I got into custom keyboards after watching countless build videos on UA-cam, and it inspired me to try it myself. Eventually, I built my own Keychron Q1 Pro, carefully selecting the switches, keycaps, and even tuning the stabilizers. The process was challenging but incredibly rewarding, and now I have a keyboard that not only looks amazing but feels perfect for my typing style.
I got into keyboards as a natural progression of my PC gaming, tinkering, and electronics hobbies, first trying some pre-builts and then hand wiring my own keyboards.
Building my own handwired boards is what's kept me in the hobby! My first was a dactyl followed by all sorts of split 40s and macro pads, but the dactyl is still my favorite.
I got into custom keyboards when I stumbled upon a forum discussion about mechanical keyboards and customization. Curious, I dove into research and eventually built my own GMMK Pro. Picking the tactile switches, vibrant keycaps, and experimenting with sound-dampening mods was such an enjoyable experience, and now I can’t imagine typing on anything else.
I got into keyboards when I realized how much time I spend typing and wanted a setup that's both functional and enjoyable. My first dive was a simple gaming mechanical keyboard from FNATIC, but once I learned about switches, layouts, and custom builds, I was hooked. It's become a hobby where I can combine my love for technology with creativity, from designing keycaps to experimenting with sound profiles. Plus, there's something special about typing on a board you've built yourself-it's like crafting your perfect weapon (for gaming) or tools for your work. Building my own keyboard taught me patience and creativity, and every stroke feels like a reminder of the effort and love I put into it. It's not just a hobby; it's a connection to something I've created with my own hands.
Hey Lewis, I got into customs keyboards during covid when I first picked up the rk61 with blue switches. Once I got over my clicky switch phase, I started browsing through and found your channel, hipyos and glarses. You guys have taught me so much over the years and have been rocking my nk65 EE for the past few years. I'm still trying to find my "endgame" and with the help of your videos I know ill someday build it! Happy New years, I cant wait what 2025 has in store for your channel.
I got into custom keyboards after getting frustrated with my old, clunky one. I started researching and stumbled upon the world of mechanical keyboards. The idea of customizing switches, keycaps, and even creating my own layout was super exciting! Now I love the process of building and fine-tuning my setup - it’s not just about typing, but making it uniquely mine.
I'm a 40yo auntie who recently started a new job at a tech company. The new Gen Z colleagues all have custom mechanical keyboards and I was mesmerized by the thock thock sound and the aesthetic keycap designs. Feeling fomo, I quickly visited a few physical keyboard shops (cos that's what we older folks do) but it was overwhelming, and maybe the staff didn't want to talk to 40yo aunties? Lol fortunately I found this channel and really enjoyed watching and learning from your videos. Am now choosing my first pre-built keyboard as a starting point. Perhaps it might be something from QWERTYKeys? :D Anyway, big thank you to both Lewis and Squashy for this amazing channel, and hope to keep seeing more!
I got into custom keyboards after watching countless build videos on UA-cam from hipyo tech, you, Lewis Toh and many others and it inspired me very much to try it myself. lat year, I built my own GMMK Pro with selecting the switches, keycaps, and even tuning a little the stabilizers. The process was very challenging for me but it was incredibly rewarding, and now I have a keyboard that not only looks amazing but feels perfect for my typing and gaming. I am hoping for to get the evo keyboard and happy new year!
Hi Lewis! I got into keyboards out of curiosity and a love for tactile experiences. It started with discovering the satisfying feel and sound of mechanical switches, which led me down a rabbit hole of customization. From exploring different switch types to keycaps and layouts, I realized how keyboards can be tailored for both aesthetics and performance. It's become a hobby where creativity meets functionality, and every build tells its own story.
Recently, my logitech g413 is seeing retirement after 6 years of use as some keys have stopped working and its been plagued with keyboard chatter. Cuz of this, I've been on the search for a new keyboard for the last year and discovered custom keyboards which all sounded exceptional and I've been led down a rabbit hole ever since to find the best value custom keyboard. Happy new year to everyone and take care!
