuff.
I hope NES gaming becomes big again.. it up to us guys
I wanna build ''Super Mario World Darby's Quest''
I'd play that.
Oh man...how did I just find out about this now? If I had the money, I would definitely support this. I've always wanted to try my hand at NES dev stuff, but haven't managed to find the time.
This is super super super super super supe cool
I am so excited for it.
I might do something with it if I can
I can't wait to make my own games and share them with my friends!
Sonic or Splatoon 2D Game remake for me :P
That would be cool
Both of those have been done already
Yeah I know but it would still be cool for me at least
victor riker
And there’s even a somari hack that replaces “somari” with sonic , including the sonic 2 moveset.
And a sonic 1 Hack Called “Somari The Adventurer” , And before green hill zone there's “Mushroom Hill Zone”.
I recently heard about this project, and I think it's an incredible idea! Really looking forward to playing around with it :)
Same! I think this could be really amazing.
When is it released???
I don’t think there’s a set date. I believe beta builds start releasing any day now.
@@BlueTelevisionGames it's the year 2020 and I'm still waiting
@@BlueTelevisionGames well its 2021 is it released?
I THOUGHT I WAS DREAMING
Does it mean you cant play if you don't have a nes?
You can play on a PC using an emulator. :D
OMG I bluetelvevisiongames! Also thanks for telling me! :D
"ur dum" - Everyone who plays emulators who read this comment
Download an emulators.
Thank you game nerds for making all my childhood fantasies come true! Nintendo had to go and spoil such a good thing by getting rid of
the 8 bit dream!
I know! I’m excited there’s tons of new NES games being worked on. Have you seen any of my early game showcases?
No i just found your channel.. ahaha.. i have soooooo many questions...?????????????????????
Are you familiar with Yoko Honda's New Retro artwork? It is soooo amazing really really. I have yet to see a New Retro game come out but i know it would sell like hot cakes cause that is a huge seen in the music world as well. Its all new romantic and more! Hint hint.. lol.
Sounds cool
I was really really wondering how the rom hack cartridges get the
"made in Japan" sticker.. do you know?
I made the like button to gray from blue
You rock!
I think it's supposed to say "from gray to blue" aka turning it from gray to blue
This is amazing. I would to see what kind of home brew creations come out of this.
Same! I am really really excited for this product. Thanks for watching.
did i just watch a 7 min ad?
Lol. I didn’t mean it to sound like an ad. I was just excited about this and wanted to share it, haha.
no, i understand lol
This is really cool. I've always wanted to make a game but lack the knowledge of doing so. I'm not sure how this is possible but apparently it is. Great job
Yeah! It looks awesome. I can’t wait until they release the software so I can try making a game.
I’m a bit late ):
You are still pretty early actually! :D
Oh wow like 5 seconds after I commented a reply
I usually try to stick around when a video first releases to talk to subs. :D
There's still time :-)
Same
I'm extremely looking forward to this!
Heck yah Tony! Me too. :D
Second to like first to comment
Thanks Brody.
Blue Television Games Your Welcome! :)
Oops
I made a sad face XD
lol
Never knew I wanted this until I saw this video. Is there gonna be a snes maker soon too?
If this does well I bet someone will make one.
different beast...hopefully someone else picks up the mantle...but SNES was NOTORIOUSLY hard to dev for from my understanding :-)
I love the idea! New Games, remakes from previous system like to Atari or Colecovision, "Demakes" from today like to Assassins Creed, Pacman Battle Royale, , Halo, Sonic Forces, Pokemon....
Great way to look at it! :D
i love how on the boss the stuff falling from the ceiling are dislike buttons
This looks like it has potential. I can’t wait to see what people make with this engine.
Agreed.
100% agree! This is going to be so fun. :)
If you do end up making a game be sure to share it with me so I can play it!!
Blue Television Games Alright, if you want! :)
Can an NES emulating Retron console run the cartridge flashed games?
I’m not sure
Darby! The black hole mario maker Glitch is back! We need you!
It’s back?
Make a game based on the 1989 Disney Movie, Honey, I shrunk the kids on NES Maker.
Now this is an interesting concept, if only someone can find a way to do this with 3D style games.
...Unity, Unreal, etc. :-)
I think I've been wanting something like this for other retro systems for ages. Like Master System or C64. Yea, I know there were some game makers on the C64 itself but ones that leverage more modernly designed tools.
I would never expect something like this to exist. But it does, and it is so awesome! Are you going to get one?
Probably not a cart, but I'd love to try out a version of the program. I've been following the dev channel on and off for a little while now. I get the impression that it's based on an existing game's engine that's very flexible?
There is an editor called Kided for Alex Kidd. Which is also really cool but I don't think it's quite as comprehensive.
Also, I'd never expected anything, but I agree it *is* really cool.
Yo!!! I'm studying computer science and have limited amount of coding. I've been thinking of turning a manga project of mine for class I did into an NES game. Gotta get this software! This is good!
That sounds really cool. I’d love to check it out if you make it!
Blue Television Games Do you know where I can download this software?
It’s not released yet.
Blue Television Games Ah okay...well. let's hope it's gettimg release soon. Keep us updated if there is a download released.
I will! :D
Yes!!! This made my day!!
Woooh
can't wait to make a beat-em up with several stuff
Sounds fun
Wait, if we did made a game using from the NES Maker, would it be possible to put the Upload the Whole ROM to the ROM Hacking Site and people can download our games to their ROM Homebrew NES Cartilages or are they going to give out the brand new NES Cartilages to upload our homemade NES games that is not modified from existing NES games like how Mega Cat Studios does with Little Medusa and City Trouble?
You can play the roms on an emulator and share them online. They also offer carts and a cart flasher. You can also buy them online.
Definitely check out the details of the project. www.kickstarter.com/projects/1316851183/nesmaker-make-nes-games-no-coding-required
Savestates and GameGenie codes in new games, that's awesome :D
Heck yah.
I'm probably going to use this program to remake games that are NOT on the NES like Bomb Jack, Super Pac-Man, and others.
Cool idea
This is like a dream come true for me
Sweet
LOOKS PRETTY COOL!
I think so too. :D
Something this good shouldn't flop! ever! Make it work!
Yes!!!
This NES maker thingy awesome hope you like it darby
It looks sweet
Blue Television Games I think it’s sWeEt To
The thing about this is you can port to a cartridge so you can use game genie
You can for sure. :D

If we had an SNES Game Maker, that would be really Cool.
Heck yah
I can make ghostbusters NES (remastered) 1: add 3 more levels.
2: remove the driving stage.
3: =more foreword, up to run, A=proton pack's for the stairs.
4: Items more cheaper.
5: Different music.
6: better ending.
7: all four ghostbusters.
8: stay buff boss fight.
9: shoot higher.
10: better items.
Could the NES Maker allow anyone to replace/add sprites/weapons from other games onto the one existing game you're re-editing (ex. Adding Batman and his arsenal into Friday The 13th)?
