I found this vlog to be so interesting and informative. For example: I never knew the woman in the painting was the artist’s sister and the man, his dentist. You continue to amaze me, Jordan at the large variety of topics you choose to vlog and share with us. You make a difference in all our lives.
Wow! I have to say that the house is so much less...ominous when you see it in person. A true icon of the Midwest. EDIT Also I love your video. Very informative and well shot, thanks!
Love this! The diversity in your choice of subjects to vlog blows me away. No matter what the subject, they are always interesting, from art to baseball.
I was born and raised in southern Iowa! So happy to see you traveling through the state. So many small towns in Iowa look so much alike. Very good commentary on Grant Wood's painting, btw. What a great breakdown on the piece. Thanks so much for sharing! 😊
Very cool Jordan! I have seen other vloggers visit the home before but quite honestly no one gave it the great treatment that you did. The museum looks really cool as well.
Hi Jordan, I liked the sunflower mural that you passed which brightens up a snowy Spring day. How fantastic to see such an iconic house in the world of art. I love the photo of the original models with the painting, how cool is that!! Great vlog Jordan.
What a wonderful museum! There is another Grant Wood painting in the Cincinnati Art Museum, the satirical "Daughters of Revolution" which shows three little elderly ladies, one sipping tea, seated in front of the famous picture of Washington crossing the Delaware. They are looking out directly at the viewer. Thanks for the vlog. Eldon was another great place to vlog.
Did not know this was an actual place, very cool. When one of my brothers got married and bought their own little farm, we gave them a pitch fork as he and his wife stood in front of their new old home.
Well, can't buy Lysol disinfectant spray in the PNW but I sure can get a good giggle going on with your Intro Jordan ! Thanks for the positive vibes today 😍
Wow Jordan! I never knew this was a REAL house, just thought it was a painting! Yet another thing I learned from your vlogs! I will never look at that painting the same way again, so interesting! Thanks!
What amazing history of this place. Thank you for enlightening us. Grant Wood was a wonderful artist. What a fascinating vlog on the history of American Gothic. Safe travels. Much love to you and Jah ❤❤❤🦁
Really loved your tour of the American Gothic house. I’ll make sure my grandchildren watch you video. They’ll be ready for Art Appreciate for sure. You’re too young to know but the curtain pattern is of her apron. Those ladies wore full aprons to protect their clothing as cooking was pretty intense. This was before modern laundry and washing clothes was hard labor therefore the full aprons. My grandmother wore one. They completely covered the front of their dresses.
Great vlog, Jordan! I never knew that there was an actual American Gothic house ... or that the models for the painting were Wood's sister and dentist. Thanks for sharing this fascinating story with us!
Heeyyy Good morning Jordan... super vlog today!! Thanks so much!! Of course I’ve heard of the American Gothic painting but could not remember where or how...🤪so take care, be safe, 🌸🌺🌼🍃🎶🎻🥁🎸🩰🌷🌻🌻👩🏻💻
I made a parody of it for the guys at Cornerstone Music, a music store in Downtown Clermont, Florida. In the woman’s place is Pete, who works there and also used to give me guitar lessons. In the man’s place is Chris, who works the counter and does all the repairs. Instead of the American Gothic house, it’s the Cornerstone Music, and instead of a pitchfork, it’s a Stratocaster. I think they have the original drawing up on the wall somewhere in Cornerstone Music l, but I’m not sure. I did it all with paper and pencil. I took a photo of it before o gave it to them, though, so I could still laugh at the drawing when I’m not at Cornerstone.
Hi Jordan! So glad to hear you are going to Pigeon Forge TN soon...unfortunately, we are leaving the area on Sunday March 22nd so my family can all get back to work! We are taking a small vacay there (my birthday is today March 8th!)...I would have loved to have met you in person during my bday month, however we have to head back Sunday....my friend David is one of your patreons...we loved the Christmas card of you and Jah he received at Christmas! Take care and enjoy Tennessee!!
Thank you for this vlog. I enjoyed learning about the American Gothic painting and the story from concept to done deal. Always thought the farmer and the lady were husband and wife. Now I know it’s father and daughter. And the inspiration for the lady wax the artist sister. The house does remind me of the Green Acres house. I learn new things from you every time . I never want to stop learning new things just like my grandmother was. Keep doing what you’re doing. We appreciate everything you do.
Awesome vlog Jordan. I never knew it was a actual house. I think of Rocky Horror Picture Show when I see the picture. I can't believe how much snow is still around
You're right down the road from my father's hometown of Ottumwa. Also you probably already knew about it, but just east of Eldon is Roseanne's abandoned mansion she was in the process of building when her and Tom Arnold split (Tom is from Ottumwa).
If you ever make it down to Sioux city the art center in Sioux city has a mural of Grant woods done in 1926 which is called the corn room which was a part of the historic Martin hotel
Other interesting facts is Grants sister and dentist never posed together and only met years later. Also the house was a Sears and Roebuck house that the original owners put a church style window in. The back of the house actually has a similar window as the front only bigger. No one ever shows that. Famous “pie maker to the stars” Beth Howard used to reside in the house before moving to California. Look her up. Pretty interesting she used to live there. Apparently Robert Downey Jr. loved her pies.
I have an autograph from Nan Wood Graham. I tell people it's a painting of a farmer and his daughter. They don't believe me. Now they will. Thanx for the vlog.
The Mid West is such a cool place... An interesting laid back vibe there! Filmed a butt load of car commercials in Iowa. Never saw the American Gothic House, though! Very cool!
A suggestion which we just saw in Ohio. The shawshank prison in Mansfield. There is a tour! We couldnt stop but saw a billboard for return to shawshank
I posed as a model for the scene with a modern look by an Art Institute student in Chicago. Had no knowledge of Eldon Iowa and the history of the painting........Thanks for the info
You can see a parody of the painting in the Rocky Horror Picture Show to. You took me back to my high school art class learning about it's history. I am guessing it's worth more then 300 now. 😎 Safe travels to Tennessee. Can't wait to see what you vlog in Tennessee this time around.
Another great vlog Jordan you work so hard , day after day to bring us your vlogs In the land of opportunity why haven’t you been given your own show!! In England they would have snapped you up !! Love to you and jah
Wow, I always thought the lady was too young to be considered the farmers wife, but a lot of parodies make her a lot older than the true painting shows, so it's cool to know the history. Entertaining and informative video as always! Thanks
The Woman with Plants painting was his mother not sister Nan. Great video and you did a lot of research. Eldon is where Tom Arnold and Roseanne Barr were building their lavish mansion. Never finished and still remains today decaying in a field (on private property).
Hi Jordan, the painting of the older lady is of Grant’s mother, not Nan. I looked it up as I knew Grant died aged 50 and his sister was younger so he wouldn’t have known her as an older lady. But a really interesting vlog 😊
Who would have thought that there were so many interesting things in Iowa? This is where I have to confess I’m a little embarrassed because I spent the first 18 years of my life in Iowa and everything that you have covered so far there I never knew. So cool to learn the history behind some of the great iconic things in our life. 🤠
Oh awesome 👏 I used live around there. If you’re still in the area, poke around Fairfield for a bit. You’ll find some interesting things you wouldn’t expect in to see in Iowa.
I just found your channel a few days ago, LOVE JAH & love your content I discovered you thru your dearly departed vids . I'm not sure what you do for a living but You would make a great flight attendant ! Lol My airline is hiring ....Haha Anyhows new subscriber hugs for you and jah
Thanks for doing this vlog Jordan. I really enjoyed learning more detail about Grant Wood's "American Gothic." I love hearing the details about the repetition of patterns and fabrics in the painting. I also didn't know the model was the artist's sister. I laughed when you said he elongated her face because she didn't want to be associated as the wife of the man in painting.
This was so fascinating to see and you telling the backstory, even a baseball team sitting on the porch how about that? Very cool vlog, thank you Jordan
I found this vlog to be so interesting and informative. For example: I never knew the woman in the painting was the artist’s sister and the man, his dentist.
You continue to amaze me, Jordan at the large variety of topics you choose to vlog and share with us. You make a difference in all our lives.

