Was fortunate to hear her magnificent performance of Janacek's Jenufa in NYC in Carnegie Hall in the late 80's. She was at her peak and the standing ovation after Act 1 of more than 15minutes still stands to this day (2020) as the longest ovation in the entire history of that great hall!!!!!
There's a complete recording of Rusalka with the same conductor(Neumann) and soloist(Benackova) on the Supraphon Label recorded in 1981. I highly recommend it!

BRAVA! The best singer that performes this delicate aria/song so beautifully and so smoothly - as it should be. It is after all a water nymph that sings her devotion to her beloved and it must be done delicatly and softly. I have heard many singers and none of them succeds like this marvelous singer does. She really sings a soft song, not a melodramatic, overpowering aria. Very moving, thank you.

No, Ms Beňačková is far far better. Ms Fleming's Czech pronunciation is terrible!!! And it is only one reason why she cannot own this aria. Ms Beňačková is better also vocally....
Za mňa Beňačková. Pre jej citlivosť, jemnosť prednesu. Myslím, že táto ária nemá rada dramaticķý prejav, ktorý počujem u Šubrtovej. A aj preto, že pani Beňačková je slovenka.😘