I grew more interested in mechanical keyboards as a way to make my desk job feel more enjoyable in 2024. Once I dived deeper into the world of modding switches, keycaps, and boards, I found my typing speed to also improve. I also enjoy the ASMR of the creamy sounds and buttery feel of the keyboards. Your channel made me purchase the Bridge 75 and I have been very impressed with it.
It started with a single broken spacebar on my old keyboard. Frustrated, I watched a video on fixing switches, which spiraled into an obsession with custom builds. One late night, I built my first board-a mismatched mess of clicky switches and colorful keycaps. As soon as I typed on it I was hooked, chasing the perfect sound and feel ever since.
I got into custom keyboards out of curiosity, wanting something unique that felt personal and fun to type on. It quickly turned into a creative hobby where I would spend hours watching UA-cam videos (especially yours!) for the best build, as well as finding time amidst my busy schedule to build my personal keyboard from scratch. Thank you Lewis for being a part of my custom keyboard journey. All the best in 2025!
I started when I kept seeing custom mechanical keyboard builds a few years back on YT. It peaked my interest and I kept finding more & more creators with really good editing. I have listened to many sound tests and watched many switch and keyboard reviews over the years. Still hoping to build a board in the future and settle down with an endgame of my own.
I got into mechanical keyboards after stumbling upon some UA-cam content. Watching people customize their setups and talk about different switches really piqued my interest. Eventually, I got the chance to try out linear switches, and I absolutely loved the smoothness and feel. That was the moment I was hooked, and from there, I dove deeper into the world of mechanical keyboards. The variety, the customization, and the sound - it’s like a whole new hobby!
I got into custom keyboards when I visited a friend's house and typed on his custom keyboard and fell in love with the sound and build quality. I've been researching and watching videos about all the different ones ever since.
I had my first mechanical keyboard from Akko in 2022 after stumbling upon a few videos, and it lasted me until now. But the industry improved rapidly in the last two years that now I'm looking for a new keyboard replacement. Since I'm a beginner, your videos really help a lot for my research. Happy new year!
being a dumb 15 year old who was swayed by everything they saw. one video in my reccomended and it was all downhill from there. 6 months and $500 and im here now
A friend of mine got me into the hobby by chance. He got a Drop CTRL keyboard as his first custom keyboard and he was raving about it over our old standard stock Corsair keyboards at the time (original K70). Shortly after that, my son's keyboard broke, so I thought I would look at the custom keyboard route from my friend's feedback. I built my son a GMMK Pro with MX Brown switches from Micro Center. Once I built his keyboard, I was amazed the difference so I had to replace my own and went down the path of an AKKO PC75B Plus keyboard for my use. Now I'm sitting on 18 keyboards, with 2 commission builds for friends and family. It has turned in an amazing hobby and can't wait to see what 2025 holds new keyboards to add to my collection.
I got into keyboards based off of the sound profile of custom keyboards that some of my friends had built. As a pianist, it was something that piqued my interest and have never stopped since. I am in love with the tinkering aspects of custom keyboards and will continue to develop the craft in the foreseeable future.
I got into keyboards when I got frustrated with my Logitech mechanical keyboard when some switches stopped working two month after purchasing it in 2019. I watched some tutorials on how to replace them. I noticed the different types of switches, and it went downhill from there. I learned how to solder and desolder, and next thing I know, my youtube recommendation algorithm showed more about custom mechanical keyboards, mods, and frankenswitches and more. Bought a secondhand Tofu 60, slapped some cherry browns on it and fell in love with. I gave in and joined my first group buy with the Satisfaction 75.
I always like to tinker and build things like PC and furniture. I got my first prebuilt and did not know that you can mod it until I stumbled across some UA-cam videos about modding keyboards and the different types of switches. Your channel was one of the channels that helped me get more into the hobby on the budget side with all your budget switch reviews.
I got into custom keyboards because they offer endless possibilities for customization, which lets me create something that's uniquely mine. I also love experimenting with the sound of different switch types, it’s so satisfying to find the perfect click or thock! Plus, I’m a huge fan of the retro styles you can create with keycaps and layouts. It’s such a fun and creative hobby!
