Really good stuff! If I could offer some advice though, it's not a good idea to have a glove on your left hand whilst using a drop saw...in a mishap your skin will rip and hopefully you will pull away. A glove on the other hand will catch and pull your hand into the saw. I don't mean to patronise but I can't see that and not say something. Hoping this is recieved well. Cheers. Ciarán
I just built one of these with my girlfriend. She’s been planting so much, I modified the dimensions to make it bigger and since it’s going on our balcony with minimal drainage, I added a bucket/tray holder for the water to drain into and not get all over our floor.
You guys who have a nice space to enjoy projects like this should NEVER take it for granted. What I would give to have work area like this....Great video :)
I came across your video while looking for a planter box to build at my wife's request. This one checks all the boxes. Beautiful job and very functional.
I made a smaller version of this for my wife... she showed her friends and now i have at least 15 orders of this planter box. A little extra money never hurts. 👍👍👍
This has to be the best planter box on the internet. I like the look of the wood coupled with the functionality of the drain so your plants don't drown. Thanks for the upload!
Brad Brad the family man. Love it bro...and creating something that both you and your kids can spend time with is absolutely the best life can give you. Gave me a good smile at the end. Happy father's day and great project.
bought the plans, am nearly finished, but also adding a side handle, couple of wheels and a place to store a few garden tools. great project. great plans. keep up the good videos.
I get so excited when a new video pops up!!! My mother is going to love this. I've done a planter box around our standing bird feeder and a garden bridge. She just keeps adding to the list thanks to you Brad! Awesome job! :)
God bless you, amazing job probably the best video I’ve seen to make one of these. You’ve explained everything very nicely not confusing whatsoever and with the water spout that just finishes up the job perfectly it’s like a work of art thank you again for your video.
One question. Does it make sense to replace your wood with the cheapest pine OR even plywood stripes AND cover with some oil or poly protective liquid? Just to make the project cheaper and eligible for multiple repeating? Cause I'm considering to make a sort of Planter Box Garden in my backyard. Wouldn't it be looking cheap with pine/plywood?
Great! As always! I like the effect, that i actually do not need a planter Box, but in the way you Work it out, is much more Tipps and tricks for other things.......
First time ripping stuff on my table saw and found out the hard way to look out out those loose knots. Got a nice stamp on my forearm from it shooting back at me.
On the patio I have six very large planters where I did something similar to this. I lined each with a plastic tarp stapled in place around the top, just like you have the plastic sheeting. The tarps are reinforced with fabric which I thought would be good as my planters are larger than the one in the video. Then I have an 1 1/4" plastic pipe sealed into the tarp that carries the water away so it doesn't land on the patio ( you can't ordinarily see the back of my planters) The planter is then filled with a layer of drain rocks which is separated from the earth above it with a layer of landscaping fabric. That way the earth doesn't clog up the drain rock. It may be overkill but it works great. I keep thinking that I ought to make a video of how it's made and how the pipe is sealed to the tarp etc. Great job with yours BTW!
I really really need to get into wood working. I suffered a work injury in 2013. 3 surgeries later I am in worse shape now. I am on disability and because I can not work I also suffer from depression. Wood working has always been a passion of mine. Being that i am off work and did not receive any money for the first 2 years of my disability I had to sell a few of my more valuable tools. The only real saw I managed to keep is my Ridgid 12" mitre saw. Now that I receive a little disability amount plus my wife's small income I need to get back into wood working again. Living in Canada where tools are really expensive it makes it tough but I keep looking through the local buy and sell I am hoping to find a table saw plus some other wood working tools so I can start to get some sanity back. I was used to working around 60 hours a week when i was employed to nothing makes me a little stir crazy. I have even tried talking to Home Depot, Ridgid and other tool companies to see if I could get some tools for a cheaper price " not that they owe it to me", I thought I would try. Unfortunately that did not get me anywhere. Anyways sorry to talk about my life on this channel, at least I get to watch channels like Brads and have some ideas when I can get back into it.
Your planter box is one of the nicest I've seen on UA-cam. And you have done an excellent job with this video. I will be making something like this, but am concerned about expansion and contraction with the sides and legs glued and screwed as you've done. How is your planter holding up?
Love the drainage concept. Are there any issues with using the plastic lining causing moisture buildup that will harm the herbs? I know some will drain, but there will not be any air circulation.
Ever think about creating a planter box with plexiglass sides and then a removable wood panel siding on all 4 sides? By removing a wood panel siding then you could see the growth of the plant through the plexiglass. I don’t know if it’s possible, it’s just an idea I just wonder if you would ever do a project like that.
Exceptionally beautiful build! Question: I don't understand the fabric? It's under the plastic and how is it doing anything to block soil? I think it's to stop saturation around the four holes. Yet the holes are over the PVC?
I’m gonna try and make this here soon but my modifications would be to angle the slats to the water flows to the drain and the other is to use gravel at the bottom then soil to help with drainage as others have complained about root rot and I have bird netting to keep them away so I may add two poles up the back to staple the netting too 🤔
Fix This Build That Something happened during my checkout and I could not return to the checkout page to finalize getting the free plans for this project. Can you help with that please? Thanks.
I paid a fella for a couple of these builds..= planter boxes...In 2 seasons, the bottom fell out...lol wasted $180 ...I should of learned how to make these myself...lol
Great video, Brad. Wish you would slow the speed down to normal, so those who are not yet so advanced could learn in a more relaxed way. Hey, this could make you the new Norm Abrams of UA-cam! 😄🤔
Hey Brad, great and informative video! I would suggest to adjust the lighting for your intros though. If you had something to bounce the light to give it more fill on your face, it would look a lot better. Even having a white board in front of you, it would make a big difference. Feel free to message me if you have any questions or want to bounce any ideas off me. Have a good one!

