Guys if you're seeing this do me a HUGE favour and like and comment on this video!! UA-cam has flagged it as 'inappropriate for advertising' and has basically killed the video! Let's keep it floating and keep spreading the message of Ren!
Contest. Ren said that he waves copyright on all the videos, and if you run into issues, just contest and he'll release it.
@@cas9065 I think it's a case of UA-cam trying demonetize anything that isn't suitable at my great grandma's dinner table so as to fill their own coffers. Remember that copyright claim protocol isn't the only loophole able to be abused for monetary gain.
@@andrewsears16 Ah, thanks for clarifying,
Silly stuff!
That sucks, this is one of the best videos on the channel.
Really hope you continue to breakdown ren tracks.
"if this man played this tune and started like marching, I'd follow him into the depths of hell"
Ren: What a coincidence, that's where we're going.
My thoughts exactly.
Love this comment! 🖤
😂
Not even a joke...
Violet's tale happened in 2005 (two zero zero five). Jenny and Screech happened in 2019 14 years later when the songs were released. Jenny inherited her mother's silence and Screech inherited his father's violence which is why she was still and silent when Screech killed her. Also an interesting part is when Screech knocks on the door and Patrick isn't home then he calls his girlfriend who said she was busy, they were actually together behind his back. This is brilliant storytelling. It's a story of how history repeats in the lives of people. Ren truly is brilliant. He describes his genre as "Bardcore" which is perfect as he's a modern day minstrel or bard. Great breakdown as usual...
And Jenny’s cheeky are “Rosy” plus the “blue” lights of cop car in screech’s = violet 🤯🤯🤯
And Jenny is ...walking the streets... in 👠. As she's walked a thousand times before, at 14...
Bardcore! I love it!
Thanks for clearing up the 2005. I hadn't caught that. I thought it was a postcode because he say's it right after London City. I even Googled it and obviously nothing came up!! Ofcoarse it's the year!! Thank you!!!
I’ve heard this song idk how many times & I’ve always assumed that 2005 was a street number in London.. my mind is even more blown
There was an indicator in Jenny’s tale when she felt that something was wrong that night. They say twins have a connection like that, so she felt Screech coming. 🤯
Took me a second to realize the clue at the end of Screech's Tale... "Our story it ends right at the start..." (paraphrasing) with Jenny and Screech laying next to each other just like when they were born.
ahhh nice
theres also the line where he says "theres somthing far more sinister in mind for those who wait" in screeches song right before he calls his gf. hinting at that he killed his twin sister
@@swere1240 how does that relate to twin sister?
@@iz723 I think they’re saying that the fact that they’re twins makes the entire story more sinister. When they mentioned the girlfriend, I think they were just trying to tell us where in the song the “sinister” line was.
Fun fact it was preplanned completely as Violet's tale came out a couple years later
Ren is a real life Bard in D&D that constantly rolls nat 20’s and it’s infuriating to watch how amazing he is every song 🫶🏻
Jenny and James are apparently typical twin names. Also consider her freezing statue like, and her silence their sets Screech off, just as Violet's silence was his father's trigger. There are tons of little connectors. Jenny's Tale and Screech's both finish with 'It's such a shame', and Screech's Tale is bookended with .The Story is starts right at the end and ends with 'The story it ends right at the start.
Thank you so much for covering Jenny and Screech. I was so waiting for your reaction!
Hit the nail on the head so many connection's also violet the colour of bruise's. I bet Patrick was round James girlfriends house that's why he wasn't in and she was busy.
Couldn't have explained it better myself
@@jonneateh5815 lol never picked up on that part
@@jonneateh5815 And she is a shrinking Violet, a wallflower, silent.
Dang I thought this was a possible copy cat comment but it seems your comment landed before mine so I guess mine is haha. Much love though just jokes
You are so right. Ren is the modern embodiment of the ancient minstrel tradition of the British Isles
Bard.
