I like that she sings the "maledizione"-ending as written (with the high note on "-ne") rather than the more common and easier ending where an extra "maledizion" is added and the high note is on "-zion".
You can say that again...I was there..... she was GLORIOUS!!!!!!!!!! as Jenufa..... Rysanek.... FYI.... the standing ovation after the 2nd act was then the longest ever recorded at Carnegie Hall.... in 2024 it still stands......
It's funny how I thought when the orchestra started playing 'Oh, so this Chech Verdi.' And she sorta went the same way. There was a lot of Dvorak in this:-).
A Czech student at my university adored her. We'd drink beer on warm evenings and listen to Benackova.
Superb voice and control...
Stupenda!
Wow. What a voice! Wikipedia describes her as a lyric soprano but with her huge and mezzoish voice, she could be a spinto or even a dramatic soprano.

Técnica italiana antigua, lo mejor, lo más cercano a la Tebaldi, ojalá se vuelva a cantar de esta manera genuina y natura!!!!
SHE HAD A GREAR DEBUT AT CARNEIGE HALL WITH EVE QUELLER

Nice music only!
