    “Does it feel different?” “No, not really.” The last generation WRX might have been one of the worst tuned vehicles from the factory of any brand to date. This new one is vastly improved. To say it feels the same does it a major disservice.

    • @allen.9
      @allen.9 Рік тому +9

      I agree. I just bought this car and after driving several previous WRXs, this one is by far the best tuned out of the factory. Nearly ZERO rev hang and that within itself is amazing.

    Just tracked my 2022 WRX yesterday and I wouldn't call it meh. I had a blast! I was even held up by some slower 911 drivers and a slower C7 Vette driver. Grip around corners is great. The AWD helps it rocket out of corners. The engine does like to be high in the revs, but it kept up with most cars. And with the stiffer chassis, this car changes directions with composure.

      How did the brakes hold up after a few laps? I've heard many recommend upgrading to better fluid. Really enjoying my 22 rex so far, but yet to track it

    Use case. I live in Wisconsin, snows daily for months, lots of ice. I commute an hour each way in rush hour traffic everyday. I like speed. I don't like nor have ever owned a stick shift car. I love the wrx with the cvt and the self driving features in rush hour, then hitting the gas for the last 20 mins on the highway. I love it. This is my 3rd Subaru, I wouldn't trade it for anything. I also like the light steering, it's like a video game. Dude with the beard probably would tell you a 1980 vette is his jam.

    The 3-lap format with driver and passenger is a perfectly decent format, lack of consistent presenters really hampers it though, it's just so hit and miss. The last one I watched was great, the one before that I turned off, this one meh.

    my '22 6MT, premium: steering is rather strange. Not light at typical suburban cruising, but at higher speeds, it is too sensitive with little feedback and almost no dead point; even a small 0.5 degree movement makes the car move out of lane. It def. doesn't feel speed-sensitive. Around town, it's pretty good though.
    I feel that the suspension is pretty darn good for what it is. Rear end is a little loosy goosy, like it needs the draw stiffener or cusco stiffener. The exhaust was way too quiet, so upgraded the cat-back, which is now much easier to drive by ear. Before the cat-back, I had to way too frequently check the tach.

    This may be apples to oranges comparison but which would be better for twisty road, occasional track use, fun to drive, Subaru WRX VB or Mazda Miata Mx-5 ND2? Wrx is more practical and powerful for sure but which will give you more pure driving experience and enjoyment?

    Who buys the “CVT”? A nearly 50 year old Subaru guy with a disabled clutch leg who remembers the glory days of driving an STi a decade ago, that’s who. My GT gets here in about a month and I’m stoked. (P.S. drive the SPT before judging. It’s good)

    Subaru expect 60% of new model sales to be CVT… and here in Australia the WRX Sportswagon only comes in CVT…

    • @maxalfa6289
      @maxalfa6289 2 роки тому +1

      I'm in Australia too. I'm getting the base model manual. Didn't consider the wagon in my decision at all since its CVT.
      In North America, they've consistently stated that 85% of WRX sales are manual. Australia must be an outlier. I have a work colleague whose husband bought a 2016 WRX CVT simply because she didn't want to drive a manual. Even though my wife doesn't know how to drive manual either, no way was I compromising the driving experience by getting a CVT! Oh, and a manual also doubles up as millennial anti-theft device ... (how many people under 30 you know who know how to drive one 😁)

      In the US we don't get the wagon/Levorg, so trunks/boots for everyone. I hope Subaru brings the Levorg to the US since they are trying to make the cvt successful...at least give us a car that can be useful if its performance is only so-so and is missing the 3rd pedal. Apparently, early on manual sales of the VB seem strong...I doubt the same will be true with the higher priced GT trim

    • @allen.9
      @allen.9 Рік тому +1

      I own this car in a manual transmission and I seriously think that anyone buying this is a CVT should reconsider. It's not a super fast car by any means so an auto will really feel meh and bland. Also, the fact that it uses a CVT in a nearly $50k car is absurd, and most new cars at that price point are using a DCT.

    • @australianmade2659
      @australianmade2659 Рік тому

      @@allen.9 the only disadvantage is the towing. Otherwise a CVT is fine. I ordered the outback XT a month back so turbo power is plenty for me and the kids. I use to drive a manual and for sure that’s a great box. But the wife can’t drive a manual in any event so that’s where we are at. I think manuals are being driven out of existence with emissions these days

    Only the wagon/Levorg in the US can redeem the VB. And now that the GT w/the cvt is here, there is no excuse to NOT bring over the wagon. Sure, it will still be a cvt, but at least there will be more functional space behind the back seats. Leave the forester to take us into the trees and the Levorg to the track and ikea

    21 and a 22 wrx are completely different feeling, ive had a 2020 wrx for years, traded it for a 23 after test driving, the only thing i dislike is the new steering rack, the car is completely different, engine wise this thing is tuned amazingly and doesnt feel like an absolute pos. gearing is better too, so is the suspension set up and so on. even the brakes are better. only 15% better but still needed over the last generations of the wrx. the fact this review was so far off is concerning.