My husband just finished this it is fabulous.. looking forward to spring!

This is absolutely, the most professionally done channel on you tube...Clear, concise, and to the point...
Thanks!

Thanks! My mom loved the box for Mother's Day!
The chamfer bit just became my new best friend. This box is perfect!
This has to be the best planter box on the internet. I like the look of the wood coupled with the functionality of the drain so your plants don't drown. Thanks for the upload!
Thank you!!
Love the way you showed your mistake and how are you repaired it
I make enough that I have to share :)
My mom was just talking about needing a planter to grow her bell peppers and this is perfect. Plus free plans! Today can’t get any better!
Have fun with it!
Brad Brad the family man. Love it bro...and creating something that both you and your kids can spend time with is absolutely the best life can give you. Gave me a good smile at the end. Happy father's day and great project.
Thanks, Rob!
This raised planter is really nice. Especially if you grow plants in Thailand where the sun is really strong!!
Good and inspiring ideas for raised planter with built in drainage
Now that's a nice planter! You're right. That spar urethane really warms up the cedar.
I have worked with my hands my whole life but; that Iron trick just blew my mind!!!
Question for you: now that you are a year in would you mind commenting on how your drainage system is working?
Super generous to give away the plans for this build. Happy fathers day to you sir!
Thank you! Great support from RIDGID 👍👍
bought the plans, am nearly finished, but also adding a side handle, couple of wheels and a place to store a few garden tools. great project. great plans. keep up the good videos.
Totally agree with your système for the water drainage and the plastic side covering.
My wife is gonna love this!!! Thank you!
Hope she does!
I get so excited when a new video pops up!!! My mother is going to love this. I've done a planter box around our standing bird feeder and a garden bridge. She just keeps adding to the list thanks to you Brad! Awesome job! :)
Thanks, glad you like it!
I built my planter box and love it. I used pine wood instead of cedar but it looks great! Thanks for the plans!
You're welcome!
Shouldn't he be thanking you for buying the plans? Lol
God bless you, amazing job probably the best video I’ve seen to make one of these. You’ve explained everything very nicely not confusing whatsoever and with the water spout that just finishes up the job perfectly it’s like a work of art thank you again for your video.
This brought me so many little tips and gave me a good walkthrough on something I am interested in building. Awesome vid.
Very nice craftsmanship. I like your drainage idea. Keeping the water off the wood makes the planter last much longer. Thanks for sharing this video.
You're welcome!
I like that you changed your mind and fixed it. 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
THE BEST PLANTER!
That is one of the best I have seen. Will be building one - or more - of them. Thanks for great video
Nice build. Drainage system is a cool move.
For black plastic 3 mil large construction grade contractors bags will also work really well.
Nice job, next time invite the kids to help build, they will be a real asset.
Maaaan, this exact Planter Box building process is frkn best of the subj I've seen on UA-cam so far!
Thank you!
Subscribing and following you.

That's a real work of art, I admire your carpentry skills! Great step by step video too, there's a lot of steps but the outcome is incredible!
Wet towel and an iron, wow that blew my mind. Thanks for the tip bro
Great! As always! I like the effect, that i actually do not need a planter Box, but in the way you Work it out, is much more Tipps and tricks for other things.......
Good to hear! Always trying to add a little value for you guys
Wow.. The colour of the wood, It's really beautiful..
Maybe i will try to build one.
Love your designs, work and the videos which are always well done, concise, and complete. Including mistakes. Thumbs up for that too.
Appreicate the feedback, Clyde!
Couldn't agree more with Clyde! Definitely one of my favorite channels and always look forward to your videos. Well done Brad!
Thank you, John!
Really great, spending that bit of extra time picking out the colour patterns really paid off!
It's the little details that always make the difference for me
First time ripping stuff on my table saw and found out the hard way to look out out those loose knots. Got a nice stamp on my forearm from it shooting back at me.
That little corner hole drilling jig is sweet! Great walkthrough
thanks, Timmy! It's the hat powering me on :)
Fix This Build That Hahaha! I knew you looked especially good in this one 😁
Cool stuff BR. Great to teach the kids about growing food!
Now to teach them to cook it!
4:43 Too cute. Love ALL your WORK.
Thank you!
Nicely done Brad the drainage system is awesome design. Take care my friend.
Thanks, Thom!
Thank you is Awesome project , one excelente ideia for share with son ,a plant flowers is joy for family .see grow,
Looks amazing!!! You just gave me an idea on what to build with a bunch of Cherry boards I just had kiln dried. Thanks!
Awesome, that will look great!
Excellent idea for drainage, just what I was looking for! Thank you.
Love your little example in the end it's really wholesome :) also nice project of course
I like the idea of your drainage, I will adopt that next time.