I am a PC gamer and a systems engineer. I started with a Ducky One, many moons ago, and have been revisiting the subject every few years when it is time for an upgrade. This year, I went much deeper than before.
I got into custom keyboard when the pandemic started in 2020 and i think it is a very interesting hobby. Since then i learned a lot about switches, keycaps, modding, and so on. Glad to see how the custom keyboard rabbit hole has grown in recent years!
I got into custom keyboards preeetty recently, as my family is moving and I've been changing up my entire setup, as well as life. I explored the topics and communities for months, (Being particularly interested in the personalization of keyboards, customizing switches, keycaps, sounds, etc,) searching for the perfect keyboard to fit my very work-in-progress setup. (STILL haven't found one, please give me some ideas..) As my birthday is very soon, late January, Im hoping to get even more ideas and concepts for my newfound hobby. Maybe hoping to make this a sort of side hustle, keyboard customizations?
You should check out Arbiter! I bought their Polar 75 Pro and its incredible. This Evo80 giveaway keyboard is also a very good choice, I looked into for a few weeks before making my decision. Maybe look into those few?
I first got into the custom keyboard hobby during COVID lockdown by watching mostly Hamaji Neo, Taeha, and Alexotos(?). Yeah those three actually ignited the flame for me, but at the time, I can't really afford the keebs that they were promoting or making a video of. So, I went to other channels that has the more budget oriented options until I landed on my first and current custom keeb that I mod from start till finish. It helped me to get through the lockdown and honestly, when I have the money, I will probably upgrade to a better one.
I got hooked on custom keyboards after watching a UA-cam video showcasing the satisfying sound tests and builds of mechanical keyboards. Intrigued, I decided to dive in and built my own Keychron Q2. From choosing the perfect switches to finding the right keycaps, the entire process was both exciting and rewarding, and now I have a keyboard that feels truly personal.
I got into custom keyboards back in like 2021-22 when gaming keyboards were becoming a new trend. Then I found squashy boy and your keyboard videos and realised that building custom keyboards is way better than buying trash, expensive, low QC 'gaming' keyboards.
A friend of mine was into making custom keyboards, it is how I really got interested in the hobby. Finding your UA-cam channel helped me understand what kind of sound I prefer in my first keyboard build.
i got into keyboards a few years ago when my younger brother gifted me one for my birthday :-) i loved how customisable it was and went down the rabbit hole of getting diff aesthetics and sound profiles
I got into custom keyboards when I was actually trying to get a specific aesthetic for my desk setup during the later part of the pandemic and in I go to the rabbit hole. First keyboard was a rk100. I was pretty happy with it for some time. Did all the recommended modes. I just couldn't jump the gun on the more pricey ones but when I saw the Neo series of QK, it felt like I can someone upgrade without breaking the bank. Still loving my "budget" custom keyboards. Finding your channel also reinforced me that you don't always have to spend more to get "premium" quality. Cheers to 2025 Lewis!
I got into custom mechanical keyboards through my friend way back 2021, first started off with a cheap tkl board with blue switches that I got off of him. Some time went by and I started to acquire new boards which I started to make my own, a cheap 60% (lubed linear switches, lubed stock stabs, foam, keycaps), a RK87 (lubed gat yellows, lubed stock stabs, foam, keycaps), and my current project a RK61 (Akko Jelly Blue, lubed stock stabs, foam, tempest mod, keycaps).
Got into mechanical keyboards when my friend gave me his spare board, and when looking for guides on yt how to make it sound better I stumbled on the countless build videos and reviews of custom keyboards online. Currently am using a keychron Q1 with 8008 keycaps and lubed cream yellows, and it serves me great!
When I very first heard about mechanical keyboards, I didn't know what options were out there so I went with a Corsair from Best Buy. It was better than membrane, that's for sure, but it never wowed me. One of my friends had a Ducky so I thought I should try another board, and I got a cheap Velocifire on Amazon with brown switches. Then I stumbled on keyboard content and the modding community. I modded an RK61 and an LTC Nimbleback and I was hooked. Here I am 4 years later and I'm so deep in the hobby, I am running out of room to store everything. I've been to a couple meetups now and I love this community. Thanks for being a good one!
