This film was highly underrated. That Joker film was too overhyped. People hyped it up cause many are brain dead millennials and gen-z who don't like watching many films before 2000s.
All these films have been done before. This was a classic, it was actually entertaining and there was something a bit more noble about this Douglas character. The only thing the movie Joker has going for it is the discussion it creates about going into madness,, and even that's been hijacked by the political establishment for "mentally ill" propaganda.
No, she thought he was a dork. The way she tells him he can't have breakfast is matter-of-fact, bordering on smug. She seems to enjoy the argument between him and her boss - I suspect she doesn't like her boss - but it looks like she sees it as an amusing tussle between dorks livening up her monotonous day.

I saw this masterpiece when I was a kid. One of favorite movies of ALL time. I LOVE this movie. It's so accurate, it's scary. I love how he's walking around casually with a selective fire Tec-9, just asking reasonable questions about what's wrong with the world. "Falling Down" is a masterpiece. I wish more people knew about it.
Funny thing is that the Tec-9 in real life is exclusively not select fire and really just a shitty cheap pistol, but the fact that so many movies portrayed it as a automatic killing machine (plus it was used in Columbine) meant that it's pretty much banned everywhere.
It's kind of a movie that you wonder how the hell it got approved and made, and was successful, when it pretty much pisses all over the entire system in America.

When they start to make a exception for him, they need to start to make another exception for the next guy that comes in after 11:30, then they need to make another exception for something different because they made on for the 2 customers before etc. Rules would become pointless. This would mean the whole world is going full anarchy leaving only chaos and destruction behind. That's why there can not be served any breakfast after 11:30 for anybody!

I was on an AC transit 79 and as we made the turn onto University a homeless man appeared to have placed an order and was waiting. AC transit buses are the cleanest they have ever been.
Here is an interesting tidbit for you. This film came out 1993, but we filmed it the 2nd day of Rodney King's rioting 1992.. Our burger place and across the street holding area (lunch, trucks, makeup truck, etc) both were surrounded by the National Guards. Thank you to them! we felt safe.
Aside from being both funny and sad, there is also something absurdly real about this movie that just eats away at you. The frustration of seeing all the wrongness around you but without any way of doing anything about it. Michael Douglas aces this role.
He made Phone Booth after Batman, that was pretty good. I'm in the minority but I love Batman Forever, it's my second favourite Batman film after the 1989 film. B&R really wasn't his fault, WB wanted something kid friendly and could sell toys, and that's what he gave them.
I know these comments are pretty old, but I just want to add - I hate how all of the comic movies have moved toward 'adult' themes. I started to watch "Logan" with my kid, thinking it was gonna be another X-Men movie, and I'm not sure how they even squeezed that into an R rating. Best part about this is how he changes his mind at the end, and there was no need to even pull out the gun.

I know these comments are pretty old, but I just want to add - I hate how all of the comic movies have moved toward 'adult' themes. I started to watch "Logan" with my kid, thinking it was gonna be another X-Men movie, and I'm not sure how they even squeezed that into an R rating. Let Batman and other movies stay for kids, without shitting all over them.

This movie wasn’t meant to be comedy but I found myself laughing at most of the scenes. Maybe because of Michael’s brilliant performance or it’s relevancy to today’s society almost 30 years later since it’s release.
