@@dertery8724basically in the hoi4 mod red flood Churchill goes insane after being stranded in India after WW1 is a draw and the Raj implodes. He has 3 paths: one where some IRL nazi Hindu takes over, one where he regains his sanity, and one where he goes even more insane and basically becomes a fascist maniac against the Indians, gassing villages. If the insane churchill unifies india, a "superevent" (hoi4 term for an event only found in mods that plays music, and has a bigger picture) plays with this music, and at the first rule Britannia, you hear a hissing sound (presumably gas)... and then when the first "Britons, never ever shall be..." plays, you hear screams and the sounds of WW1 era guns firing.

Recorded at a time when the British Empire was nearly at its peak. The succeeding 20th century would see it reach its greatest height yet, then a slow decline which ultimately lead to its practical dissolution by mid-century.
Honestly this probably was its peak. While it may have had greater territorial claims after WW1, it was also fraught with political and financial issues that made dissolution seem more and more an unavoidable fate.
You know you're a tad insane when the even the _remnants of the British Colonial government in India_ think you went a bit too far with the whole gassing the natives thing.
I have an English Berliner of 5th September 1898, 'Tommy Atkins', sung by a Tom Bryce. The voice sounds similar, and I wonder if it could be the same man. Is the initial definitely 'J.' on this record?
The Insular script T (ꞇ) does look like a reverse J, but we never get a good look at the record, and I highly doubt the engraving would use some sort of weird cursive insular script
While it still contained real wax, I used a furniture spray polish on my Pathe discs, being sure to clean & buff away the water content. It made an audible reduction in surface noise, sometimes very significantly so
i dont see what is disrespectfull in the gentlemans singing of your anthem? ive heard some modern renditions of our star spangled banner that put me to tears .
Firstly, Rule Britannia is not Britains national anthem and never has been. Its just a patriotic song but I think it would be better than our current anthem
I agree. Perhaps - unfortunately, the passing of the current Monarch will be an ideal time for a conversation to update it. Tho I would be concerned another anthem such as Jerusalem would be chosen instead & then the opportunity will be lost indefinately.
Did you know that Parliament has multiple times rejected making any offical anthem? GSTQ is only the anthem by popular use & tradition. If the British people start using Rule Britannia as their national anthem, it becomes so.

What is it that you apply to the record prior to playing it? Some sort of wax or resin?

They didn’t yet have the ability to duplicate records in the 1890s, so the singer had to individually record each one!
Em 1899 fazia 10 anos em que haviam derrubado a monarquia no Brasil!
Your record has held up well over the years. Fascinating singing style, although distasteful by modern standards.
Indeed so
To be fair, you basically had to yell your singing for it to even pick up apparently.

Where about in wales ? I’m also welsh I’m interested
what does puting wax on the record do?
It reduces the friction on the record and thus reduces wear

Well done. I cant hear the welsh accent though. Being an american i would suspect this to be based in a lack of exposure