I got into keyboards when I was looking for one back in 2022. I watched a couple videos and was hooked from there. I really like learning about all the different keyboards and watching how they get built. I decided to get the akko 3084b plus in 2022. Haven’t upgraded yet but seeing how much keyboards have improved since then made me want to partake in this hobby again
I got into mechanical keyboards a long time ago when I heard people say that it just gave a much better gaming experience. This was before the hobby had really taken off, so there weren't really many options around, and my first mech keyboard ended up being a DasKeyboard with Cherry Brown switches. I've been in the hobby ever since!
I got into the custom keyboard hobby during the pandemic when I got my RK61 and decided to mod it. Eventually, I got my second keyboard, the TM680, and found your channel. I followed your guide and achieved my desired thocky sound! I've been watching and following you ever since 🤘
I had an old Redragon keyboard that I'd used for years, without really understanding keebs at all. In 2024 I decided to change the switches, and somehow the PCB promptly bricked itself. Buying a replacement began a spiral of learning about custom keyboards, modding, lubing and tuning stabs. This channel helped me find the Ajazz Ak820 pro, so thank you!
Customizing keyboard wasn't in my bucket list until I started to watch some videos on UA-cam. Initially, it was quite daunting to understand and couldn't get the whole gist of it (even until now sometimes I don't) but I'm glad I took the first step to get my first mechanical keyboard to try out. Ever since then I have never looked back and I can't get out of the rabbit hole. My partner and friends always joke to me saying that I'm an octopus because of the numbers of keyboards I bought and used but I take that as a compliment because only I have coolest/ cutest keycaps and keyboards. It's been about 2 years now and I have 5 keyboards. More to come in the future!
Stumbled into mechanical keyboards when I saw a Nuphy ad on social media, then went down this rabbit hole of keebs, including subscribing to this great channel with an articulate young man with a Singaporean accent, which surprised me! Very proud of you; keep up the good work!
I got into keyboards from Linus Tech Tips but gradually fell (exponentially) down the rabbit hole. I fell hard, from an azio levitron to a CoolerMaster to a super modded Keychron and now I just ordered a Bridge75+. Thanks Lewis for being so entertaining and knowledgeable!
I got into custom keyboards after watching countless custom keyboard build videos, I got geeked out super quickly and I'm currently on the hunt to get myself a nice keyboard that I'd custom the hell out of
I got into this hobby all thanks to some handcrafted artisan keycaps I found at a local art market- it really was a cart before the horse situation, but now I’m 2 keyboards in and couldn’t be happier with my decked out ak820 pro which I found from your reccs 😌 Thank you for the awesome vids, and it’s perfect timing for a 2024 summary now that I’m on the hunt for a 3rd keeb!
Hi Lewis, I got into custom keebs because of my friend, he introduced us to this never ending keyboard hobby pit and somehow, I really loved this hobby and the community. Hoping to add more keebs on my collection.
I got into custom keyboards when I got my first mechanical keyboard. It was great because it was a brand new item to me, but after a year or so I wanted to get something that wasn't so clicky and loud. Then I found out about custom keyboards and switches and it opened up a whole new world for me.
I actually got interested in custom keyboards when a random video was shown to me on UA-cam. I love how it sounds and how customisable a custom keyboard is! And now.. I'm addicted. Great video on your top 5!
My call into keyboards happened subtly around... 2015. I started with Cherry MX blues for gaming, tactile and clicky, yum. However, my taste changed overtime, decided to go towards the silent linear... And suddenly, I have an obsession with keyboards. That's how I got into keyboards.
I got into custom keyboards after looking for budget keyboards for my setup and dived deeper and deeper. I had no idea there were so many details in building a keyboard and it slowly became a hobby I want to spend my time on. I unfortunately don't own any keyboard that I desire, but this looks like an AMAZING chance. Good luck everyone, I hope I win
I got into custom keyboards in 2021 when I replaced my broken SteelSeries keyboard with the Tofu65. Currently, I use an Alice keyboard, but I still keep my Tofu65 as a memento of my first custom keyboard experience. Also thank you for being part of my custom keyboard journey! Happy New Year 2025.