Richard's Woodshop that sounds like a good idea for the drainage and yes please do that video
Well made!
Those chamfers make the piece. Amazing how such a small detail makes a piece.
It's all about the little details

Love your tools. Great craftmanship. Seems like a lot of work though for a small return of planting a half dozen plants.
Your planter box is one of the nicest I've seen on UA-cam. And you have done an excellent job with this video. I will be making something like this, but am concerned about expansion and contraction with the sides and legs glued and screwed as you've done. How is your planter holding up?
Great video, you also explain alot in detail 👍
Wow. It turned out beautiful.
I like your work. Excellent job.
That’s a nice planter with a super idea for the drain.
Appreciate it!
Great build! Excellent video content and construction! I appreciate the free plans.
Happy June and Happy Fathers Day!
Beautiful planter box, now all I need is the tools 🤷🏻♀️
Great work as always. Thank you for guidance.
You're welcome!
Love the drainage concept. Are there any issues with using the plastic lining causing moisture buildup that will harm the herbs? I know some will drain, but there will not be any air circulation.
Hello! What do you recommend to do for the air circulation? Can I drill holes on the walls maybe?
Impressive production and techniques, wow. This would be awesome filled with ice and a bunch of cold drinks sticking out!
well damn, now i'm making 2 of them, one for my wife and daughter to plant stuff and one for me for cold beverages :)
Actually adding an auto watering system would take this construction to a whole new level!

Great job Brad. Came out looking great. Really like the warm glow of the finish
Thank you for your time, this a great built Keep building...
Awesome job Brad! 👍👊
thank you, Fred!
Great job as always Brad. Keep it up!
Appreciate it, Josh!
I like the PVC thing for drainage, such a smart idea!! Thanks for sharing : )
Great video. Straight forward but well explained.
Nice planter
Well now I have to build one! Great video.
Thank you!
Excellent description and camera angle. Thank you
Exceptionally beautiful build! Question: I don't understand the fabric? It's under the plastic and how is it doing anything to block soil? I think it's to stop saturation around the four holes. Yet the holes are over the PVC?
Great design!
thank you!
Very nice build, and I like the drainage solution you came up with, looks really good👍
Super clean
Simple enough now to try and build it.
Great job in explaining each step. Thanks. 😉
Good luck! You've got this 💪
Great build video! You’re explaining very well
Tis the season for planter boxes..good stuff brad
Yep, just in time for the end of plant of season
Ok, I need a bigger one for my trace so I will start with your method and share the result, thanks man
Great planter box! Only improvement I could make is to place the plastic sheeting on before placing the top edge on
Would be hard to screw in the pocket holes as the sheeting would cover them.
I’m gonna try and make this here soon but my modifications would be to angle the slats to the water flows to the drain and the other is to use gravel at the bottom then soil to help with drainage as others have complained about root rot and I have bird netting to keep them away so I may add two poles up the back to staple the netting too 🤔
that voicecrack at 0:19 love it
Nice work Brad! And I like the new logo ;)
Glad somebody noticed it 😀
Love that! Can't wait to build one myself... just need to get the house first :P
Perfect , congratulations brother, beautiful project!
Great job as always! Thanks for the free set of plans! Might need to build one myself soon.
Absolutely! Make sure to tag me if you build it
Fix This Build That Absolutely! This time I won’t do it in the comments where no one sees it
Fix This Build That Something happened during my checkout and I could not return to the checkout page to finalize getting the free plans for this project. Can you help with that please? Thanks.
I couldn’t get the plans either. Can you please send to me?
Ok so I bought my wood.....any chance I can use your workshop? Seriously though, very nice end product 👍
So beautiful thanks for sharing
Beautiful work .Thank you for the hints
I paid a fella for a couple of these builds..= planter boxes...In 2 seasons, the bottom fell out...lol wasted $180 ...I should of learned how to make these myself...lol
What a great project for the start of summer :-) Kudos! Love the channel.
Thanks, Kevin!
Great video, Brad. Wish you would slow the speed down to normal, so those who are not yet so advanced could learn in a more relaxed way. Hey, this could make you the new Norm Abrams of UA-cam! 😄🤔
Looks great thank you.
Love this design
Wow excellent job well-done love it
Best planter box yet .....well done ! I'll be doing this but using Domino's rather than pocket hole screws.
Hey Brad, great and informative video! I would suggest to adjust the lighting for your intros though. Feel free to message me if you have any questions or want to bounce any ideas off me. Have a good one!
Hey, great video by the way. I also love your table saw set up. You wouldn't happen to have a video on how to build one of those do you?
