    Great job for a "shade tree" mechanic! Took some guts to tackle that job and put the puzzle pieces all back together in ther correct places. I've heard that all the HPDIs eventually suffer from clogged high pressure filters no matter how religios their owners are with their fuel supply and stabalization procedures. Think this lead Yamaha to phase them out and go to all 4 stroke EFIs which have injectors that are easy to access and change. If you keep this VMAX for another few years or upgrade to a 4 stroke, you should look into buying yourself a small fuel injector cleaner. You can get one on Alibaba (China's equivalent to Amazon) for less than $400. It will clean and pressure test all your injectors youself and not have to send them out at $25 each plus shipping.

    They should have one large screen on the inlet of the long manifold bc once that tiny screen gets plugged on one injector it runs that cylinder lean and burns that cylinder. There are no moving parts to generate debris in the manifold so you would no longer need the ones in the injectors.
    Thanks, good video.

      @@antonioprado8068 I just wanted to do this because of the age of my boat at the time. I did not have any issues with my boat before doing this. And not I have not had any problems after doing this. I replaced my plugs every two years but sometimes every year depending on have it’s running. I have not replaced the mystery filters since doing this video.

      And for any future people scrolling through comments, I have ZERO outboard and very little other mechanical experience. It took me 3 hours to change all 10 mystery filters (including the filters inside the high pressure pumps) and none of it was out of my comfort zone. You can totally do this yourself!

      I started taking apart my 2001 Yamaha 200 HP HPDI motor yesterday to clean up my fuel lines and injectors; I got some water in my fuel a while back. My motor is a bit different than your 2009 model, but I used a 5 mm hex bit to remove the bolts for the fuel lines that lead to the fuel rails - probably the same size Allen wrench you used. I took a few pictures with my phone to help with reassembly once the injectors are cleaned - I'd be happy to send these to anyone who asks, along with an explanation. The coil pack on my model is substantially different - I think Yamaha simplified the coil pack for newer models.

    • @michaelyoucanfixthat
      @michaelyoucanfixthat  7 років тому

      Do you get everything back together? And is it running better?

    • @johnschulte5586
      @johnschulte5586 7 років тому

      I got the coil pack and fuel rail removed, but have not removed the injectors yet. I'm not sure how to get these out - they are in there pretty tight. I'm hoping to remove the injectors next weekend. I'll follow up after that. Finders crossed...I need to be FISHING!

Just thought I should do this with the amount of hours on my motor. I tried to change every filter on my the motor. Just as a maintenance thing. Thanks again for watching.

    Sooo I know this is from quite awhile ago but just so you know, the spark plug gap on the side of your motor for the dual electrode plugs is wrong! Gap should be 1.3-1.5 mm on both sides. Just a heads up

    You use White Out or a digital camera to make sure you get things back in the correct place Before digital cameras I completely rebuilt a 3 cy 2 stroke Suzuki I wore out The bearings on the top cylinder failed and the connecting rod started hitting the bottom of the sleve and breaking out chunks out I had to remove every nut bolt and screw I was glad I took a bunch of pictures That motor still runs like a scalded dog

    Where can you get the filters from? All amazon sellers only list up to the 200HP engine. Not for injector part #60V-13761-00-00. Will the same filters work for the 250? www.amazon.com/Yamaha-Outboard-Injector-Basket-Filter/dp/B07958DTSX

      WassawBound I want to say yes they look the same as the ones I used. But a buddy of mine did the filters I did not do. They look different than these. So if you plan to do the one I did not do they will be different. But yes I’m 80% that these filters will work.