Hi Lewis! I recently got into custom keyboards after impulsively selling my old one. I didn’t expect to fall this deep into the rabbit hole, but with so many options and pre-orders out there, it’s been quite a journey deciding what to pick. Wishing you a Happy New Year!
Two years ago I got myself a $20 mechanical keyboard from Taobao because my sister used it and the (really) loud clacky blue switches caught my attention. It scored bonus points because my wife got seriously annoyed by the clackiness of it. I got tired of the keyboard and started looking around, and fell into this pleasant and deep rabbit hole everyone here knows, and just ordered a Bridge 75; I know this isn't going to end with that, and with content creators like you giving us the detailed breakdowns of custom keyboard, I already have my eyes on the Aula F75, the Epomaker P75, the Evo80, and even a Rainy 75! Really enjoy your videos as you get straight into it, keep it up, and happy new year!
Hey Lewis, I got into custom keyboard when my friend who was into the hobby recommended me to get a new keyboard because my keyboard at the time was questionable. The sounds from the keyboards were so satisfying. So now I’m here.
I bought the Bridge75 Pro before Christmas. The black version. it was available at a discount. The unboxing feels great. It looks amazing, feels amazing and sounds amazing. I absolutely love it as someone who is not in the hobby. It makes me feel like typing more. I am glad it won the best 2024 custom keyboard of the year. It deserves it.
I first got into custom keyboards when I got into custom PCs. I first got into PCs when I jumped into building my own PC and learning all the bells and whistles that goes into that. Naturally that led me to having to get a full setup (monitor, mousepad, etc.) and of course I wanted a keyboard that reflected my first new build and from one rabbit hole to another, my everlasting interest into custom keyboards began. I've tried my hand at some light mods on them which I've had ups and downs with such as stripping a screw in a tight place causing me to be unable to actually open the keyboard for modding but it was satisfying to see the end product on some of them. Still debating on if I prefer tactile or linear switches though. So far I've tried 3 budget prebuilts of varying quality and size from full sized to 60% and I can't help but swap between them from time to time since the difference make a, well, difference to me and another one in the rotation wouldn't hurt to have one bit for me.
Always been a fan of aesthetics especially minimalist desk setups. I’ve watched way too many videos and seen some really awesome products. My first keyboard I purchased myself was a keychron. This lead to my fascination in how various keyboards sound.
i mainly got into custom keyboards because of the popular keyboard youtuber glarses. I had already been somewhat in the niche before but i never really got into it like that but after watching my first couple of glarses videos i strated watching everything related to keyboards. i had recently stopped with custom keyboards until i bought the aula f75 and then i started getting back into them. Overall the community of custom keyboards will most likely be something that sticks with me for a long time!
I got into custom keyboard initially from watching youtube videos about custom keyboard reviews and the satisfying typing sounds. I eventually look deeper into the different keyboards and now plan to build my own QK65.
Hey Lewis, I first got into custom keyboards during quarantine after obsessing over custom PCs. I watched countless videos and all night long and even during online school (haha) and researched everything I could about keybboards. I really fell in love with keyboards, and after building my first PC in 2020, I got a Keymove Snowfox to go along with it. I have had it since then and modified it a lot over the years, but I have really wanted to upgrade recently.
I got into custom keyboards after going down a rabbit hole of watching ASMR Keyboards that are thocky and got interested in how to build one that produces the same sound. After that I started watching keyboard UA-camrs like Lewis, Hipyo Tech, Glarses, Shoobs and many more. I currently use one of the cheapest 65% keyboard that you have coincidentally bought from a Chinese shopping app last year and got featured on your video. I plan on building my own keyboard that sounds and feels amazing while typing. Happy New Year to you Lewis and to everybody else! God Bless!
For white elephant on Christmas, someone had gifted an Aula F99 and we all got to hear and feel the creaminess of the keyboard right out of the box. That started my custom keyboard journey!
