  • Let's put Gyeon Leather Shield to the test!!
    Tesla's vegan leather interior (seats, armrest, steering wheel, parts of the door panels) is made of plastic and plant-based materials. Therefore, your seats and other high-wear areas are extremely susceptible to deteriorating over time due to oils and UV rays being the primary culprit.
    You can help prevent this deterioration by applying Gyeon Leather Shield - a ceramic coating made especially for all types of leather.

    Admittedly this test is borderline useless without a control. The take-away you’re presenting is the product doesn’t work, without comparing it to an untreated surface.

    I just subscribed to your channel. Sorry that Sharpie wasn't 100% out man. I would try a steamer and some leather cleaner maybe. Anyway, thanks so much for this video!

    I would recommend spraying outside of the car into the towel to get a better coat of product in your towel. You have specific spots and that doesn't work as well. Also on the White Tesla seats I would recommend Dodo Juice Super Natural leather cleaner. It works insanely well on removing anything on the seats. Been using that since day 1 on my Model 3 and Y (2021 and 2023). With over 40k kilometers/year no stains, no fading. Tesla has their seats coated from the factory, same with most non-aniline leather.
    I've removed oil, dirt, grease just about anything you get in your car with moving kids and dogs.

    Blue jean dye transfer is gonna protect too? Is there any study to showing test result from blue jean rubbing with pressure?

    • @tesbros
      @tesbros  Рік тому +6

      It creates a barrier so it should help with this. But our next video idea is to get a brand new jean with a lot of dye and rub it on our seats and let them sit for a week and clean it off. We'll do half coated and the other half non-coated to show the difference too. Stay tuned!

      I've installed this product on numerous vehicles with various color leather seats. The ones that I maintain regularly that have shown denim jean transfer have come clean with a couple spritz of leather cleaner on a damp towel using very little effort.

    When you use the interior cleaner and scrub with the microfiber, doesn’t that remove the ceramic coating if you do it enough times?

    • @tesbros
      @tesbros  7 місяців тому

      Our interior cleaner doesn't have harsh chemicals in it, so scrubbing with a non-abrasive microfiber like this one won't do much for the coating. You'd have to polish it off to really make an impact. The coating does last about 6 months though, so overtime, it will wear down, and then you can reapply.

    After applying to a white seats (new car). Should I be be applying a Gyeon leather dressing to keep the leather nice? Or just leave it?

    • @tesbros
      @tesbros  5 місяців тому

      Gyeon LeatherShield is all you need if you want to ceramic coat it and keep it in good shape. No other coatings required on top. tesbros.com/products/gyeon-q-leather-shield-bundle

    After using interior cleaners and rubbing alcohol on your seats to clean, does it wear our the gyeon shield and should I apply sooner than 1 year? Thanks!

      Wondering the same thing

    • @tesbros
      @tesbros  Рік тому +1

      The interior cleaner doesn't have any harsh chemicals in it and won't deteriorate the ceramic coating. The alcohol is a bit harsher and I did rub pretty hard with that, so I might coat that one panel that was tested on again just for my peace of mind, but it shouldn't do a lot of damage to it. I could still very much feel the slick coating even after all the testing. What really would get it off would be a polisher with polishing compound.

      @tesbros  Рік тому +3

      What I do highly recommend is if you drive your car everyday, I would coat just the driver seat about every 6 months instead of a year.

    • @alexchiem2873
      @alexchiem2873 Рік тому +1

      @@tesbros Gotcha. Thanks! So even if I rub pretty hard with baby wipes or interior clearner, the coating is pretty strong? Do you recommend rubbing alcohol to get jeans stains off as well? I got most of it off but I can see a faint blue line sometimes and I did apply gyeon right when I got the car.

    • @tesbros
      @tesbros  Рік тому +1

      @@alexchiem2873 Yes, it's a very strong coating and those cleaners are fine to use on it - but keep in mind that the coating does wear overtime. I would try using a microfiber and small amount of rubbing alcohol on that stain as long as it's on the gyeon. (I wouldn't recommend if it was directly on the vegan leather as it can dry it out.)

    Does this work on Tesla model S perforated seats?

    I think like you said at the end. How does the protection compare
    to a seat that doesn't have Gyeon

    • @tesbros
      @tesbros  Рік тому +2

      I'm not sure I'm willing to sacrifice my seats for that test 😅 but maybe I can get a vegan leather swatch to test it on.

    • @65sohc
      @65sohc Рік тому +2

      I was thinking just that. To be more scientific you need a control. Maybe Tesla already treats their seats so they would have emerged unstained without the Gyeon.

    Should have used a dry erase marker over the permanent marker 🙂

    • @BlackIce1619
      @BlackIce1619 Рік тому

      With a dry eraser, make sure you are careful as it acts like a very high sandpaper. It will remove the mark for sure but also may impact the coating. I would suggest an APC instead of alcohol. Gyeon APC or my preference is Koche Chemie Green Star 10:1. Glad you got the stain off!

    Aren't Teslas supposed to use "fake" leather?

      Yeah it’s vegan leather. Leather shield works just fine for it too

  • @chrisbradley3224
    @chrisbradley3224 9 місяців тому

    Leather Shield was designed for real leather I would think... There are other coatings that would be better on vinyls like vegan leather. Gyeon says all leather but vegan leather isn’t leather at all.
