It's amazing how well the older stuff works better than the new
It is especially those Farmalls.
This video brings back great memories of my dad and I transplanting tobacco. He began back in the early 60 with a Bemis 2 row drawn transplanter (sometimes drawn with mules). In the early 70's he began using a 4 row Holland drawn planter where the fertilizer and water drums were mounted forward of the setters. With the advent of green houses came the carousel transplanters. Holland and Mechanical tried their hand at the carousel's ,however, the Italians already had it perfected. We finished our tobacco operation (2018) with two Checchi and Magli eight row transplanters. My dad grew 58 tobacco crops and farmed for 62 years before his death.
Harvey that’s a wonderful story of hard work. Thanks for sharing.
That is a
Good way to plant those slips❤
Thanks Ann That planter comes in handy.
Love the idea of teaching your boys how to grow their own food. Good job
I like that planter and it did a great job!
I looked online for that crow away and couldn’t find it
Roger had that planter junebuggin. Hopefully they will do well for you. The boys were doing a great job.
I know it gave me and boo a workout.
Well I gotta say I’ve never seen a holland transplanter fixed up the be pulled off a draw bar like that. But boy that brought back some memories. It’s been many years since I rode one of those
Pull type were very popular around here.
Great job gentlemen. Y'all could drop plants for me anytime. I've got a few sweet potatoes bedded. Hopefully I'll have some slips to plant in a week or so.
I would have liked to had a little more at Rogers.
Y'all are going to have enough sweet potatoes to feed half of Caswell County. The planter worked great and the rows look good. All the best from Greensboro NC.
Hope it does good we’ll have plenty to give away on plow day.
I think Kaley would have a gold mine in that denim shirt I'm 67. And would love buying it. ...and wearing..I wear bibbed overalls and would rather have patches any day than paying almost a $100.00 in Indiana...love the planting video
Thanks Roy
Nice looking job. Thanks for sharing the video Joey. Prayers for all.
Thanks Bart have a good weekend.
Good job .. reminds me of setting out tobacco..
That is some impressive planting skills those boys have! They could easily find a job at Steele Plant Company in about 3 weeks 👏🏼 👏🏼 👏🏼
Thank You Allison.
Great job fellas , it's that time again , stay safe , enjoy .
Thanks Robert
Thanks for the video. Interesting to see how you plant sweet potatoes. All the best 🇬🇧.
The big time farmers do about the same but with fancier machines.
Great job!!! Sweet tater pie now that's the stuff. God bless guys!!
Good seeing yall! I love planting with my boys. God bless yall!
Yes sir I do enjoy it.
Brings back so many memories of helping my Granddad set out tobacco and sweet potatoes with that same combination. 140 and a single row Holland transplanter
Used to plant them in the slide Row
@@Jtwes Slide row😂. Not many people know what you are talking about. We called it sled rows. Granddad would leave a row on the outside of his tobacco field for sweet potatoes and tomatoes.
That brings back memories
Good job by all. Hope you have a good season and bountiful crop. Baked sweet tater with lots of butter sure is good on a cold winter day.
Hey Lamont thank you. Hope you’re coming along well.
@@JtwesThanks, I keep working at it.
That's a nice planter. Saves the ol' back. Ad it's fast.
Especially if the 130 is pulling it.
Thanks for the video guys. Yall are awesome. If you ever in Halifax Va, stop in at Abbott Farm supply. Bill has a awesome selection of everything you can think of to plant.
Hey Eugene Good to know.
Hoping to do some planting here tomorrow. It’s been too wet to even walk out in the garden most of this week.
You got to be fast with that planter. Good job!
Tell me about it. lol 😂
I keep telling myself I need to get me a transplanter. Just ordered me some jets
I see them around from time to time.
@@Jtwes yes sir. I done passed on a lot of fast hitch transplanters. Keep telling myself I don’t need 1 until I get that plant peg out lol
I have the fast hitch Holland planter ad the factory water barrel for my 130. Blessed
The factory barrel left me a long time ago. Lol
Joey, you should let those poor boys plant 24 inches. 12 inches is killing them. 😂
It would be slower for sure.
That 130 is a lot faster in 1st gear than that 140 lol
Yes sir it was. I don’t think he adjusted it to idle down that slow.
@@Jtwes I noticed immediately after buying this 140 that it’s a lot slower in 1st than the super A but faster in 4th