Genre:Bardcore
@@janandersson9411 you beat me to it.
@@claymore609 Yep Bard, Minstrels just plucked at harps and were effectively just the background noise, in any medieval court. Bards, were the song writers, and actors. Like whats his face in the witcher telly series.
Troubadour?
His self proclaimed genre is “bardcore”
When someone reacts to this masterpiece of art and I get chills at the end like I did the first time I ever saw it, then you know it was a top tier reaction and that describes you Knox. Of course we already know you are the GOAT, but this was truly awesome!
Amazing words and highest of compliments. Thank you 🙏
Any relation to Ren? Sister maybe 🤔
@@jamesestelle7260 😂Unfortunately, no relation. I'm South Alabama (US) born and bred. I didn't even know who Ren was until about 6 weeks ago. Feels like I've known him all my life though because I relate to his music on so many different levels and I have been on a Ren binge since I first heard Hi Ren.
Ren's ability to play those arpeggios while walking on stairs is something that is underrated. Most of us would kill ourselves trying to do it... or is that just a me thing?
Nah u got a fair point hes really incredible haha otherwise that gown he was wearing in violets tale would be for real
Everything about this is outstanding. The lyrics, the playing, the singing, the videography and most of all the acting. This deserves awards.
Jenny was like a statue like her mother Violet while Screech took the personality of the father.
You should definetly check out The Hunger - by ren. He has some crazy flows, flowchanges, and bars in that song. It really showcases another side of him - his really technical rapping skills.
TRUTH KNOX!
agree

Also "Losing It" - (The Fisher Retake)
The similarities between the twins are not that obvious. There are some parallels in their stories that make it apparent when you listen to it again. Like them lying close to each other at the end of Screech's and Violet's tale respectively, as well as the "such a shame" line. But I like how Jenny and Screech resemble their parents. Jenny freezing up in front of Screech and Screech getting more violent because of that. Also how Screech talks to the woman on the phone. And the knocking from Screech and from Stevie respectively. The devil theme throughout the trilogy. There is so much to discover, even after dozens of listens. Everything is interwoven so well. I could fanboy the whole evening about Ren's songs.
It's taken many re-watches and listens to realise that Ren told us early on in Violet's tale that she was pregnant. "Violet was a quiet girl, and Violet, she fell fast". Fell fast, means she quickly fell pregnant (I'm not sure if this is just a British phrasing which is why I explained it).
I also now think the tales begin and end at Christmastide. The guitar intro for Jenny's tale is reminiscent of "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" which is played around with up to and including his trumpeting.
Graffiti Christmas tree as he first sings "Jenny walked alone she was dragging her feet".
And at the end of Violet's Tale as "a lady down in Paddington just lost the fight to stay alive" we stop at a shop which has "Seasonal Greetings" in the window.
Because of the gap in recording these epic tales and Ren's attention to detail, I think it was planned, not coincidence.
@@GrahamDixonUK Nearly all right but I think "She fell fast" meant that she fell in love fast. It didn't take much as initially according to the song, Stevie was a charmer and Violet had probably never been charmed.
Thanks fo your absolutely genius breakdowns of Ren's talents..You embellish and enhance the experience to great lengths. Cheers Mr. Knoxhill!
This is a play off of dance with the devil by immortal technique. You can even catch a line in violets tale “when the devil comes to dance”.
i was at a party one time and someone put this on, the music video. shit got quiet REAL quick
Wow, thanks for reminding me. Heard this like 20 years ago.
Finally a reactor who actually got the story and linked them all together. This is brilliance from REN. There’s nothing else out here like this
Who didn't link them together? I haven't seen a reactor who didn't get it yet, but I haven't seen many of this trilogy's reactions yet, I'm doing that now.
