I'm actually thinking Dragapult or Terapagos since Raging Bolt needs more ultra rares than available in a League Battle Deck. (That and League Battle Decks have had a maximum of 2 different energy types, so Raging Bolt needing 3 different types may be too complex) Terapagos is also a mascot for the Horizons anime so you'll draw in the casual crowd with that one too, and the Noctowl engine is going to be more important post rotation.
the second raging bolt came up in the prediction i went OF COURSE!!! i think it's going to be a strong candidate for a league battle deck and tbh i'm gonna get one if they did make it
I'm hoping for something a little more interesting than Raging Bolt. It makes sense, of course, but it would just be nice to have something that's not so simplistic.
I don’t think they’ll include Squawkabilly because that’s part of the recent Trainers Toolkit, which they’ll want to sell more of as well. Plus buying both the toolkit and a deck isn’t a bad pairing.
it's the most likely one, but it's a deck i try to keep new players away from bc it's very linear, it's so easy to play that it's easy for them to create bad habits about sequencing or prize mapping (I''ve seen many raging bolts prime catcher a single prizer 70hp mon bc they didn't have enough energy on board to KO a 2 prizer, players who never use ogerpon to attack in the zard matchup or those who try to avoid discarding the energy on an active raging bolt at all costs)
It's probably Bolt/ogerpon, but there's no way to fit all it needs to be strong with only 6 holos (ideally you want 4 bolts, 3 ogerpons, fez and prime catcher), it's also a bit boring if they repeat the same Ace Spec, which makes a stronger case for Dragapult (or even Terapagos with a Crystal over the catcher). If they managed to include Energy Search Pro, then Gholdengo would be my favorite pick, but seems unlikely
Pokemon have never packaged every holofoil card a complete build would need. Mew VMAX was short 2 Genesect V, 1-2 Mew V, and 1 Mew VMAX, and that didn’t stop Pokemon from releasing it. If anything, many players bought 2 to complete their Pokemon lines. Miraidon came with NONE of its support holofoil Pokemon (Squawkabilly) and NONE of its attack Pokemon (Raikou, Raichu), and Pokemon still released it. I understand how Pokemon landed on Regieleki at the time of production, but it was a massive miss. Being able to pick an archetype that meets their production limitations is a consideration for sure, but it’s not the primary consideration when Pokemon builds these.
@InThirdPerson yeah you're right, that part wasn't really a good point on my end, im mostly salty bc the ace spec would repeat and the deck is good but not really that fun also now that i think about it, how will they build a list with no pokestop? That does sound interesting at least
Definitely thinking Terapagos or Even a Pikachu ex. I know it's not listed in any worlds yet but there are a few solid ways to build that deck all with current G and H block cards that really push the sales of the current sets if wanting to construct. Also, It's Pikachu, Why not push their mascot to the test with a league battle deck, I'd be shocked if we didn't see more decks winning tournaments with Pikachu, I had a solid 10 game win streak with my build and It went up against Charizard, Raging bolt and 1 other Pikachu ex dec that was built completely different so I'd be excited to see what ends up being used if a deck list made it to champion status.
Pikachu won't be the next one in spring because turnaround time is too short. If you go back and look at the time a deck debuts to the time the deck gets converted to a League Battle Deck, the turnaround time is at minimum 8 months. These decks take a long time to produce and there are all sorts of weird quirks in their designs due to how long production takes, from Miraidon being paired with the Regieleki line (because that's what was popular when Pokemon made the decision to convert it into a League Battle Deck) to the Palkia deck not having any Nest Balls (which were released around the same time as Palkia but not enough time to incorporate them into the deck). When it comes to the November 2025 drop, it's totally possible for Pikachu to get that League Battle Deck spot IF it proves to be competitively-viable enough relative to other strong decks. But they would have to know that by spring 2025 at latest, which is similar timing to Miraidon's release. Simply being a popular Pokemon isn't enough to ensure a League Battle Deck spot. Koraidon is a mascot of Scarlet & Violet and it has lower-level decks, but not a League Battle Deck because Koraidon cards simply aren't good enough. To Pokemon's credit, they always pick decks that are some of the strongest in competitive play for League Battle Decks. If Pikachu can reach that echelon in time (and that's a big if), that would boost its case for a League Battle Deck dramatically.
Dragapult is the clear winner here. I've already built the deck myself so wouldn't buy it, but with the limitations of the LBD (and also to avoid being boring with Raging Bolt), they surely have to go with the dragon. Also a cool opportunity to use dusknoir
Any recs on a deck for someone just starting. I really want to build something that’s either grass or psychic and want to make sure it’s rotation proof so most likely not gardevoir unfortunately. Thanks in advance!
this one has cards that will be playable for a year and a half more or less. If you want my advice, as someone who worried about rotation when I started to play, don't think about it until it happens, Pokémon is the cheapest TCG to play, with 50-100 dollar decks max winning championships and relevant trainer cards/support pokemon being shared between decks (the expensive cards are special illustration variants of cheaper cards most of the time). If you try to be "rotation proof" and avoid getting important cards for a deck like charizard like rotom V or radiant charizard, you'll have a worse deck than everyone else and a very frustrating experience (there's a guy at my locals that doesn't want to play any cards that will rotate soon, he loses a ton), yes those cards will rotate in 5-6 months, but during that time you'll learn the game with better tools, you will understand how other players use them and be ready to find replacements post rotation. TLDR: don't worry about rotation, play every card at your disposal until they are gone
So screw this dude, next rotation is probably in march and the cards we are losing are the “F” cards you can tell what class their in by looking at the bottom left of the card there will be a letter there currently FGH cards are set we are in with I coming later in the future and eventually phasing out F cards
Copag has yet to give any news of when they are releasing charizard ex battle deck in brazil 😭 I have all the pieces to upgrade it but not even sure if we will even get it this year.
i believe he already has, but the main takeaway is that for this format, Charizard is most competitive with Gardevoir close behind. The other LBDs arent entirely in rotation so you'd need to make adjustments to make them legal for tournament play in 2024/5
I did a ranking in my latest League Battle Deck buyer’s guide ua-cam.com/video/ByLBl8_aLC4/v-deo.htmlsi=chbTmqb8l5KcmOng It’s right at the end but I explain the pros and cons of each deck throughout

