I have watched this particular video several times because I’m always trying to figure out the style shoe for the style pant I’m wearing! It’s not as easy as one would think!
Melissa is our Fashion Angel - guarding us from fashion mistakes at all times :) And looks like a real Angel as well! Thank you Melissa!!!! You have no idea how much your videos mean to us!!!
Oh dear, just switching the top and shoes on the first outfit opened up my eyes. I’m beginning to see that it’s my choice of clothes that makes me look frumpy. Thanks Melissa for opening up my eyes.
Hi Melissa, I love that you show what doesn't work first instead of just showing a styled outfit. Yes to a live, sounds like a great idea, prepare to be bombarded with questions! 😄.
It's great to see a UK based site where we can purchase clothes from the High Street and the look is modern and classy. Love that you ae showing different looks for one piece. Thank you.
Have you watched the body shape master class episode 2 and 3? Both of those ladies had tummy’s that needed disguising so it may be worth you watching them. X
Hi. I really struggle with choosing the right style of clothes to flatter my body but your videos do help me.😊 I'm 5'0 and a size 12/14 with thick calves and ankles and really struggle with finding outfits that flatter me. Please could you do a video for larger sized petites. Xx
I’ve already done one Allison. It’s called the body shape master class episode 3 and she was a 5ft1 uk size 16 lady that I dressed. I’ll paste the link below but I’m not sure if it’ll display correctly so just in case it doesn’t If you look through the latest videos on my homepage you should see it but here’s the link. ua-cam.com/video/d12vQqib5hU/v-deo.html
Hello Melissa! I am from Puerto Rico, but have been living in Texas, USA for many years. I am 43 years old. I just found your videos by coincidence and I started to watch them. I plan to see them all. Love, love, love your style. I will be paying more attention to what I wear since you make it more easy to understand. Thank you for your videos.
Yeay!!!! You ARE MY INSPIRATION!! I really needed to find someone like you to look up to. I think people don't know how to dress for the different occasions or circumstances any more. I am a little old fashion in that sense. Like underwear is meant to worn UNDER YOUR CLOTHES NOT TO BE SEEN by others and of course to make us look our best. I am 5'1" and I still need to figure out my body type (I did watch your video on that, but need to review it again). I definitely need to hide my belly at the moment. That is where fat is usually stored. Can't wait for more of your beautiful inspiring videos Melissa!
Hi Melissa. I hope you and your family are recovering wonderfully 💗. Thank you for ALL of your videos. I love your tips and suggestions, and find that these are very practical for us with different shapes and for everyday lives. Stay safe and be well.
Love your videos. I’m in the USA and so glad I found you. I would find videos on what shoes and boots to wear with outfits very helpful. Especially ones that are lower heels but still stylish. Also videos on foundations to wear underneath to help hide all the lumps and bumps!
Wow the monochrome outfits look fab on you !!!! I also love the high waist jeans you feature - just wow! thanks for sharing your tips - I used to throw on an oversize black anything sweater over anything as my solution to hide my post partum kilos...and I see from your videos how awful and heavy it actually looks - so informative - thank you - we learn things every day with talent like yours that share through UA-cam 🥰
Melissa, what a video! You really illustrate the difference by comparing the SAME trousers worn different ways, unlike many who show fantasy images from Pinterest or direct from retailers. Guilty on a few counts but SO glad I've held on to old bootcut and wide leg jeans! You've taught me the importance of tonal dressing and top/bottom balancing. I appreciate that you don't style everything with impractical heels, but those grey courts are fab! A live session would be great. I am tall (5'11") and struggle to get quality coats and shoes (44/45) in my size (12/14 UK). I have a lot of black but would prefer more grey and navy. Where to shop? Hope you and your family are all doing ok.
Thank you 🙏. Standby as next Wednesday I’m filming a 6Ft lady and currently buying lots of pieces for her to try on and she has a 36” inside leg so lots of shop suggestions coming up!
Been watching a lot of different people on UA-cam regarding styling tips and I think your styling is more relatable to me. Loved this trouser edit as I have been getting stuck with some of my trousers and now realise its most likely my shoes causing the looks not to look right.
