My mom gave me a formula for waistband elastic: measure your waist, cut the elastic one inch less. Overlap the two end also by an inch. Before sewing up the last bit of casing, check the fit. You can increase or decrease the overlap as needed (rarely needed). It gives you a spot and wiggle room to make adjustments if you gain or lose wait. It has always worked for me! Congrats on finishing your WIP! I may be a world record-holder in that department.
Congrats on completion of your Pressed Flowers Shawl. I just finished mine too. I would have never thought to pair it with the black & white gingham. The whole outfit looks fabulous!
Love your new outfits and your pressed flowers shawl. I have had the pattern and yarn since the day she released the pattern and keep waiting to knit it. I still love it the same way I did the first day and you gave me the motivation again to star mine. I need to star mine pronto ❤🧶🥰
My wardrobe is casual but I would really like to dress better. I’m 58 now and retired. I don’t really go anywhere but when you do I’d like to dress nice. Not all fancy but a nice casual. Love watching your videos for ideas and your knitting is awesome. I do learn new techniques.
what a feeling to finish your shawl after 2.5 years. i am a bit the same (as I'm sure are many other crafters). the last 5% of a project can take 10 times as long as the first 95%. why are we like this lol.
Tis the season for busting out forgotten projects. Mr Almost 6 asked me if I could finish his crochet blanket that's been languishing for 18 months. Those puppy dog eyes have me busting my hump to finish this for him ❤
I love that you’re incorporating an outfit with your knitting project. Thank you so much for inspiring me to get back my sewing machine, and I hope to see more sewing intertwined with your knitting.
You simply are amazing thank you for these cozy videos I just feel so happy when I see you up loaded one, your test , work and skills make me just want the video just last for hours ❤❤❤
I really appreciate your videos combining knitting and sewing to create specific outfits. I have never been any good at that sort of thing so watching you create really helps. Thanks again for a fun video and I hope you do many more like this one!
You did a fantastic job on your outfits. I don't knit, I crochet.....but I would love to. I do enjoy sewing and have since I was about 10. I really like how you pulled everything together and made your own outfit. Congratulations on completing your WIP! 🎉
Love your outfits. First thing I thought was that pretty jumpsuit. I knew that shawl would be fabulous. It truly looked terrific with all the outfits. Have a great week❤❤
You inspired me to make the pressed flowers shawl. I also love mosaic knitting. I wouldn’t make the pants any shy. I wear a lot of store bought linen pants. They come all different lengths. I am also tall 5’7” love your podcasts ❤
I understand why it took so long from wip to FO on the shawl. I started the cardigan and ended up with a vest. Love it! But got tired of the pattern before doing sleeves. Love your shawl! And I love my vest. Your podcast is so good!
Kaci, you’re intro has me giggling! 🤭 And maybe convinced to pick up my 2 year-old shawl…Festival of Stitches! At the time it was my first cables and I stalled out…but I think I could do it this winter! ❤
You should try the Jessica Ellicott Edwina & Beryl cozy mystery series. Takes place after WW I in a small English village. Two former school friends decide to live together & start a detective agency. It has a very cozy vibe but touches upon some of the issues from the war such as the “surplus women” issue back then: so many men died during the war a lot of women remained unmarried including one of the main characters. But she’s also not really equipped, given her backstory, to work. How is she to survive? You might enjoy them.
Roxanne Richardson has a video on how to join new yarn in a sewn bind off. You basically tie a slip knot in the new strand, slip the old strand through the slip knot and then snuggle the slip knot up against your knitting. You then carry on with your bind off. When you finish, you go back and slip the slip knot off that tail. Roxanne shows you how to weave in the ends so they are not visible on the edge. Tried it recently and it worked a treat x
Not me seeing how two of my favorite corners of the UA-cam intersect via sponsor. I'm clearly curating my algorithm correctly if Bernadette Banner is appearing on Youngfolk knits 💛
I was not prepared for the lady from Titanic! 😆 Love the colors of your Pressed Flowers Shawl and the way you styled it.🧶And yes, butt cheeks deserve pockets. 🤣