I just got into keyboards after my coworker lent me his Razer Huntsman Mini. I went down the keeb rabbit hole and now I'm about to get a keeb for myself while also challenging myself with learning dvorak!
I got into custom keyboards when I build my first PC in the middle of the pandemic. At the time, it sounded really nice (to me at the time), but as I got more into keyboards, I started to build more boards.
I bought a custom keyboard a few years ago and it was pretty bad, so I went back to using the keyboard I had dug out of my parents closet. Eventually, the spacebar broke and I had to buy a new one. I bought the case, the switches, and the keycaps, and I really enjoyed the process, which is what got me into custom keyboards.
I developed an interest in custom keyboards after seeing a colleague with one. Intrigued, I delved into UA-cam videos, and eventually, I stumbled across your channel.
I got into a custom keyboard through exposure in OSU! Specially back when Squashyboy was wilding osu and keyboard back in the day. He transitioned into keyboarding seeing you both as friends and eventually consumed more content in keyboading. Since you upload more than squashy i have become a fan and really admire your ideas and expertise. I hope 2025 will be a great year for all of us keyboard enthusiasts
I got into custom keyboards through a rabbit hole that started when I clicked on a Glarses video. Built my very first custom with the Portico75 a few years ago, after lots of internet research.
I got into Custom keyboards after my membrane razer Board broke. At the end of 2022 I wasted nearly 300$ on the kbd67 lite and it didnt even sound good in the end. This year i bought the Bridge75 mainly because of your recommendation actually, and I'm really happy with it! Love the style of your videos btw keep it up
I got into keyboards when i first watched Squashyboy videos, and slowly notice you started making videos yourself and move over to your channel for more consistent uploads and content for custom keyboards. After seeing you building a tofu65 for your girlfriend, I went to bought my first ever custom keyboard the toufu65, and learnt how to lube and build by watching your videos. Don't really have a "End Game" keyboards as I love the process of building new keyboard every now and then that worth the money!! Recently been going into budget keyboard, tried a few from your videos had a great time building it!! All the best to me for the giveaway!!
Started getting into custom mechanical keyboards recently and that Evo 80 is on my shortlist. With the help of channels such as yours I’ve started to learn a lot and looking forward to eventually owning my first one😉
A colleague at work a DuckyMini in yellow at his desk. So I started to look at mechanical keyboards and was amazed by the endless posibilities to customize both estetics and sound.
Hi Lewis, I got into custom keyboards during covid when I was rotting on my couch. It seemed very interesting after watching you build these boards and creating different sounds signatures, though I'd give it a go. Anyways thanks so much for constantly reviewing new keebs, really appreciate it!
I remember the first time I got introduced to mechanical keyboard that weren't the loud gamery ones was the Taeha Types video on TFue's board. Didn't get into it immediately, but eventually my interest increased enough to get me where I am now.
Got into keyboards after deciding to upgrade my setup only a little bit ago, decided to watch some videos on keyboards to find what I would want (and what's affordable) and started to just become generally interested. I had been into custom keyboards for a short time before but it hadn't really crossed my mind as very interesting, kind of just a way to pass time.
Got into keyboard from the ASMR video's. Was a big fan of the sound. And would often play keyboard sounds while working or gaming to lock in. Eventually got a GK61 for the optical switches. And quickly found out I am not into the clicky switches in real life. Went and got a Rainy75 and Crush80 and tested those out. Now playing with the idea of making a PCB and talking to a local CNC Milling company to get pricing on milling some aluminum cases.
I got into custom keyboards 4 years ago because of taeha types and watching those custom keyboards video on YT. Thanks to that, i started watching squashyboy videos and you started coming along so i subscribed to you when you first collab with him. Been a journey bro and im proud to see where you at now.
I started getting into keyboards when I started working at a PC store and I just happened to play type on an Aula F75. The sound and feel blew me away and I started to watch videos on keebs to see which one I wanted as a starting mechanical keyboard and I went for the aula f75 as my starter!
