I got my Becker Companion in Iraq. Becker was going out of business and they sent my unit a shipment of knives. I was happy to find out they are with Kabar and still making good knives. My only complaint about mine is, the generation I have has serrations. Still a great knife though!
I've tried many knives, machetes and mini axe to cut down the rampaging Bamboo in my garden that was damaging the concrete flooring near my house. All of them got blunt easily and were ineffective against the bamboos. Then I got this beast and cut down more than a dozen bamboos with ease and the edge was still sharp after using it for the whole day. This knife is a legendary beast.
I am looking at this knife now. I was looking at the BK7 for my survival knife, but then I saw this is a 5.25" blade. The BK7 must be a flippin sword! Thanks for giving it a test!
I just ordered one from Amazon. I have two of the BK9’s and they are excellent blades. As crazy as this sounds I plan on carrying the BK2 as an EDC because here in Texas you can legally carry any size of knife. Saw a dude carrying a sword down the road one time 😅.
I bought my BK2 at the $50 price way back. I suggest if you need to chop through a thick branch such as the last in your video, you baton through it, holding knife at an angle for better penetration and " beaver chew" through it by batonning ...I could get through that branch in under 2 minutes using the aforementioned technique and I'm no pro at this, lol. I haven't sharpened it in a very long time because I hone it after every use, running it across a knife steel, ( I use a Victorinox ) and strop it. Takes about 3 minutes, stays sharp!
i own bk2 and bk9 (and im on hunt to get BK5 for reasonable price), and to be fair, BK9 is (my personal opinion) slightly better as chopper. but if you need to force open locked doors or you need small prybar BK2 is way to go. love both, would gladly bet my life on both.
I love mine I took all the coating off and put a mirror shine on it and put a sharper edge on it . And it really is a beast ordered the kukri combat by ka bar to go along with it I'm a old school jar head so I must say I love ka bar with my life lol
Well - everyone calls it a beast, and by all accounts that’s definetely what it is, however it also seems that many long time users kinda end up not using it so much in the end, outside of the key applications, because while beasty - it’s not very general purpose, and you can get more versatile knives that are also doing the crowbar-with-an-edge thing decently but will also offer a bit more. The blade is not terribly long for batoning bigger pieces of wood or chopping if that’s your thing and if you are not doing that then it must be prying which it should be really good for, and then various carving tasks for which it’s probably generally on the clumsy side of things, never mind cooking. For the weight, you’d kinda not want to have to bring additional knives or tools for other jobs if you’re hiking so that seems like a thing too. I’ve always kinda wanted one, and also never tried one, so I don’t know from practice. It’s not an axe - it’s a knife but on the spectrum of knife stuff to do it seems to come out a comparatively one-dimensional.
I like my bk2 but it was really dull when it comes. I have to sharpen it for hours to be able to shave with it, i think they forget the fine grind at the factory 😢 I was really disabointed, but with a lot of modification and a good grind its a good knife for urban survival tasks and decent wood work. I think i have to switch to terävä because they are tough (check joe x) and more suitable in the woods. Also had the Eka Axeblade, excelent chopper and really sharp and good at carving but i chopp down a 3cm thick branch at -20 C/-4 F and it get a biig chip on the thin edge. I think it was to fragile for such a use where i live. Can someone give me advice for a knive that is togh, can carve, chopp and baton with. Have already a big mechate, morakiv (a dream to carve with) some folders, bk2, eka axeblade, But i want a „go to“ blade that i can trust it also to leverage, to use it in the woods (shelter, fire, cut throw branches) and sometime use in urban situations. Should not be bigger than 20cm blade length and longer than 15cm. Im a lot in youth work where we often need a good knife to make fire cut some sticks for marshmellows and i also love to visit lost places. I know the bk2 shold be perfect but i give my knive also sometimes our youngsters to cut their meal around the camp and the bk2 is just too clumsy for that tasks. 😅 Sorry for that long text but i really need a good work horse for the task i mentioned 😅😂

I wouldn't recommend that *ANYONE* take an axe with them, *UNLESS* .... they have some practice in using one ... *SAFELY.* (Last time I *TRIED* using an axe ... I couldn't hit the same place twice in a row!)
I like it the day it came about 3 years ago I got online and bought the micarta handles they were $50 the knife was $125 and I want a better sheath but with already having $175 into it I just can't bring myself to buy a kydex ill have to learn how to make one soon I want to get into making kydex sheaths
I'm gonna have to say no for the price. I can get a ontario SP5 for $50. Really I personally like 5160 better then 1095. Kabar is a nice knife just prices are high for what you get. That's why I don't buy Tops knives either. I really don't understand why production knives have gone up so high but give you nothing for it.

You are very welcome.
Wooo hell yeah this thing is a tank had it since 2014! I took off that coating after a couple of weeks of use in the bush.
I just got my knife a few minutes ago. Thank you so much for helping me in making the choice to buy this.
I have one of these and really like it. Got it at a gunshow for 40$ several years ago.
Thanks, man. Excellent demonstration. I may buy it but would love the price to come down a bit.
Just purchased this BK2. Can’t wait to put it to use. Great info and honest review 💪🏽
I think you’ll enjoy it. It’s an awesome knife!
Good honest review. I have one and like yours its super tough. A tank of a knife. Paired with the BK 9 what more could you want for out in the bush .
Thx for sharing👍 yes, it is a beast! His brother is the Esee 5. BK2 is cheaper with a better handle but the Esee 5 has a better sheath. Take care 🤗
He we go again lol the becker bk 2 has already been proven to be better its been a decade of us talking and the bk is better
The becker has been broken by the way
@@warlantactical any knife can break including the esee 5 when Joe x breaks it. The video is on UA-cam

But then Indiana Jones showed up, looking tired and irritable and just shot him with his revolver …

I only have the BK2, the extra length on the bk9 would definitely be better for chopping and batoning.
@@MNWoodland yeah it is, but its thinner too. that's why im saying if you need prybar more, pick bk2 ;) .

I acquired the BK-2 around 14 years ago for $ 62.00 bucks delivered and never looked back.
Isnt the GI Tanto more sturdy? This is a litle more well crafted of course.

Which morakniv do you have? The Garberg is their full tang knife and people seem to really like it for bushcraft.
@@MNWoodland i have the companion. Garberg is a beautiful knife but i think too short to chopp with 😐
That's ok you cut through, some hard ass wood
Indeed
It's nice when it was cheaper but it's starting to touch upper tier knife prices hopefully it doesn't price itself out.

I can’t believe the number of guys on these knife video’s who done have any idea how to handle a knife properly
Well therefore, show US all how it's done Stud.

Joe X broke this knife. Check out his video on UA-cam. Massive abuse, but broken nonetheless.
That guy does some very extreme tests for sure.
Watch ("Survival Instinct" "Becker bk2 beyond abuse"). He beats on the bk2 a thousand times with a hammer before it breaks.
Crappy edge out from the box. I had to regrind.

That’s definitely not a chopping knife… more like creating tender knife.. starting fire knife.. lol
Yeah it’s not quite long enough, but can still get the job done!
Yes the BK2. Very. Nice. Check out some of my videos