I learned so much more in this video than when we studied this painting in Art History class!
Seen this painting many times but never gave it a second thought! What a great vlog!
Great vlog Jordan. Very interesting topic. 👍👍
Teachers should use your vlogs to excite young students to learn. You bring history to life with your adventurous eye. This was so interesting.
Thank you! That's quite a compliment
but sad to say some of the woke ones only teach our kids negative things and false narratives.
You just made this art major's day! So cool! Thank you Jordan!!
Always telling me something new. Thank you 👍
Thank you Jordan!!! Didn't know there was a real house that did exist in that painting! I am always learning from you!
This is great. You are literally visiting everything.
What a refreshing and informative vlog ! This was so Americana ! Thanks Jordan my knowledge grows again .
Great vlog! I had no idea the Gothic house still existed....leave it to Jordan to take us to places that are unique.
The sister and the dentist you say....this was really cool. Really? The Property Brothers? Lol great fun to see this. Thank you Jordon. Loved it!
Did not know this was an actual place, very cool.
When one of my brothers got married and bought their own little farm, we gave them a pitch fork as he and his wife stood in front of their new old home.
What a great log. Never noticed the window. Laughed over and over on this vlog. Green Acres for sure, and so may more depictions. Thumbs up!
Eldon is just down the road from where I live and is where my mother grew up. It's so cool to live this close to a historical landmark 💗
If I ever make it back, ill vlog the Roseanne stuff from eldon..
Did not know it was an actual house. Another great vid Jordan!
Jordan, you are AMAZING! I had heard of the house, but seeing it through your eyes, was breathtaking! Thank you for this fabulous tour vlog! ⭐🏆⭐
Another AWESOME vlog. Thanks Jordan.
Loved the History of this
Well, can't buy Lysol disinfectant spray in the PNW but I sure can get a good giggle going on with your Intro Jordan ! Thanks for the positive vibes today 😍
The gothic house that is so awesome inside and out in the wood carvings thanks a lot Mister Jordan thank you
Jordan, this was so interesting! You never cease to amaze me! Good job
Wow Jordan! I never knew this was a REAL house, just thought it was a painting! Yet another thing I learned from your vlogs! I will never look at that painting the same way again, so interesting! Thanks!
Cool vlog Jordan! Amazing how that painting is worth a lot more now than it was back then.
LOVE this. The Rocky Horror Picture Show too!
What amazing history of this place. Thank you for enlightening us. Grant Wood was a wonderful artist. What a fascinating vlog on the history of American Gothic.

How cool is that!! I've seen the painting but ever anything about it. I enjoy learning new things. Thank you!
I love all the different interpretations that were in the museum. It’s hard to believe that he ended up selling it for $300. Great vlog!
Great idea to learn & see this . I appreciate it very much Than you
Great Vlog. Very interesting and entertaining.
If you ever make it down to Sioux city the art center in Sioux city has a mural of Grant woods done in 1926 which is called the corn room which was a part of the historic Martin hotel

Great concept for a travel video. Some paintings are just fascinating, like this one and also Hopper's "Nighthawks" (the diner).
