IceCap is meant to be really cheery in the first place. If you look deep into this zone, the cave part has a lot of welcoming and colorful effect(Especially the colorful flashing lights in the crystals) emphasizing the beauty around of this place, which IceCap prototype theme capture so well. Not to mention there's a part where Sonic is having fun snowboarding down the slope in the beginning. People are so used to seeing IceCap being a depressed isolation place because of Hard Times IceCap theme. But keep in mind that IceCap prototype theme is made first, so IceCap location is meant to be cheery and positive.
Wow. I never thought such a happy, upbeat song could FILL ME WITH SUCH RAGE. Give us nothing but the cool, rocking track that actually made it into the game! This just doesn’t suit the zone at all, I’m sorry.
You're just not used to it. It's actually a really great theme with a great melody and atmosphere. IceCap is meant to be a cheerful winter stage. It's just that IceCap final theme made a different shift of tone that originally isn't there.
@@retrofan4963 That’s hogwash and you know it. I listened to the beta for Carnival Night as well, and thought that would’ve been a MUCH BETTER theme than the one that made it into the game. It’s not a matter of “getting used to”; it’s a matter of what FITS. Besides, look at the background and atmosphere. This is not a fun, winter wonderland; it’s keeping your cool while trying to maneuver the caves of a dangerous, freezing mountain. I feel the version that made it into the final game was far more thematic (and way past COOLER, pardon the pun) than this. This one would’ve been more suited for other Sega games. Maybe it would’ve made a good theme for Ristar? Planet Freon, after all.
@@Kemix0711 Are you telling me that Ristar has an inferior soundtrack than Sonic? First of, let's say if it doesn't fit, it doesn't mean it's bad music. IceCap prototype theme is actually great in my opinion. And second of, it does fit, just in a different way. IceCap prototype theme is more going toward the approach of atmosphere around IceCap rather than the situation. If you look deep into the background of the cave in IceCap, it actually has shining colorful crystals which gives the vibes of how colorful, vibrant, and welcoming IceCap is, even inside the cave and IceCap prototype theme reflects that, especially the end verse of the theme which sounds so beautifully crystalized. I feel its going more for the vibe of Quartz Quadrant Present(JP), in a sense it's going more of the positive atmosphere around a crystalized place. I'll argue that even in a situation sense, IceCap prototype theme does fit because Sonic is having fun sliding down through loops, snowboarding throughout the place. Sonic is known to be confidant and find the fun in a stake situation throughout his adventures and IceCap prototype theme reflects that through IceCap. IceCap prototype theme reflects the positivity atmosphere around IceCap, while IceCap final theme reflect the general negativity situation around IceCap. When you think about it, it really feels Sonic CD US vs JPN in this case since both themes are approaching different tones from one another, but they both fit the stage for different reasons.
@@retrofan4963 First of all, I’d never insult Ristar, game OR music. I guess I just thought that with a fun, wintry-themed level, Planet Freon fit better. Trust me, Ristar is TERRIFIC. Second of all, I’m just voicing my opinion, and I see now that indulging your attack on it was a waste of time. You have your deluded opinion that you think is right, I have an opinion that I believe is right. That’s how it is, and I won’t try to change your mind. @@Kemix0711 Just because I don't share the same opinion as you, doesn't mean my opinion is deluded. If anything that's redundant since that defeats the purpose of opinions. We both have different opinion of two IceCap's themes and both our opinions are not inferior or superior from one another. It's not a fact that IceCap final theme is better than IceCap prototype theme. why does this sound... calming?
I like this version more than the orignal
the orignal ice cap's composition is awful and it loops too quickly
This is a bit too cheery for Ice Cap imo