I got into the custom keyboard scene after a friend brought me to the Carboot Event and I bought a keyboard from you.. Now I am deep in the rabbit hole and am looking forward to trying new keyboards.
Got into custom keyboards after seeing Taeha's videos on the Keycult commissions! I remember hearing the sounds of a keyboard that wasn't a "gaming" keyboard for the first time and instantly fell in love. Ever since then I've basically just been an avid watcher of keyboard videos planning my dream and endgame board (we all know there is no end game lmao) :3
I got into custom keebs buy watching a lot of youtubers like You, Hipyo and Switch and Click. The sound from the creamy and thocky keyboards just scratched and itch in my brain and now I'm addicted
I got into custom keyboards when I needed an upgrade for my gaming keyboard. Had always just bought stuff like prebuilt Razor. When I started looking into Keyboards, I learned quickly the best is to just always go custom and pick all your stuff out individual. Not saying there's not amazing keyboard these days ready to go out the box but nothing will ever beat hand picking and doing everything from the ground up.
got my first ever PC in 2021...along with that started searching for a mechanical keyboard, came across Hamaji Neo and ever since it has been down the rabbithole. Started with the RK71 in 2021 and now currently using a Neo Ergo going into 2025.
Channels like yours, hipyo tech, and squashy boy helped and persuaded me to build custom keyboards. My first two were actually directly from your videos 2 yrs ago!
I actually initially got into custom mechanical boards with the sole intention of increasing my wpm. But after modding my rk61 and seeing the improvements to sound and feel I delved further into the rabbithole
hi I got into custom keyboards because I was captivated by the seemingly infinite opportunities for customization and personalization, allowing me to dive into a world where I could meticulously select and experiment with key switches tailored to my preferred typing feel and sound, explore an array of stunning and artistic keycap designs made from different materials, and even craft the overall aesthetic and functionality of a keyboard to reflect my unique personality and needs, all while discovering the unparalleled satisfaction of assembling something both highly functional and deeply personal that transforms everyday typing into an immersive and joyful experience like no other.
Started with stumbling into your Chanel and watching you since the start of 2024 till I built some custom keyboards. Love your vids and Happy New Year. (Early)😊
I visited my high school classmate’s house years ago for a project and he had a Razer Blackwidow, and I’ve been diving deeper and deeper down the rabbit hole since!
Got into custom keyboards almost by accident, like it was more out of curiosity. Got a custom pre-built off Carousell, then fast forward a few years later, I'm using a Wooting 80HE thanks to your channel and others like you.
I got into custom keyboards when I had to replace the switches of my 10+ years old CMStorm. Watched tons of videos, soldered too many JWK Blacks V2 (picked up watching your video, thanks for the useful content!), PE modded, tape modded... and ended up enjoying the hobby a lot. Sadlu, soon after the daughterboard stopped working, so I got myself another cheap hot swappable board. The EVO80 looks really interesting, especially for the ISO PCB 👀 (I'm European and there aren't that much customs supporting it).
i got into custom keyboards because im a performance freak and i love in depth searchs for stuff that will give me the best performance, so i started to search the market to know what is the best bang for my buck and got really deep into the rabbit hole lol.
When I started with computers most keyboards were mechanical 😉 I have used a variety of other types over the years but recently rediscovered my love for mechanicals. Nothing else sounds or feels the same!
Next video top 5 HE keyboards! Been doing some R&D but it's different when you don't touch and feel the keyboards yourself. I got into custom keyboards when I wanted to change to a smaller keyboard build from the standard one. Been a long journey but now I am looking to build another one.
forgot to mention, but i’ll pick the giveaway winner on 12th January!
Whose the winner ?
Winner sir?
Where's...the winner? ._.
its posted on youtube short, i announced on ig awhile back too
I got into custom keyboards after watching countless build videos on UA-cam, and it inspired me to try it myself. Eventually, I built my own Keychron Q1 Pro, carefully selecting the switches, keycaps, and even tuning the stabilizers. The process was challenging but incredibly rewarding, and now I have a keyboard that not only looks amazing but feels perfect for my typing style.