Thanks for completing the trilogy. It’s weird as I am an almost 65 year old man who grew up on rock/metal music so my taste leans more towards Ren/The Big Push doing covers of Sabbath’s War Pigs and Paranoid. Most of the elements in Hi Ren and this trilogy tale are things I’m not into (classical guitar, rap, talking, sounds) and yet, he weaves it all together to make it so compelling, captivating and mesmerizing. So much so, that it stays in your head. I would so much rather see him do one of his songs live on the Grammys than most of the performances that night
👍🏻I’m pushing 70 & enjoy all musical genres worldwide. Ren’s gifts are many. Few young reactors have the education or exposure to the arts to appreciate/grasp Ren’s genius. Ren IS well educated & knows precisely what he’s doing! Glad to be alive during this profusion of musical innovation & talent. (Dimash, AJ, D. Ankudenova, J. Antoine, etc. The instrumentalists as well!). 12/‘23
Thanks for your hard work, Knox!!!
Always. Thanks for being here!
Hey, Henrique! I'm here to say the same, buddy haha
'Knocks You' is the best! haha
Now you know why everyone was freaking out like, "Nooooooo!!!! What about the other parts!!!!" This was incredible content. Thank you!
I'm so happy that Ren started getting the recognition he deserves. And I've been loving him since 2019... I also really enjoyed listening to you applaud this genius)))
It was a journey learning English through his music. 🇺🇦
Also the line is the year when this happend "London City, far from pretty
Two, zero, zero, five"
REN is the morern day bard.
This guy is a freaking genius! So unexpected at every turn... He uses every part of his body, voice, breath, guitar and words. No words.
I've put a lot of hours into the Ren rabbit hole since I discovered him and it's been such a pleasure. Ren is an AMAZING artist and performer!
Knox...Your reaction to the ending... was EXACTLY my reaction!!
It hit me from out of left field!!
Lol. I NEVER saw it coming!
As usual...beautiful breakdown to a beautiful song!
Peace and love always until there is no more!😊❤
Yeah. Ren does a great job of dropping hints without giving it away. When you listen for a second time, you notice so much foreshadowing and many little hints. It is incredibly well-crafted.
@@bitzibaerlieMore than quite good for sure. Ren is mesmerizing. I've listened and watched it 50 times and I still expect to see Violet lying on the floor!😢
I'm so happy to see that the Ren reactions keep coming from so many channels. More people need to hear his music.
camerman and Ren....amazingly done...excellent review again knox....i appreciate that you go in more in depth than other reactors catching the bars.
Damn. I really really really like you, Knox.
I'm enjoying these reactions way too much. Brings me back to your Epic Rap Battles Of History times.
Ren really suits you, brings out your good perceptive side.
Another thing he does, is he gives the twins the personality and characteristics of their parents. Screech being like stevie, and jenny being like violet, he is a genius. His story telling is top notch and he delivers so well, all while doing it in rhyme schemes and acting out the characters and playing guitar with it, genius. He never deserved the life he got, his insecurities, illness, mental health, he didn't deserve that but it made him who he is, and he puts so much work into his songs and yet I'd so underrated and not as popular as he should be. ❤❤
I just love how it’s so obvious that you both have a lot of respect for each other. I love watching your reactions because you’re clearly genuinely moved and impressed by Ren’s work and he’s clearly genuinely impressed with your ability to pick up on things most miss. It’s almost like a bromance and I just love it… two very talented artists showing their admiration and respect for each other. Imagine if the two of you joined forces and worked on something together!!!! ❤️
His eccentricities are everything to me!! OBSESSED!!!! Great reaction!
Thank you for introducing me to Ren. Such a unique artist and someone who I want to hear a lot more from.
