I knew all this, but this cleared it up way better. I think you can use Density mode to locate a chunk that should have it. Maybe check surrounding chunks to find one that has the best chance and then dig down to the bottom of the sedimentary stone and triangulate using Node search.
Density mode isnt generally available. Has to be commanded in to be able to use it and I know most players wont have access to it or likely be using it, plus depending on the distance that it's set to, its likely that it wont even be able to pick up most of the domes unless its turned up a bit since most often they will be a bit below the surface.
I started playing VS recently. I always like your minecraft videos. I was having trouble finding Halite and here you are again! I have not seen you on for awhile. I hope all is well for you. Are you producing any content these days (twitch or something)?
A question I have is: if it doesn't spawn below igneous rocks, what about locations where Basalt is the top layer and when prospecting it says that there is a Poor chance of it being there (it was "Poor: 27%" at best) Can it be below the basalt or what's going on?
Can anyone tell me what the highest percentage of Halite you ever found was? In the video it's suggested you began searching at 16% Very Poor but that the spot you found it at went as high as 32%? I have only ever found 16% Very Poor and hours and hours of strip mining got me nothing
I love how this game needs 10min tutorial on how to find specific type of rock
yeah, and then it's really rewarding and cool when you do find one

Thank you Asgard! Then actually trying to find some of this myself and struggling so you're a lifesaver man.
Thank you, this helps tremendously.
Np at all :) Very glad that it helps out!
GREAT info! Thank you ! I actually spawned in a desert biome so I guess I will go back to my spawn area and have a look see!
Np, glad that you found it useful and nice luck spawning into a desert!

Cant believe its easier to find olivine than a damn halite

Man I did not know that much generated. Wow that’s a lot.
I am a prospecting God. Found my first dome off a very poor reading.
That helped thank you
Glad it helped out!
This is a great help, I hate finding halite in this game.

I have only ever found 16% Very Poor and hours and hours of strip mining got me nothing
The highest I ever got was 9.9% :(
26%, dug straight down and around, nothing still.
Decent 166‰
Remember it's all based on probability so you won't necessarily find it where it's says there may be some halite
Thx I have a few ewes producing milk, and I tought Id get cheesy