nice i love that
I got into custom keyboards when I stumbled upon a forum discussion about mechanical keyboards and customization. Curious, I dove into research and eventually built my own GMMK Pro. Picking the tactile switches, vibrant keycaps, and experimenting with sound-dampening mods was such an enjoyable experience, and now I can’t imagine typing on anything else.

Got into this hobby through glarses vids and it spiralled from there, looking and switches, cases, mounting styles and the works.
Happy new year!
good job pulling through for 2 years not upgrading, its actually perfect now with the current market for an upgrade

Maybe look into those few?
get into wooting!!!
W way to start
articulate young man with a Singaporean accent 😭
I got into keyboards from Linus Tech Tips but gradually fell (exponentially) down the rabbit hole. I fell hard, from an azio levitron to a CoolerMaster to a super modded Keychron and now I just ordered a Bridge75+. Thanks Lewis for being so entertaining and knowledgeable!
I got into custom keyboards after watching countless custom keyboard build videos, I got geeked out super quickly and I'm currently on the hunt to get myself a nice keyboard that I'd custom the hell out of
I planned on getting a good-sounding budget keyboard and stumbled upon your budget custom keyboard videos!
W
I got into this hobby all thanks to some handcrafted artisan keycaps I found at a local art market- it really was a cart before the horse situation, but now I’m 2 keyboards in and couldn’t be happier with my decked out ak820 pro which I found from your reccs 😌
Thank you for the awesome vids, and it’s perfect timing for a 2024 summary now that I’m on the hunt for a 3rd keeb!
MY GUY! YOU’RE THE WINNER, drop me a dm on ig! accompanied with a screenshot of the proof of me replying to your comment just to be safe❤️

Didn't get into it immediately, but eventually my interest increased enough to get me where I am now.
nice!
This is awesome, wish I had the skills to make a true custom board, hope it goes well!
nice!
Started with the RK71 in 2021 and now currently using a Neo Ergo going into 2025.
hamaji is the goat
Had a colleague with a very nice sounding keyboard in office, and asked her what keyboard it was. The rest is history!
oh yes, that first time when u see/hear it always hits hard
Channels like yours, hipyo tech, and squashy boy helped and persuaded me to build custom keyboards. My first two were actually directly from your videos 2 yrs ago!
I actually initially got into custom mechanical boards with the sole intention of increasing my wpm. But after modding my rk61 and seeing the improvements to sound and feel I delved further into the rabbithole
Since I got into PC gaming, mechanical keyboards has always intrigued me. From the sounds to looks of it. Never regretted since then!
hi I got into custom keyboards because I was captivated by the seemingly infinite opportunities for customization and personalization, allowing me to dive into a world where I could meticulously select and experiment with key switches tailored to my preferred typing feel and sound, explore an array of stunning and artistic keycap designs made from different materials, and even craft the overall aesthetic and functionality of a keyboard to reflect my unique personality and needs, all while discovering the unparalleled satisfaction of assembling something both highly functional and deeply personal that transforms everyday typing into an immersive and joyful experience like no other.
Started with stumbling into your Chanel and watching you since the start of 2024 till I built some custom keyboards. Love your vids and Happy New Year. (Early)😊
I got into keyboards and building them, and it’s all because of you. You’ve inspired me to create even more!
One of my very close friend was into custom keyboards and enlightened me on how good keyboards can actually sound.
i got into custom keyboards because im a performance freak and i love in depth searchs for stuff that will give me the best performance, so i started to search the market to know what is the best bang for my buck and got really deep into the rabbit hole lol.
When I started with computers most keyboards were mechanical 😉 I have used a variety of other types over the years but recently rediscovered my love for mechanicals. Nothing else sounds or feels the same!
Hey Lewis, I got into custom mechanical keyboards after hearing how awesome they sound. Way better than working on a boring old keyboard!
Next video top 5 HE keyboards! Been doing some R&D but it's different when you don't touch and feel the keyboards yourself.
I got into custom keyboards when I wanted to change to a smaller keyboard build from the standard one. Been a long journey but now I am looking to build another one.