Yay! Thank you! You're exactly right - shoes are the maker or breaker of most outfits and the most common mistake that I see in my clients wardrobes. Another video coming out tomorrow showing 'styling hacks' so hopefully that will be of interest to you too xx
Hi Melissa! You've got a new subscriber.I'm absolutely in awe with your method and your knowledge. I've learnt more with you today than with many youtubers in years! I love how you present the "wrong" look first and then you correct it going from simple to more elaborate. Thanks! I also love your accent and learn from your speech since I'm an English teacher from Spain.
I haven't watched any of your ideas before. This was great as it was simple to follow. Again I agree that the 'wrong' way was shown as well as the right one really helped. thank you xxx
Everything you said and showed makes so much sense, I just never saw it before. I think the only thing I was getting right was I would never wear bootcut jeans with flats.
You are so great at explaining how to get different looks with various types of clothing. You are way ahead of other stylist type bloggers because they do not often give many tips for camouflaging a slight problem area or avoiding the ‘MOM’ look.
Thank you for doing this video. Love the black outfit at the end, never thought about those split hem trousers before. I love the waistcoat too (Gillet / Vest). I have a black one, but will consider a beige one now that I have seen it. Awesome options. Appreciate all the effort that you put into all of your videos, not only the video but all the information below is so helpful.
I have bought a few things that you recommend. I bought the leather jacket that you had - black, but the arms were too long. I did buy it in a size up, luckily because they are small sizes. I also bought the leggings from M & S, the denim/jeans look, and a few other things. I love Reiss, they do such a great look on their website. but sometimes it is just too expensive for someone who does not go out much!
Thanks for your styling help....I continue to do everything wrong! I really find it helpful and like how you breakdown outfits and show ways to update looks. This type of presentation is great. Wishing you all a speedy recovery.
Hi Melissa... hope you’re feeling better. I enjoyed the video as always 👌.. so pleased that flares are big for this year .. always loved them anyway 😆..anything 70s and I’m happy ... would love a Q&A... look forward to it . Pauline xx
Excellent content on styling fitted and wide leg trousers Melissa. I’m now a convert to ‘the tuck’ and hoping to achieve a less mumsy look with the ideal shoe/trouser length. Would love a live video. Hope you all feel better soon X
love how you start with the basics and add one piece at a time exploring why it elevates the style- the side by side comparison visuals are brilliant. Thank you so much 😊 have a beautiful day
This is all especially helpful for me, as I am exactly the same size and height as you - and have many similar items in my wardrobe - so it’s like a personal styling session: thank you!
Another great video, thanks. I am recovering from Covid too so am binge watching your vid's. I enjoy your "live" commentary but the voice over worked too. I am beginning to see that I have too many "rules" about what a petite frame can and can't wear. I am also amazed at how the showing of ankles and wrists makes such a difference!
Another great video, loved it. You always look fab, which is just as well considering that’s the whole point ☺️ I don’t mind either style of video, talking on camera or voice over, you could pick and choose as you saw fit. Thanks again
I really loved this. The first outfit I thought looked great, until you upped it. So many handy tips. I tend to wear a lot of black on the bottom… who do I get the tonal look that you do. Yours looks so much more stylish
Watching From New Jersey. I need a glossary of terms! Jumper, trainers, gillet, baseball boot... all new to me, but fun to figure it all out. I'm a huge fan of wide leg trousers, so these styling tips are extra helpful! Love your channel!
😂😂😂 I work with with a lot of lovely American ladies online and I’m starting to pick up your lingo too (sneakers - that’s a chocolate bar for us!!!). Thanks for watching x
@@mmpersonalstyling I think Jumper = Sweater, Gillet = Vest, Baseball Boot = Chuck Taylors/Keds, Trainers = Depends on region of USA, I call them Sneakers... Others call them Athletic Shoes. But it's pretty amazing how much the styles are the same on both sides of the pond!