Your reactions are one of a kind. Love how you breakdown his lyrics with the knowledge you have about writing. It just shows how talented you also are. Would love to see your reaction to Money Game part 2 that song is a banger, would love to see your breakdown of his flow and lyrics. The message and wordplay are very clever and his flow scheme is fire. Depression is also a good one to check, has a mix of singing and rapping and you can feel his pain through the song
At the beginning it talks about jenny being adopted, then talks about screech being in the system and aging out. Baby girls adopt easier than boys, boys left in fostercare is a common trope. With Violet shes out alone at 16 does not have anyone but the abusive partner/father of the twins. He goes to jail for murder, and the twins go into protective services... Then quiet jenny (like mom) and aggressive screech (like dad) meet by chance and die together in the same cycle of violence....
❤❤❤I Love to hate this song every time i hear it. Experience working with teens in care as well as homeless so this hits
The connections between Jenny, Screech and Violet/abusive partner is that just like Violet Jenny is passive and silent and stood still in the face of abusive violence. Then in the same way Screech has the violent nature of the abusive partner that attacked Violet.
You talk about his live stuff and how it's different but he also makes beats and raps in the studio. Check out Money Game parts 1 & 2 and Genesis for songs with a message, The Hunger for technical flow, and What You Want for a tribute to 80s and 90s party hip hop.
Videos for Money Game pt1, Genesis and The Hunger are still one take single shot though :-)
GREAT breakdown! Ren really is something special
He is ridiculously amazing. Always love your reactions and breakdowns.
I'm hearing the term "Bardcore" used to describe his style.
Also something I noticed is that Jenny takes her mother's traits of being meek and silent, while screech's character takes after his father with his violence and anger.
he is this generations Bard and we are so very lucky to have him and people like yourself, Cliff Beats, Black Pegasus, Anthony Ray and so many more wonderful reactors to bring Ren and each other into the light so others can find and enjoy also
Your breakdown and analysis is the absolute best - you barely miss anything! The excitement on your face when you hear the end twist is pure joy 😁 Great reaction 🙏
There are lots of great reactors out there, but you are way ahead of them on your insight, the subtly of things and your explaining the flows and kadences its always great Watching you react. I knew the twins would throw you off, but you were right there when he said it, you knew it. Everyone else missed it and had to go back.
Many thanks Knox great reaction love and respect from the UK 👍👍👍👍👍👍🌟😀😀 amazing channel 👍
Honestly, of all Ren's content, this may be his best example of storytelling/Bard core. It's one shot all the way through, and he uses the environment for his sound effects. And he ACTS. And SAM is on the camera. Everything is intentional. Everything has a purpose. Give me anyone else who does this at this level, And then the story switches at the end. Come on. best of a generation.
No one because it is hard, very hard to do. Plays that acoustic like a master, while singing, rapping, speaking, remembering his lines, remembering his landmarks, his lines and the acting and conviction is high quality. This on top of each section is live and one take. This has been out 5 yrs, and the 3 series total 2 yrs. I haven't seen anyone try it at least to this length.
What else should we react to? 🤔 Comment below! Also if you want to support the channel join the Patreon for exclusive reactions & content 🖤 www.patreon.com/knoxhill
He has some really cool rap tracks in different styles, and more of his so-called Retakes, where he raps over the backing track, created from an existing song. He produces his own stuff and most of it is freakingly awesome. Such a huge back catalog that piece by piece ask the question why he wasn't huge earlier.
His song Genesis Live Acoustic is a really great song.
@@DeanWinchester-ow2ug I love the original Genesis one that starts in the fish and chip shop. And it is actually a full rap song.
What a great artist Ren is he keeps you thinking what happens next it's like turning the page of book has the story unfolds he puts you right in the middle of the drama and that's not easy to do and the twist at the end would be worthy of any film let alone a music video you didn't see it coming
Could you react to Uprising by Muse it's a great song and lyrics to relevant to the world today
Money game 1 and 2 are WELL worth a reaction
🎊🎉🎊🎉🎊Yeah.🎊🎉🎊🎉🎊My absolute favourite reactor.🎉🎊🎉🎉🎊Much love from South Africa 🇿🇦❤️🇿🇦

@@Jar_Jar_Twinks HOW THE FUCK??

