Very nice work!! I just got into lasers a couple months ago...have been doing slate with my CO2 laser but wow when I can afford my next laser I'm getting a fiber...definitely following you know for more tutorials!!
Thanks for the video. 1st time on your channel. Did using the fiber laser change the color of the engraving. I currently do not like how my coasters come out using a 10W diode. GRAY! Is there a way to engrave them WHITE?
@@FiberLaserTraining Doing great. Had to take a break for a bit with new job. Just got an 80W MOPA, so I will likely be setting up some training after the holidays. Have a great Xmas if we don't talk again!
It’s all related to other things. If only coins then the 50w is preferred. If also doing guns the 30w is preferred. Unless you want colors on SS Then the raycus is fine.
I did a few slate for the first time yesterday while using the Omtech 180 fume extractor and omg it smelled horrible. Is that normal?? If not I wonder what the heck happened to cause the smell. Do you vent or use a fume extractor for your fiber? I tried like hell to get white and never could. I have the EMP 50w raycus.
Yes the smell is not pleasant. The lense you use will determine the colors you can get! We use a self contained hepa/charcoal filter and they work super well.
Jeff, not sure if you stated this but are you sealing before you engrave? I’ve tried both ways and can’t really get a noticeable difference. But then again I’m using co2 not fiber.
It kinda does look like that but all passes are ran in succession. It ran the job like this Pen0/hatch1> pen1/hatch2> pen2/hatch3> It ran each pen assigned to a hatch 8 times. Go back and watch my coin video that outlines the hammer shovel sweep method. That’s what’s going on here. Hammer shovel sweep repeat 8xs
Your CO2 Looks like mine. The top is so full of stuff it takes 20 min. to clear the top to use it. My shop is small. Every surface is an assembly table. LOL

The fibers natural color after it hits slate is usually bright white.
I don’t have a diode so we do not really have a comparison.
Love the content,I used to do coasters on my co2 but now I think I will switch to the fiber
Awesome news man.
They’re pretty fast.
If you mess up on slate you can 'erase' it by sanding it with an orbital sander. I use 100 grit paper followed by 220 grit.
That’s a great tip! I know I have some messed up ones laying around here somewhere!
I’ll have to try it.
Good stuff, Jeff. Noah is a natural! Keep the Dad jokes.
Thanks man! How ya been?!

Where do we find the Hammer, Shovel, and Sweep method explanation? Sorry, I looked around and couldn’t pick it out.
ok, I skipped the exact wrong one. I think I found it :)
@@TonyGambee awesome. Hope it helps!!!

You're welcome!
Just found your channel. Love the content.
What laser would you recommend for coins? 30w vs50w raycus or jpt?

Great video Jeff! Say hi to Noah for me. Working on a design for a coin right now.
Indeed I will!!!!
Where did you source the coasters from. They look good. Well done.
We import them and sell cheap.

@@FiberLaserTraining ah ok. what lens do you usually use to get white??
I usually use the 175mm lense
I believe that’s what we used here.

Great question!
I do not seal the coasters at all, because that takes away from their natural ability to wick moisture as a stone.
@@FiberLaserTraining thanks brother. Keep the vidjahs coming.
@@billmulcahy3594 for sure boss!!!

It looks like you did 1 pass for pen 0 and pen 1 and then did 8 passes for pen 2. Is that right? If yes, why so many passes on the 3rd one?
It kinda does look like that but all passes are ran in succession.
It ran the job like this
Pen0/hatch1>
pen1/hatch2>
pen2/hatch3>
It ran each pen assigned to a hatch 8 times.