We had Mew VMAX with 2-2-2 Mew, Mew VMax and Genesect, a Bolt list with 3 Bolts, 2 Ogerpon and an ace spec is quite possible.
As a Roaring Moon fan, I say Roaring Moon. But it’s probably gonna be Raging Bolt.

The assumption that an ace spec to be included in a league battle deck makes sense given the weird exclusion of ace specs in the trainer toolkit
I hope that Pokemon sorts that out for next year’s Trainer’s Toolkit. It makes perfect sense for them to have at least 1 Ace Spec, if not more.
I don’t think they’ll include Squawkabilly because that’s part of the recent Trainers Toolkit, which they’ll want to sell more of as well. Plus buying both the toolkit and a deck isn’t a bad pairing.
definitely putting my money on raging bolt ogerpon :)

I hope not. Everything I'm seeing from people points to that deck being pretty boring.

PokeStop isn’t a dealbreaker for Raging Bolt. It may or may not get a replacement, but I don’t see the loss of PokeStop breaking the deck.
I feel like a more evolution deck is better, terapagos is my top pick

I’ve got a cool idea for deluxe battle decks:
Iron leaves and walking wake
11:50 Petition for squawkaluna to be a new Pokémon 😂
Lowkey want RM-EX, been wanting to play it for a hot minute (other than zard-ex)
I agree, had lots of fun with it online

If i didn't already have a Charizard deck, I would've picked this up.
I think Gholdengo is way more likely than anything after Bolt, and Dragapult
My three Picks would be Raging Bolt, Dragapult ex and Roaring Moon ex.
So I'm new to pokemon and I don't know how the rotation works. If I buy this, how long will it still be a legal deck?
Questions relating to rotation I answer in my FAQ video, which you can find here ua-cam.com/video/c7Baf9AYwvw/v-deo.htmlsi=L02oo2PLYT4CiUA8

Ideally it should be Dragapult ot Terapagos but it will probably be Bolt
Im looking to get into pokemon tcg and alot of the vids gut like half of the charizard deck compared to the gardevoir
Aren’t many retailers in Australia at a reasonable price rn (charizard)
Copag has yet to give any news of when they are releasing charizard ex battle deck in brazil 😭

Hello, do you plan to rank the new decks ? I want to buy 2 League batlle deck to play with my brother, what are the most competitive ? :) thanks

As someone who lives on the other side of the planet, I have no insight on the Australian market.
Poke stop is F that is the main thing it’s losing
