  • 30,000 Toys "R" Us workers across the country are losing their jobs. This is what happens when you have a system that allows private equity firms to destroy profitable businesses and throw workers out on the streets with no severance.

What's criminal to me is that the company lied saying the employees would be fine before they filed for chapter 11, so that the employees couldn't file a class action law suit for their well deserved severances!!! Those two companies are very EVIL!!!

Vulture Capitalism company. They are typically the financial leveraging company that purchases a failing or indebted business to divvy it up to pay off the debt and make money - while destroying the business and closing it.

D N They're out of business because a WHOLE GENERATION refuses to find a girlfriend / boyfriend much less are they choosing to HAVE KID'S. Who do you think shops at a place like this? Now, no one due to your gen not having families much less children! Add in the Amazon issues & people not willing to shop locally? Surprise that will cause them to go bankrupt, nothing is free & Yes, you need customers. imagine that... People a real having issue's using critical thinking. Bernie is also being deceptive in this sad video. Using people's emotions (TO MANIPULATE YOU), His Not explaining the problem correctly. So frustrating.

People don't have kids because they can't afford them. Our country continues to outsource jobs and keep everyone under a mountain of debt. Rents are high and people still struggle to pay their medical bills. Sorry you fucked up your life and are now stuck in a black hole of fucking misery with kids you can't afford to take care of and I'm sure you have weight issues as well because you can't afford to eat healthy. If you were happy with your fucked up life you wouldn't be talking this shit and attacking someone for no reason. But you came on the wrong thread and you encountered my ass. HUGE MISTAKE. You don't understand basic economics. Educate yourself and grow the fuck up you hideous bitch.

neoliberal: relating to a modified form of liberalism tending to favor free-market capitalism.
neo-conservative: relating to or denoting a return to a modified form of a traditional viewpoint, in particular a political ideology characterized by an emphasis on free-market capitalism and an interventionist foreign policy.
Those are the very short definitions. When you look at more extensive descriptions of both, and then at both parties and how 'our' representatives tend to vote, deregulate, and budget, you see that they are neocons and neolibs simultaneously.
Think of the recent, huge increase in military spending for our already over-bloated military expenditures as one glaring example.

Who exactly do you think would be playing with these toys? Lmao. This is not a hard equation to figure out.. No families = No Kid's! Therefore places like this will not be profitable!
Bernie is being deceptive pitting the hard working people against " *The Private Equity Firm's* " Who by the way, Are NOT making money! This is insane people can't figure this out, add in most will shop at Amazon before your local communities businesses (in most case's) it's pretty easy to figure this one out.

Toys R Us is a labour and real estate intensive retailer. They mostly sell environmentally destructive plastic from Asia. Imagine if these workers got jobs in a green technology factory or infrastructure redevelopment locally that produced something useful rather than needlessly hawking petroleum crap made in a foreign country.

I feel for these workers, I really do. Retail is hell, and corporate offices always do their best to maintain that status quo. We're going to have waves of people losing their jobs in manufacturing soon, too, thanks to these tariffs (hopefully I won't be one of 'em). I'll be amazed if it doesn't turn out that this is the start of another big recession.

If a whole Generation chooses to NOT have kid's- Who exactly do you think will shop here? Right! Add in Amazon, it should be NO surprise to you long established & local shops are closing down. People can't accept accountability, that is our problem here not some "Private Firm" .
This whole generation should have some kid's too while we're talking about the real reason Toys R US is bankrupt. No Kid's = No one Shopping!

This is a result of sending good paying, blue-collar jobs overseas to get a 'cheaper' product here. The problem there is nobody goes to these specialty stores due to not being able to afford it. When factory workers were making 45-65K a year, things were better than when those exact workers started working at a grocery store, fast-food restaurant and cell phone store to make ends meet. People feel insecure in their jobs, they don't spend, therefore the economy goes unstimulated.

Yeah, I was a department supervisor for 4 yrs at mine from 2010-14 and there was only a tiny handful of people that had worked for the company for more than 10 yrs. Two of them had even been working for TRU for over 20 yrs! However, that was indeed a rarity amongst the employees in my city. I loved working there, but got increasingly tired of how corporate was running things. Even then I saw the writing on the wall that we were in trouble, but i honestly never saw the complete and ultimate end coming this quickly.

My total empathy for these people. Up until about a month ago I worked for Sears, which is having a nearly identical thing happening (and whose CEO is buddies with one of Trump's minions). Liquidation, watching the place die, and all that...I very much understand how it is and I feel very sorry for those at Toys R Us having to go through it too. (Sisters in liquidation I guess...) My store was closed in April along with over 100 others (including some Kmarts), and now more are due to close in July or so. Sears will inevitably be one of the next ones out after TRU... killing such a longtime company for their own gain. After TRU and Sears are gone (among others) who will they buy next to bleed dry? Previously it was JCPenney I lost a job at because they were trying not to die, and still aren't doing well themselves.
Retail work has become very worrying, like you wouldn't know where to go because you don't want to keep losing job after job because these financial game players are just sucking the life out of them for their own benefit.
I've moved on to a less traditional retail-type job as a merchandiser and hoping that is safer, but like many retail area jobs it has the down side of being only part time.
I need to find something else to help pad the income, but I just don't know where to go... I don't feel like retail can even be trusted anymore and I'm tired of losing jobs due to dying companies, but so much in my area IS retail and other options are far fewer and have requirements I just can't meet. Retail isn't just for kids who want spending money, its for adults who depend on the income, and yet the situation of it is getting worse and most of these people in DC right now could not care less because they'd rather pat these hedge fund idiots on the back for being so "smart" and business savvy at bleeding these companies dry and could not give less of a crap about who it hurts. Retail is a lot bigger industry than coal, but it goes ignored.

I imagine you already know that I am much more socialistic in my economic theory than capitalistic. And yet I am not so opposed to capitalism that I have failed to see its relative merits. It started out with a noble and high motive, to block the trade monopolies of nobles, but like most human systems it falls victim to the very thing it was revolting against. So today capitalism has outlived its usefulness. It has brought about a system that takes necessities from the masses to give luxuries to the classes.

They are capable enough to hold down a job. If they have grounds, then sue, the executives and the financiers.
