    Best thing about this group set is the price. Seems like Campy have built in enough margin to replace faulty ones at least 3 times over and still make money....

    Campy is like high end wrist watches. People who have, have it because of the "craftsmanship" and "heritage" more than practicality. It's still a name to be reckoned with. If you have old Italian bikes, Campagnolo is the goal... if you can afford it.

    Even if it was free I wouldn’t want it. It’s nice when it’s new but when it wears out it’s expensive to maintain and shops don’t have parts and tools to work on it. Campag is just a pain in the ass.

    The changes CAMPAG makes to its product price hike is all ways first even when there is no change on its products
    Sadly pricing lots of people out is kinda like blackout restrictions in major league baseball 😂

    As long as I'm into cycling, 0,1% of the bikes I've seen were actually featuring Campagnolo, that doesn't include my old bike. To be fair, the brand never positioned themselves as competitive in pricing. So, there were hardly any stock bikes except few brands offering top-of-the-range Super Record builds but I've never seen a mechanical Chorus option, simply because they weren't meeting the price point in any segment except top-of-the-range where it doesn't matter. It feels as if they've totally screwed up with this update: ditching the only USP they had, mimicking SRAM in a bad way whilst still retaining the insanely high price tag for sure doesn't improve their market share. It is a shame.

      They had a small kick in sales around Covid times, they were the only groupsets available...
      But yes I agree it's fairly rare, working 5+ years in the bike industry I don't see them that often and i basically never had the chance to work on the newers Campa iterations.

    • @DoNuT_1985
      @DoNuT_1985 Рік тому

      @@necrodefecator I've only seen Campy on higher-spec 2000s bikes ridden by older cycling aficionados. No offense, that probably just backs the theory that enthusiasts are buying what they see in races and Campag was much more common in the peloton 20+ years ago. Not sure what went wrong. Did they get dropped by teams because Shimano (and now SRAM) have the better product or could they just not keep up with the expenses of sponsoring multiple pro-level teams...

    The reason why these companies have the guts to set these outrageous prices is us. Its our fault that we keep spending money on this stupid things because we want to look cool. I am not necessarily paying for it, but I am including myself as part of the problem because I am also a consumer but lets boycott these companies and see what they will do if we stop spending and buying their products, budlight style

  • @belverticale

    Ludicrous price. Plus those derailleurs look waaayyyy too clunky with those batteries, much more so than the SRAM sets...it's very ugly from a company from Italy, supposedly the home of aesthetic design. If they were smart, then Campy would come up with a 12-speed mechanical and make it cheaper and lighter than the new overpriced Di2-only 105. That'd sell well I reckon. This though, why would you buy this instead of Shimano or SRAM? Genuinely asking.

    Maybe the Campagnolo is priced high when sold retail to make it more appealing when you get it on a new bike ? As in it helps the bike manufacturer up spec their product and they are paying less. Just a theory to try explan the insane price. I wonder what a manufacturer would pay?

    Quote me because I might be wrong, but the last truly high-end (unless you consider Dolan "high-end") Carbon road bike frameset that is offered in Rim brakes brand New, not used or an older model, is the Time Alpe d'Huez. Everything else is disc-brake.

    Can someone please explain to me why anyone would pay more for Campy than they would for an equivalent Shimano or Sram groupset? I'm not being a smart arse, I genuinely want to know the reasons. Is Campy just that much better?
    I also think that they've missed a trick. Shimano and Sram are disc brake only now. It would have been a good opportunity to release a rim brake groupset as well so as to try to corner that market

    • @gs78798
      @gs78798 Рік тому +1

      @Neil Turner I don't know for sure, but it is always said that the components last longer (chain etc) and the overall quality is very high. Longevity seems to be important for Campag. The brakes have a good reputation too. (I remember something like they are developed with Magura but not sure.) That said: I am not in the market for these high end groupsets, neither Shimano Dura Ace nor Sram Red nor Super Record. So probably the customers who buy these expensive groupsets have other reasons. Maybe they don't care about spending more money and they want the longevity and good service from their local bike shop who offers Campagnolo? But not sure...

      @departurexx1520 Рік тому +1

      I can answer you this, I'm from Shimano to CAMPY....and i'm not going back to Shimano. Resaon:
      - Better quality in terms of material use = better power transfer when you ride.
      - Carbon lever. FD, RD etc etc.
      - Ceramic bearing
      Many newbie do not know this, each groupset material use are different, the higher end groupset are more expensive.
      Rival or 105Di2 are the most rip off, material use are bad...YES!! they can do the job but if u looking for a performance... than this 2 groupset is not what you want especially with the price now. I'll rather spend the money on a CAMPY Super Record 11speed mechanical or Dura Ace 11speed Mechanical. But all this is just base on my experience. Cheers.

      The fact that Campagnolo uses proprietary cables and cable housings (4.1 mm for shift and 4.9 mm for brake instead of 4 and 5 mm respectively like everybody else) is already enough of a turn-off for me and don't get me started on the chain assembly that almost no chain breaker can do.

    When you can buy a really nice bike with mechanical shifting for what it costs for an electronic groupset...buy the bike. If you already have a nice bike with mechanical shifting, save your money. You're not a professional racer, and you don't need immediate shifting. Plus, I've never had the battery on my mechanical groupset go dead on me...because there isn't one. I'm not impressed when I see other cyclists with electronic shifting, quite the opposite. I think to myself what other, better things they could have spent their money on. Value impresses me. Foolish money isn't impressing anyone.

    That comes down to a couple things is why they are priced the way they are. One no glued together crap cranks proper carbon costs money. Number two being made in Europe and paying a European living wage to employees. That is not done in the sram shimano world how cheap is always first not craftmanship.
    I own a ekar group love it to death great for the price. Nothing at that price point has close to the craftsmanship. I have vintage campy road stuff on other bikes. Would love to have more but the budget doesn't allow it

    Strange and also stupid that they dropped their signature feature. Maybe the Pros a d Racers got into their ears, even though they form a very small % part of riders. This group is plain ugly, drab melting cranks, that Shimano dropped years ago, thankfully. Mechs that look like prototypes. Where is the elegance that we expect from Campag?
    Really Campagnolo should make an affordable e-group with the thumb shifter and get them specced onto mid range bikes, otherwise they are headed for oblivion with this direction.
    On a side note I had a significant hand injury 20 years ago, and could not effectively operate Shimano. Campys’ thumb shifter made me whole again on the bike, it keeps me riding.