Thank you so much for this video. I loved the format. It allowed me to see the outfits worn multiple ways as well as the "right" and "wrong" way. This is probably the most helpful video I've watched in a long time.
oh please do one on styling scarves to broaden shoulders and bust and balance hips please :-) ??? and what to do to minimise big feet? thanks so much i am loving your videos! Cheers, Allison
This is a great video. Something I always struggle with is which shoes to wear with with outfits and how to wear boots. If you could do a shoe styling video that would be great! Thank you
Another great presentation! The leather trousers / leggings are such a winning combination for you. Definitely a perfect fit with so many tops, blouses, sweaters and jackets. Looking forward for a leather leggings special!
Fabulous tips, Melissa - I like that you’ve shown the less flattering look as well as the “after” look and you’ve inspired me to show this in my little videos. Thank you so much for sharing! Donna 🧚♀️❤️🐝
You speak my langjuage and I love learning from you. I can imagine that your client base is fairly young, but if you could address styling when heels are not an option, that would be fabulous. Looking forward to ideas for summer and how to look styled without layers. Thank you so much. PS. Love this format. Fewer words. No music. This is rocket science to me.
Melissa I discovered your videos during lockdown and I absolutely love them and you! You are such a beautiful lady with fabulous style, I find your videos and instructions so helpful, thank you. I actually have a pair of those chunky Chelsea boots from Timberland and I would really love some advice on how to style them, I'm short, only 4 feet 11 inches and a size 10, my tummy is my problem area. Any advice would be appreciated or better yet a video on footwear and winter boots/shoes? Thanks Melissa
I'll definitely do a video on winter footwear so watch out for that. it won't be for a couple of months as winter boots aren't in our shops right now. The quickest advice I can give you is to pair them with a long coat or cardigan. This long outer layer will make you look more elongated and will prevent the boots from shortening your leg length. x
I just found your account and i like your videos a lot. It looks so simple and obvious when you show the different outfits. All the small details really makes a difference. Will continue checking your account. I live in Sweden but will relocate to they UK later this year. I must say, over all, Swedish people have a better dress sense than Brits. Your style feels quite Scandinavian with a classic twist. Swedes often take the trends to seriously making everyone dress the same which I find very boring. I like it how you refer to your preferences and your body type to make it right your you.
Another great video. Lots of good tips. I too, can see myself falling into the frumpy category and it’s good to see how I could change this. How can Ido something like the half tuck but avoid drawing attention to the stomach and waist?
That’s a really great question. Firstly try and assess whether your stomach is genuinely sticking out as much as you think by looking at it from a side perspective (there’s not many tummy’s that don’t protrude when looking down the torso!!). If you can genuinely see it sticking out then firstly you could wear some shaping underwear (but I appreciate you don’t want to do the weekly shop being all sucked in!) so secondly when you tuck in, make sure there enough of the jumper at each of the sides, so you’re only really lifting a very small section of the jumper up, just enough to create more leg length. It’s really hard to describe so I’ve made a note of it and will show you in the next video. The other styling trick is to layer a longer cardigan, coat or open shirt. The vertical lines will reduce the torso width and give cover at the sides which will hide the side on view of the tummy. Not sure if that helps but try and demonstrate on the next video x
Thank you, that’s great. Would be good to see a demo though as well! I have just tried the half tuck with a jumper I’m wearing, but don’t think I have got it quite right.
I am an apple shape and I watched a vid where the girl did a side tuck and this works better for me. It makes your jumper look asymmetrical instead of just hung down.
Thank you so much!! A lot of the comments are saying they liked the 'how not to style' parts so i'll definitely do more of that. We're both feeling a lot better thank you.
I hope you and your daughter are feeling completely well soon. I enjoy your videos, and look forward to purchasing a few of the items you have recommended. Thank you.
Thank you for your tips! Love them! I also appreciate your mentioning where you purchased the different pieces you model! It's so frustrating trying to hunt something down that you really want!
Oh dear! I could see myself in a lot of the before shots. Great video, very clear and easy to follow. Will have to check out your other videos now. Thank you 😊
Definitely not make up as I honestly haven’t got a clue what I’m doing there - I’ve had the same make-up for the last 20 years 😂 but yes I’d consider doing hair if people really want to see it?!
Loved the video. Never heard of a "jumper" or "Gillette?" We call them sweaters and vests! Love it! I always learn so much from your videos! I am a 🍐 shaped tall plus woman.