Ren is the GOAT! Knox, I found your site following reactions to Ren. I am thoroughly impressed by your work and your comments and insight into the content of others. Well done mate.
Masterful reaction my friend. You're refining the craft to higher levels :)
Everything Ren does is to support his primary focus of importance... Music, barding, narrating, singing, camera work... everything
Yes those are seagulls. Ren lives in Brighton UK, which is a tourist town which is why so many buskers have success there. Most of his videos are filmed around the town, a block or two from the beachfront. His band did a great one-take live cover of a Manu Chao song on the rooftop of their apartment and another song in a public laundromat. The "hospital" location at the beginning of Violet's tale was actually a friend's kitchen that they dressed. All locations you can find on Google maps if you look around a bit. I don't think he gets permission for any of it, he's so used to busking, he just does it and hopes no one interrupts them before they get it done. The Ren rabbit hole runs deep and most people think it only goes back 5 or 6 years but you can find stuff as far back as when he was trying to make his boy band successful as a teenager.
I come back to your reaction every now and then. your attention to details is amazing
I would love to see you react to REN THE HUNGER. You’re awesome. 👏🏻👏🏻
Ren is a true artist...rare this days. Love to see you dissect his videos, music, lyrics, etc. Keep it up!
I was so excited when I saw today that you had reacted to Ren I dropped everything and watched those two videos. Now you've blessed me with another reaction?! Thanks Knox!
Hi Knox iiiiiiii was waiting for this. You never ever tell what the end gona be. 11 days apart.😁Love from Europe-Austria
Hey Knox, fan of your music but bigger Fan of your reaction videos, you are very intelligent & break shit down with expertise. I can also tell your reactions are real & you enjoy everything ❤️
Your breakdowns of bars are great!
Ren is an AMAZING artist!!! He is a literary genius. He has a pure gift of captivating his audience and leaving us in extreme awe. Thank you, Ren, for keeping our eyes open, hearts full, and minds wondering what masterpiece you will grace us with next❤❣️❣️❣️❣️
Hell yeah. I've been waiting for this
Something else that was beautiful is how he paralleled the birth and deaths of Jenny and Screech. At the end of Screech’s tale, he mentions how it’s two bodies laying just one street apart, and he parallels that to “two twins laying side by side.”
The other part I love is the deliberate misdirection with when she finally speaks out. As a listener, I heard, “please let my baby stay alive,” but what she actually said was, “please let my babies stay alive.” It’s genius the way he structured that. Thank you for all of the breakdowns, man. I love your videos.
i was excited to see your reaction to the twist at the end and i wasn't disappointed 😁
My man you are nothing short of an artist!! Found you through knox's video of hi ren and was instantly hooked!! Keep up the great work man. Your way of doing musik is something really special and should be appreciated by even more people!!
Fantastic reaction! You never miss a trick, and your genuine enthusiasm for the material is a thing of beauty to watch. Thank You!
P.S. Macaulay Culkin wasn’t in The Sixth Sense. That was Haley Joel Osmont. A bit douchey of me to point this out, but I just can’t help myself. I am pain in the ass know-it-all. I’m working on it.
Come on Knox! Been waiting for this 🔥
Yeah I keep checking the channel. Can't wait to see what he makes of it.
Every reaction video I’ve watched, they’ve all paused and was wowed by “the devil comes to dance” powerful line!

Jenny took on violets freezing in the face of danger.
Screech took on his father's violence.
Two souls born together in tragedy and violence.
Two souls died together in tragedy and violence.
Astrologers would have a feild day with this one.
The lad is a fecking genius.
The acoustics in Jenny's tale is just awesome.
Ha! You're the first reactor I've heard note the shades of Greek tragedy in this! That made my heart happy because it's what I thought too. All that generational family curse stuff is so gorgeously brought to life in this. And so compellingly you can't look away no matter how dark it gets. Really enjoyed your musical analysis too.
