    My grandfather had an early 40s Farmall A that he bought when he got out of the Army during WW2. Farmalls are my favorite because of this. They aren’t the biggest machines but they do come in handy for all kinds of different jobs around the farm.
    It’s great to see this one in its work clothes still working. 👍

      Thanks for sharing. Similar here. Both grandfather and dad were big Farmall guys

    I love this. This is one of the few As I've seen that still has the lift arms and rock shafts on it as well as the cultivators. This area where I live (the northern Piedmont of North Carolina) used to be covered in small tobacco farms and the off set Farmalls were a dream come true for many local farmers. I still have Daddy's 1963 140 that he and I raised tobacco with years ago and I garden with it now.

      Thanks! I've never seen tobacco growing, but that 140 is a keeper.

    I've got the same tractor, but i need the rear cultivator for the back, and I'm still shopping for them. Great job, sir.

      I just noticed that Roy's Red Iron in Tennessee has a full A-136 cultivator set for sale for $175.

    Very nice! I had a chance to buy one of these just like yours back in 2005 but wound up finding a 100 with several pieces of 1 pt. equip. with it and still have it! No better ''garden tractor'' imo. Great job on the cultivating and the corn looks amazing! From Sophia, N.C.

      Thanks! Great find on the 100 with equipment. I'd like to find a cub with 1 point.

      Thanks! I have since removed the cultivator shanks and attached an under belly row disk for the garden that I'll do a video on.

    Looks and sounds good and you moved right along so many people cultivate real slow.

      Thanks! I like to throw as much dirt to the crop as I can without covering it.

    Noticed a little play in the steering, our old super A had a turn and a.1/ 4 plowed some corn up with it .

    Another awesome video! I agree with our partner in crime, "you make it look easy!" I'm still hoping for that unedited blooper video someday soon 🤣.

    I’d really like to know the connection/hookup arrangement for the cultivators. I have an A but the rear cultivators were being held up by a chain and were not functional. The front were connected to an exhaust assisted lift system which didn’t work either. My intention is to discard the exhaust system and go back to the manual lift. My problem is I don’t know how to set it up. I would appreciate any help you can afford. thank you, I enjoyed your video.

      Hi Larry. The lower rear gangs are connected to the final drive/bull gear housings and are connected to an upper rockshaft by vertical rods with springs on them. The rockshaft works via a linkage rod that goes from the rockshaft, under the seat near the right fender, and connects to a manual lift handle that is bolted to the right front of the platform surface. Regarding the fronts, I've seen exhaust lifts, but I'm not familiar with them. On mine, the front levers also work a rockshaft that connects to the lower beams via rods with springs. It would probably be best if I could send you pictures.

    What do you think of the Allis Chalmers Model G? I just bid on a restored one and figure it would be great for my big garden.

      @rustyrelicsranch  2 місяці тому

      I don't have any experience with the G, but it looks like it would be an excellent cultivating tractor with all that visibility to the front. I've only seen them with culitvators mounted, but I assume there are other implements for it as well.

    Are the front and rear lift seperate ??

    • @rustyrelicsranch
      @rustyrelicsranch  Рік тому +1

      Yes they are. And the right and left side of the front can be raised & lowered independently if needed.

    • @TeresaJohnson-ew4us
      @TeresaJohnson-ew4us Рік тому +1

      @rustyrelicsranch how can each side if front be raised independently ?? Can you show me that ??

      I totally missed your question. I should clarify. There are two levers on the left side of the tractor, one longer than the other. The long handle lowers and raises both gangs and has a lot of "teeth" or notches to choose from. The shorter handle only has about 4 selection notches and you can use that to run the left gang slightly higher or slightly lower than the right gang.

      @rustyrelicsranch why would you want left gang slightly lower it higher then right gang ????
      I don't understand what you would gain by this ??