Love the voice over, I think it really gets to the point and seems more instructive. This is a great video with your do's and don'ts. Great job and thanks for your help.
Like your styling tips, for our mood, even bought the «party continues». My parents got the ME, and just now are recovering. And the wardrobes you feature, sheer me up to vídeo chat with my mom . I hope you get well, and thanks for the style advise😎😘

Very useful information, I'm an inverted triangle shape, 5.6in. So this has helped me so much. Thank you love your videos, styling for the everyday multitasking women ❤

I like it how you refer to your preferences and your body type to make it right your you.
Thank you very much Angelica and welcome on board! I've just posted a new Body Shape Master Class (episode 4) if that's of any interest to you. x
You are amazing and SO helpful! Very often common sense for proportion but great examples and styles :) Thank you.
You're so welcome! x
Yay! A stylist my height. So refreshing. Thank you, some great tips.
Great, thank you, I’ll try that!
Wow you look stunning for someone who is suffering from Covid 😍
You can put that down to a good camera and studio lighting but thank you! X
I hope you and your daughter get well soon!
Either style of video is good.
Love this video the talk over style is great and lots of useful info to be more modern and put together. Thank you
Thank you for the feedback Rachael, it’s good to know x
I just love you and your videos Melissa, but this was one of my favorites yet! Thanks for sharing and I hope you and your daughter feel better soon!
Thank you so much!! A lot of the comments are saying they liked the 'how not to style' parts so i'll definitely do more of that. We're both feeling a lot better thank you.
I Love this format a lot!!! A lot of times we put outfits together and don’t know why or what is wrong and you explain it very well. Awesome video! 💋
So glad! Thank you for watching x
I hope you are feeling better; this was an interesting video. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Oh dear! I could see myself in a lot of the before shots. Great video, very clear and easy to follow. Will have to check out your other videos now. Thank you 😊

Really love you and your videos! Thanks so much for making them for us 😊😊
Great advice, as always! Thanks so much for your videos!
Hi Melissa! You always look so beautiful! Would you ever consider doing a video on hair and makeup?
Definitely not make up as I honestly haven’t got a clue what I’m doing there - I’ve had the same make-up for the last 20 years 😂 but yes I’d consider doing hair if people really want to see it?!
REALLY excellent. One of the best ones I've seen. Now the test is to apply those lessons to my wardrobe. ☝️😉
Wow, thank you! I appreciate it x
I appreciate everything you do; it is all helpful. Thank you so much, dear.
So nice of you, thank you x
Loved the video. Never heard of a "jumper" or "Gillette?" We call them sweaters and vests! Love it! I always learn so much from your videos! I am a 🍐 shaped tall plus woman.
I’ve just filmed a nearly 6Ft lady and a 5ft8 lady so hopefully that will benefit yourself xx
Love the voice over, I think it really gets to the point and seems more instructive. This is a great video with your do's and don'ts. Great job and thanks for your help.
You’re more than welcome and thank you for the feedback x
Like your styling tips, for our mood, even bought the «party continues». My parents got the ME, and just now are recovering. And the wardrobes you feature, sheer me up to vídeo chat with my mom . I hope you get well, and thanks for the style advise😎😘
Sorry to hear about your mum but i'm glad the videos are a little bit of escapism for you. Thank you for watching x

Buying clothes and fashion might become fun again for me - love your videos. The first thing I'd like is the Zara fitted blazer!
I hope it does. Clothes can be a great confidence tool xx 😘
I just loved this video. When I do my last look at an outfit, these pointers will definitely help me figure out what might need to be changed to present my best look.

I love the comparisons!! So helpful 🥰
Very useful information, I'm an inverted triangle shape, 5.6in. So this has helped me so much. Thank you love your videos, styling for the everyday multitasking women ❤
You are so welcome! If you're a inverted triangle have you watched Episode 2 of the Body Shape Master Class series? The model I used sounds like she has very similar proportions to yourself x
@@mmpersonalstyling thank you I'll have a look, size 16 on top large bust and 12 on bottom, I'm trying to have a clear out of my wardrobe and condense to what suits and have stopped buying fast fashion 8 months now, really consider what I buy. Love your videos so informative 👏 x