1st. That guitar playing is fire!!!
❤️🔥✨🫶🏼
Love how much you see and hear, how you explain everything you are observing, sometimes opening new vistas for people, and certainly displaying the depth of your own mind and knowledge about songwriting and cinematography. All excellent work!
Ren is a master storyteller. He is soooo good.
Your reaction to the end of this - the realisation, made me smile so much ❤
Jenny inherited her quiet demeanor of her mother (and died for it just like her) and screech inherited his fathers (and grandfathers) agression and anger and caused a tragedy due to it
And The Grand/mother was quite and did not saying when Violet was abused.
I was today years old when I found Ren thanks to you Knox, man what A discovery! Ren is a mastermind!!
Jenny has her mother's traight of staying still and silent and Screech has his fathers straight of violence under the influence of drink and drugs. Unbelievable story telling.
Oh my god sitting here actually breaking the bars down with you at the end of violets tale just gave me the craziest chills. Ren is by far the most poetic and real writer in this new generation.
check out the hunger, and genesis, bar heavy tracks
In the UK it would be dark by 3.30 or 4pm in the winter.
It's amazing how this dude uses acoustics of buildings.
Once again I am so impressed with your TOTAL breakdown of not only the lyrics, but the production and camera work and acting and other subtleties.
You're the reaction goat!
I know it has been said a few times before but Ren is a spitting image of Cillian Murphy especially in the role of Thomas Shelby. That aside he is an amazing storyteller. Your skills to breakdown songs is unmatched.
I love how both in Screech's and Violet's Tale at the end Twins are both laying near eachother, at first because they're born and later because they're dead
I really love how you can actually can react/breakdown genres beside rap even though you yourself are a rapper. This video just proves it. You have an outstanding talent when it comes to music.
A suggestion, u should react to still right here by tech n9ne. Thats one hell of a song
Spanish guitar players on the River Walk in San Antonio. I have been to San Antonio once in my life for a business meeting. We in fact went to an open air restaurant along the river and experienced a troupe of guitar players. Wow, brought me back to a very old memory that I had forgotten.
Rens the hunger
This was, as usual, a very enjoyable reaction and an excellent analysis. This trilogy is another example of Ren's genius and a master's class in storytelling. It has been likened to a Shakespearean tragedy. I would also recommend you check out Ren's collaborations with Chinchilla, "Chalk Outlines," "How to Be Me," and their busking sessions in Brighton. As for "Chalk Outlines," it is one of my favorite songs right now; it is beautiful, yet sad, and really showcases Ren's beautiful singing voice.
Looking forward to more Ren reactions from you. God bless.

Thank you so much for your always unique and insightful breakdowns. Ren is incredible.
Ren's song Dear God is very good and Losing it was a good rap.
There’s a moment in Jenny’s tale where the narration says something akin to : I walk these streets all the time but for some reason this time feels different. “The hands of fate” I think was used. Something felt wrong. Could be the twin sense letting her know that there was something bigger afoot. It’s a beautifully written story. A Grecian tragedy like you said

@@KnoxHill My pleasure, thanks for the breakdowns - I've watched the trilogy multiple times and still learned countless things (the camera work is something I didn't pick up on for example) by watching your breakdowns. Keep up the great work 😊
Edit: Is it possible that Jenny is the one on life-support at the beginning of Violet's Tale? Because that bit of information is before we go back in time to Violet. Just a thought.
@@KnoxHill loved the video Knox I'll always be back for more your break downs are always the best nothing but love 💯
Violet is on life support, the guitar played on the neck indicates the frantic activity there. The ethereal vocal after it and the camera work facing upwards and towards the light indicates she did not survive. Rewind is to show how she got there. After the beating he forwards time on the guitar so he can tell the rest of the tale in retropect.
When he hits the “hoooo hoooooo” in violets tale it gives me chills every time
