    Sapporo resident here.
Raised my eyebrows more than slightly when I saw you took a taxi from the airport to JR Tower Hotel of all places.
There's an airport train which runs about every 10-15min that goes to Sapporo Station, which is directly connected to JR Tower Hotel without even you needing to walk out of the complex. Could've gotten to your hotel in less than an hour for like 10% of the price lol
Also CTS is actually in the city of Chitose, which is three cities removed/away from Sapporo. It's called "New" Chitose because the old was located in another part of Chitose. The current CTS is also shared with Self Defence Force, you can regularly see military jets land/take off there too- sometimes at the same time as your own flight which I've had the pleasure of seeing a few times.
Don't forget to check out the observation deck of CTS!
You can also book Air DO flights on the ANA website since they code share.
Also the reason why you saw pretty much only ANA aircraft in HND was because you were in the ANA terminal, the other terminal is primarily JAL and its affiliates.
I'm sure you know, but CX does daily flights (two daily 3 times a week) to CTS too. But guessing you wanted to try out Air DO hence the odd routing.

The price for not doing research beforehand. But it's probably alright as he'll claim the taxi costs as tax deductible expenses.

KIX is indeed a fantastic airport. Nice and open layout, easy to navigate, and good views. Also there's a huge skyscraper hotel on the mainland just next to the bridge to the airport. Stayed there once, and ohhh boy that was amazing 😀
You gotta also love Naha Airport, that drops you basically right in the middle of Naha city proper, on Okinawa island. Small but not too small, but still has all the conveniences you'll come to love in Japan. Only caution I would give is, avoid the LCC terminal there 🕷

The "do" in Air Do is pronounced like "Dough" or the do in "Hokkaido". As others mentioned, the best way from Narita to Haneda is by bus. They leave every 10 minutes and take 60 minutes. The cost is about 3,000 Yen. Taxis are not the way. In Japan everything just works and is civilized that is one of the major up sides of the country.

After watching a few dozen of Noel's videos, I've decided that he is doing a bit of "leg pulling" with his constant mispronunciation/misnomers of foreign words. Yes, flying domestic in Japan is on another level - super easy process and super quick at the airports. Indeed „Air Do“ is pronounced like the ‚do‘ in Hokkaido (北海道). Hokkaido translates literally to ‚the northern sea route‘. This last syllabus (道) means road, way, path or route. Therefore, „Air Do“ is something like the connecting route in the air 😅 Cheers from Tokyo! PS great to hear that you like Japan so much!

Air do and Peach Airlines are real cost-savers while flying domestically in Japan. The barley tea (mugicha) is an acquired taste. I hated it at first--tasted like an ash tray to me. One day when it was over 36C outside, someone offered cold mugicha to me. I was hot, thristy and sweating. It was the best stuff I ever drank. Try some, at least once. Loved staying at the JR towers. Breakfast views from the restaurant are awesome! Take public transportation as a first option in Japan. Taxis are for short trips...or in bad weather.

In 2009, Hiroshi Igami from Posky announced a new version of the 767, the SkySpirit2010 767v5, one of the most detailed 767s made for the Microsoft FlightSimulator 2004 and FSX. One of his Demo livery was one of AirDo. Everyone on the forum was like "what is AirDo?" and Hiroshi answered "this is a local Japanese airline". This is how I heard from AirDo. Never been to Japan.
4:23 There was a video by CGP Grey about the boarding methods, how bad by row is for the flow of passengers and how good the boarding with the window seat first and then to the middle of the plane.

Air Do is a subsidiary of ANA, thus it use the "blue" side of Henada. While the other side is "red", all JAL plane.
Both ANA and JAL offer free hanger tour at Henada. It is amazing. You will love it.

Noel another awesome video. You air dodo fantastic video capturing. I have never been to Japan myself so now you are 1 up to that country over me. I was thinking as to rating your fights and accommodations around this world of ours you should add a segment with the video of a meal from the country or region of the country you are at. And rate the food as well not just on the aircraft.
Looking forward to more videos tomorrow

Air do is stylised as エアドゥ (E-A-Du) in Japanese. The ドゥ (Du) is pronounced similar to the English word ‘do’ despite originating from the「どう」(Dou) in 北海道 (Hokkaidō).

I'd really recommend looking into some alternative ground transportation options when in Japan :) Not only are they quite a bit cheaper than taxis and often similarly fast, they're also quite fun. Wouldn't you rather take a high-speed train than a boring old taxi? But you saw how well things run there - even the limousine bus is perfectly acceptable and usually costs about $15 for a ride from the airport to the city center (in any city).
Anyway, first time flying Japan domestic was quite an experience for me as well, with all the little slips of paper and everything. I flew Skymark on that same route. Cool thing was they actually sold desktop plane models on board and they were only about $50, with a wood base and everything. Of course I had to buy one.

I’ve been in Japan since June 14th, plan on staying here till early August. I actually got to fly on SkyMark airlines, an Air Do low cost carrier competitor, they have the exact same boarding system. I believe it’s standard in Japan. And it genuinely works better, in my opinion.

I checked, after mentioning it in the comments on your last video, that the coach service still runs from Narita to Haneda. Takes 1hr 15min and costs about 3000 Yen. About 20 years ago, when i was working in Manila, I got a call to jump on a flight to Seoul to deal with an emergency in the office there. I literally had to rush straight to NAIA and jump on the flight. Well, it was winter in Soul, but still 33-34C in Manila, and I had no warm clothing. I got out of the airport in Seoul at about 06.00hrs local and it was -5C and I was wearing shorts and a t-shirt. While in the taxi to the hotel, it started snowing! After checking in, I went to a nearby department store as soon as it opened and bought a complete outfit, including gloves and hat and warm coat. By goodness, that sudden almost 40C temperature change was a shock.

    • @mark123655
      @mark123655 11 місяців тому +1

The best way between narita and haneda is the Narita express to Shinagawa station, then they keikyu line to Haneda. Total cost $12.20.
You can also take the direct “Limousine Bus” which takes about an hour and costs $21.

Agree with above comments about service but working there is different to travel but back to the travel blog.
After flying into and out of CTS/NRT/HDA more than 10o times , there is efficient bus service for 3500yen door to door, likewise train service between airports if needed.
As for Air Do, then it is affiliated with NH and schedule frequent flights between airports on ex NH 763s and retired NH and JK pilots.
Very efficient and polite like all service people in Japan.
Glad you had a good trip.

My first trip to Japan; was when I was a youngster, with my family. HKG-HND (or, at that time TYO) , on an Alitalia DC10-30. Beautiful country, where aesthetics and extreme etiquette are important. I have been back many, many times and still love the 'quirkiness' of it; however, living there would be challenge ..especially with that 'etiquette'/'lose-of-face' component in their society! (I still have the wonderful flags, that are made into the shape of a carp fish "koinobori". Bought those, during that first trip!)

Hi Noel, I have not flown AirDo though I have flown from Fukuoka to Hokkaido several times on JAL and ANA. Our local airline in Kitakyushu is StarFlyer which is also worth trying if you come down to Kyushu. The taxi ride was shockingly expensive. A direct bus exists at maybe no more than 5,000 yen and I have taken it - but of course it runs on a schedule which probably didn’t suit you at the time. Wonderful view of Tokyo on your flight including Sky Tree! 🗾👍🌸😀