You might like the ‘No. 2 Feline Detective Agency’ series by Mandy Morton - similar concept - animals solving murders…but kind of as if they’re a human community! I’m sure you know what I mean😂 Love all of the series (audiobooks) - highly recommend!
Loved the episode! BTW, I just finished watching The Mallorca Files too. This was the 2nd season. The first season was quite a while ago as they both looked olde this time. If this was on PBS Masterpiece, I am going to suggest you watch St. Maik - it's German with subtitles, but the story is so cute!!! I think there are 3 seasons. I don't mind watching subtitles. We got used to it years ago when we were watching Detective Montelbano on our loca PBS International channel. They don't have that anymore. It is now MHZ which is also a subscription service. With me already having Britbox, Acorn, and PBS Masterpiece, I am blessed with a number of the kind of programming I love to watch. Love a good cozy mystery. Also on PBS Masterpiece and also in German, is Homicide Hills and it is hilarious! Just a couple of recommendations - along with Hotel Portofino. It's a good channel and well worth the price I pay. That shawl is amazing and I love all the outfits you paired with it.
Beautiful episode as always Kaci. You are such a creative artist in all you do. Who operates your drone to get that gorgeous footage? Be well and happy making.❤
Last year for Christmas I asked for a really pretty handmade seam ripper, the theory being if I have to rip something out (and I frequently do), I ought to at least do it in the most beautiful way possible. 😂
hello, so fun video:D ha ha ha, i love it! Actually if you like this pants and you want side pockets, you can modified pattern, just made le with side seam, eventually you will have the same design, but with side pockets possibility:) i would do that, because i looooove pockets:)
I plan to join the mosaic KAL but I've never done Mosaic so I've done research so I'm going to do a brief practice using a chart for the first time Like being challenged
Loved your podcast and your shawl! Pants too. Could you please tell me the name and singer you played while on your hike and while showing your outfit?
Superwash sure does superwash things. I made myself a t-shirt in 100% superwash merino and someone asked me if it was for a toddler while I was making it. 🙃
Hi Kaci, I just found your channel, and find it delightful. Your makes are beautiful. I'm wondering if you shop locally for fabric or buy it online. If you buy online, could you please tell us where? I don't have a lot of fabric stores in my area and would like a good online resource. Thanks!
I love to purchase fabric from blackbird fabrics out of Canada and ewe fibers in the us. I also am an affiliate for the linen lab and have a link in the description with a coupon code if they ever have any fabrics that catch your eye. I buy a lot of linen from them
Hi Kaci - I purchased your pattern for the Party Line Scarf. I think it will be so useful. I jumped in and knit one with DK yarn and US 5 needles. My problem is I have read and reread the pattern but my scarf finished at 17 inches? I cannot figure out what I have done wrong. I see the finished size should be 40.5 " so I am way off. Any suggestions? I am sure I am missing something🙃
@@YoungfolkKnits Actually a friend helped me read through the pattern and you are correct.....I did not repeat the middle multiple times. Again🙃! Thanks for the quick reply.

Do they have any spinning classes? I couldn’t find anything on their website?

I will try this next time! Great tip!
This is the same thing my mom taught me too!
This is probably the nicest pressed flower shawl I have seen so far! 😍

Awww yes definitely worth finishing that one up!

I’m so excited you liked Shady Hollow! It’s one of my favorite book series 🧡 (She said as she’s watching your video wearing fox printed overalls…)
Haha I do love it!
I just finished a crochet blanket that's about the same age as your shawl! Man does that feel good.
It feels so good! Bravo to you as well!

So good - only you will notice the last bit of the bindoff - I should do this too - I need more time !!

Love the pressed flower shawl so much but the border just puts me off.. All the cut flower motives drive me insane 😂

Mr. YoungFolk Knits does that for me haha!
Love that shawl! I need to find an easy beginner pattern for linen pull on pants elastic waist. I'm tall too and hard to find long enough pants
Highly recommend the Pomona pants!

I’m not really sure. It was a dog that lives with the caretaker at the nature preserve and she took us all the way up and then back down haha
