Damn after the preseason, he's looking great at that cdm. He's playing much more simple and direct. Last season I wasn't convinced he could take over busi cause he always tried too much and was looking more like a cm frenkie than busi but damnnn he's ready now
Yeah , last season was his first in main team, hard to expect every player to be like gavi or pedri who cemented themselves in their first season itself, especially for a position like the single pivot it's bound to take time, hopefully by next year he's ready to be starter material after busi leaves
he was always ready he proved that in the b team after transitioning from interior to cdm. before that he was known mostly for his silky dribbling but he proved he is also a defensive bulldog.. the most important talent we have imo, his dribbling provides the option busquets was lacking when teams commit to high press, nico can singlehandedly break the entire first line of press with just a couple touches and nice acceleration
He played as interior last season, occasionally as LW hence completely normal to run with the ball. Unlike a Cdm where his supposed to keep things simple and tidy.

@@vulindlelamagagula7793 yeah, and now slowly he's developing the abilities to be good enough to hold a spot in the main team for the pivot position, in the pre season he's already shown how better he's got in terms of passing between the lines and dictating the play, he's still got a long way to go but fingers crossed after this season which is busi's last, nico proves himself to be the starting pivot
Nico is Legit ready to rotate with Busquets this season. We just need one or two more players to have good replacements for every player.

I already decided from Inter Miami that he has to stay. Wanted to see him in this game. He is definitely ready to deputy Busi this season to take over next season. But he must get as much minutes possible.
He can be too relaxed sometimes, thinking he has more time than he actually does. But that aside, he's brilliant
I always thought this about him
I see where you getting at. This was the game I wanted to see him in that role. He has to improve on his awareness and ability to scan and think ahead when teams press. He hasn’t been tested and he got woke from that game. These qualities will only improve with gameplay. He’s solid and can be a #6 for us now in rotation and moving forward as a possible clear starter if he improves.
Sloppy at times. Once he works on that he will be one of the best

Aside from being sloppy at times, I can see he has many attributes to succeed Busquets as the single pivot or deep-lying playmaker role. But then again, the upcoming season will be the final season for Busi. It's understandable that no one will be able to replace Busi perfectly not even Rodri from MCFC whose style is the closest. So, let's see if Nico can step up and be the one that will cover the pivot role long-term.
Rodri can't even bench busquets at national team, busquets is just too good, hardest to replace after Messi, Messi is irreplaceable, pep Guardiola's replacement took over a decade when he himself gave busquets a chance before that nobody was able to match pep in midfield not even Xavi, who played as a CDM for years.

Intelligent and tactically astute, very gifted physically and on the ball. Busi has some competition this season.
a productive cdm role at fc barca might be the toughest job on the pitch. so much play goes through you in a spot that is super prone to enormous pressure from opponents. you have to watch essentially every player on the pitch (your own as well as opponents) to keep an eye out for open passing lanes. so much depends on your quality to maneuver around constant pressure, set up for quality passes, and give quality passes, and receive passes with a perfect touch. you have to position yourself perfectly to maximize your space in order to progress play. its actually insane that busquets was so good at it and looked so natural bc when you see someone else try to replicate it, you just know that they're gonna mess up over and over and over bc its that hard to master. no doubt nico looked decent, but its a job that he will learn through failure. good luck to him. he'll need it.

this game it looked like nico was really just trying to position himself correctly on the field, look for open players, and orient himself in the right direction to evade defenders and always have simple passes available in case of trouble. the next step will be evaluating your teams positioning and the opponents and finding the optimal pass to progress play productively. you can see nico taking his time to evaluate possibilities and make the right choices by having his head constantly on a swivel. its not quite natural for him yet so you hes taking it slow and you can see him take it slow. even when he knows the passing lane is there, he double checks himself and the player he will pass to in order to communicate that hes gonna pass it (which isnt ideal but a good indicator that he's in the command and his teammates will listen to what he wants to do with the ball). this position will certainly be a leadership role and it looks like hes taking it head on. if he can do this job consistently for a season or two, he could really become an excellent fast manipulating and distributing cdm. he must get significant experience in the role and develop good patterns of play with his teammates if he really wants to succeed. xavi needs to give him at least 30-45 mins a game if he wants nico to grow in this role.

Un muy serio relevo a Busquets y de la casa. Ojalá tenga la humildad y mentalidad de trabajo porque tiene unas condiciones increíbles. Por su técnica y potencia física me recuerda mucho a Yaya Toure pero en español. Si Xavi lo ubica bien de pivote habría que celebrarlo a lo grande.

@@tatablaise7741 if kounde arrives there's practically no space for frenkie, we'll be well stocked for the cb positions, Nico and busi seem to be in the running for the pivot spots, and Xavi seems to prefer Kessie and gavi for the RCM role

Keep Nico and let Frenkie De Jong leave if he will not lower his wage enough. Nico has the talent to make it in a year or two, he'll be up there with the very best in our midfield.

I like bosquets and his style , but Nico should play faster and more confident he stops a lot the ball in the counterattack I know it's safe for keeping the ball but it will let the other team easily defense , for 20 year old it's fantastic so far

U can see he isn't much passing enough in final 3rd and most passes are wide. He is nervous to lose ball and need some confidence to make a through pass

He takes to much time to decide the best pass, with experience he'll become quicker but has play tons of minutes in that position. Still I think if he focuses on his career he'll succeed in that position.
I saw that too but i guess its bcz hes still learning his decision making will improve look at pedri for instance n gavi is following the same path bcx of much needed game time
if you see any similaites with busi and this guy you have been fooled by xavi. hes not bad, but xavis dream to make an all spanish midfield is inflating some of these players actual value/ability. there is nothing thse guys are doing that frenkie cant do., and even do better. such a shame a balon dor level talent like that is getting shunned by spanish bias. really thought he was going to be at the centre of barcas future when he signed.

Le falta ser mas receptivo con el balon y atacar mas los espacios, aveces me parece un poco lento con el traslado o la profundidad de la pelota. Debe ser mas agresivo porque el físico, la fuerza y la habilidad la tiene. Podria ser un tipo Araujo pero en la contension ¡Vamos!
