Old minecraft has the nostalgia factor for me. Although sprinting and other features weren't added, it makes the game a lot more slow paced and horrifying at times because you cannot get away as easily.
I thought he added a funny sound effect every time he took damage, it took me a while to realize that he did not add it. It was the classic Minecraft damage sound.

As a beta player and creator it’s great to see more people becoming aware of beta and old versions of Minecraft. The community is growing and that’s a great thing.
i am one of those delusional people who think beta is better, (keep in mind that i was barely even alive when beta came out, i was born in 2009) and wasn't introduced to minecraft until release 1.7.10 so i have no nostalgia for these versions) i have 7 irl days of playtime in a b1.7.6 and consider it my forever world. It just feels a lot more focused, as well as the block palette being smaller and not overwhelming i just feel a lot better playing on it. :) that being said, i believe that no matter what version you play, the version you play is kind of part of the sandbox.
