Unfortunately, showed up at our local league tournament and two players had this deck in IRL. Posting this video shows the mechanics and helps to see what I could have done better. Lol that is why I am still watching.
I actually played against this deck the other day with chien pao. Basically as long as you only put down via le attackers and not put a support Pokemon down that can't attack the deck is pretty simple to beat. Gameplay might be boring but it helps learn how these decks work.
Man your content is super helpful for deciding which new decks I should play. Also good to be conscious of the new meta. Personally I play miraidon or chien pao palkia
Why have I reached the 24:30 mark in this video? Because I enjoy slow violence in PTCGL (as much as swift KOs), and this is what Snorlax stall deck is. I am in no mental state to navigate this anytime soon, but this and that one build of Venomoth quasi-stall by Andrew Mahone of Tricky Gym is just a stellar experience to watch.
Even though i do play a meme control deck, I have no interest in playing the Snorlax deck so I'm just watching this to learn how Snorlax plays so I can play against it
I personally enjoyed this video. It gives a lot of insight. Especially since a lot of snorlax decks are copy paste. It gives ideas how to play the match up.
I've found that it's only effective in the higher ladder ranks. People either play upwards of 12 switch cards, or, they use an ability to switch in and out... like, it's actually crazy just how bad some of these decks are, yet, they can beat this 'meta' stall deck with relative ease.
Or just sideboard any Pokemon that can help save attacks from either EX , V or just other normal pokemon in general cuz if you run a card that protects only from certain kind then others could just do the damage right?
I may have been able to bench a Mimikyu preemptively in the 2nd match to stall for time but they could have just as easily focused on Iron Valiant and I’d still be toast. There was definitely a chance for me to recover but the matchup on paper is awful with Iron Valiant being able to drop damage counters and having a ton of switch cards. Not to mention Lost City. Gg!
I rage quit against this deck earlier. I only play 1 switch in Gholdengo ex and I thought that I was fine as long as I didn’t bench anything that wasn’t capable of attacking. Then they used Erika to bench celebrations mew and that was GG instantly…. 🤬
I personally love playing snorlax stall not irl though; because I'm not that terrible. I sometimes like iono when I know I have a guaranteed win just to cause more psychological damage. In addition to that, if I can, I might play another iono.
my nephew has been asking about a stall deck recently as were talking about the Tord Reklev DQ at LAIC, that said this one is easy to build have all these cards on hand except the forest seal stones got keep the two i have in my deck lol
Welcome to the Pokemon TCG! While the economy in Live is certainly better than what we had before on PTCGO, especially since the game is pretty generous with giving players strong decks for free with the battle pass. However, having enough credits to build what you want is certainly a struggle. As a new player, definitely focus on unlocking the free decks on the battle pass. Use your gems to unlock the premium pass because the rewards are worth it. From there, use your gems to buy the Shadow Rider Calyrex League Battle Deck repeatedly. Every purchase after the 2nd should get you a few thousand gems each time. If you have money or already have play set of Celebrations cards, the most efficient way to build up credits is to get 4-of-a-kind of all the Celebrations cards so that you get a lot of credit for each pack you open. Celebrations packs/codes are so sought after because the set is the easiest to complete (50 cards in the set) and every card is a rare or above, making it the best for boosting. However, Celebrations codes are no longer cheap as this strategy is well known and you’re gonna have to open up a bunch of packs first before the credits really start rolling in.
@@InThirdPerson use your gems to buy the Shadow Rider Calyrex League Battle Deck....is this exclusive to this bundle? and when you say gems....you mean crystals right?
I like to watch a good trolling/controlling deck. What is that card that stops your opponent using item cards in next round? Found it, Banette ex and Venomoth.
I don't think it's because it isn't a known quantity. Snorlax Stall actually existed as a strong deck archetype years ago [2013 bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Snorlax_(Plasma_Storm_101)] and as far as I know, is still a strong deck in Expanded. However, its use in Standard competitive play in 2023 has been niche at best and teching specifically for Snorlax isn't seen as being worth it for most players, as the techs required to beat Snorlax make most decks worse against pretty much every other deck in the format. However, with strong showings in online tournaments and IRL events (including today's win at Gdansk Regionals), the community really needs to start thinking about how seriously it wants to tech for Snorlax.
I personally love playing snorlax stall not irl though; because I'm not that terrible. I sometimes like iono when I know I have a guaranteed win just to cause more psychological damage. In addition to that, if I can, I might play another iono. I also like to play tsreena ex with vaniluxe irl and online because it's fun to see your opponent suffer a bit.
i have not played Pokemon in many years and back when i played with my friend at the time we played without energy cards as we did not have many of them back then anyway fast forward to now i have more time on my hands and wanted to pick up a new card game to go along with both magic and yugioh and my friend knows i like to play control decks due to my disability issues that limit my ability to play complicated decks so thus they put me on this deck so i am watching your video but i have a question as i am new to playing the game the proper way what are some decks that pose a threat to me as a snorlax player? thank you for any help in this matter and maybe in the future if i get good enough i will take up this game as another competitive outlet
Certainly iron Valiant Entei, or any deck that can damage you even if you have an active pokémon trapped. Most decks now don't play many switch cards though, so don't worry too much about it.
Definitely an annoying deck to play against meta. For example chien-pao needs to burn their cross receivers to get out (though I guess you could just flip coins with bibarrel), and most decks even then outside of lost box and iron valiant might run 2-3 “switch” effect cards at best, and without a more general way to recover items outside of like darkrai vstar, it gets annoying fast.
This deck is really a knowledge check. If you see you are facing this deck you are not gonna go bench crazy and only play your pokemon that can attack.
@@EliezerPerez5 the Alakazam deck hardly has any switches. Just need to wait for them to take a knockout on a snorlax and then great catcher their klefkis out of the active
I'm playing against this deck right now. I'm 4 prizes to 0, have two more cards in deck and the timer is on my side. I hope he's having fun, because this is boring as shit.

Klawf has some inherent advantages against Snorlax, such as being able to hit Snorlax and Rotom for weakness, as well as having a few switch cards handy. Other meta decks as currently built have a much tougher time against Snorlax and will likely need to add techs to fix that match-up. Some meta decks that really struggle against Snorlax include Gardevoir, Charizard, and Chien-Pao. play.limitlesstcg.com/decks/snorlax-stall/matchups?format=standard&rotation=2023&set=PAR However, Snorlax can still beat Klawf if it can successfully trap a support Pokemon in the active. There’s not a lot of online tournament data to go off of at the moment, but Snorlax still wins or at least comes to a draw a good amount if the time vs Klawf: play.limitlesstcg.com/decks/klawf-electrode/matchups?format=standard&rotation=2023&set=PAR

This can be easily countered with erika and lure model, we delay as much as possible until you have attach the energy and then lure or erika
You’d think Tail Smash would hit on a Tails coin clip!
I'm guilty of liking your videos before even watching them lol the content is just unbeatable

I’m watching it to know how to counter cause it really sucks to play against (:

yes but erika invitation and horn put u a pokemon in game to stall ,,,
I watched this TWICE :D

one of the most ashehole deck in the ladder. It is so boring. It is wasting time. 9/10, I am winning it

Why are we watching? Personally because I'm a noob and I want to learn more about the TCG game play 😅
