This music video is clearly very deep and thought- provoking. Well done ladz, another great banger from Leicester. Wish I was seeing you on tour this month.
The more I watch this video, the more depressing I notice it is. The video progressively goes from a normal hospital to the doctors going around naked, giant bunnies appearing, everything just becoming nonsensical as to show that he's swallowed by his "nightmares". Each repeat of him going down the hallway, he attempts to cause a commotion with nearly fatal actions, but everyone around still doesn't seem to care about what he did, nor the people that he did it to. It only releases more nightmares, like that random swimmer. As irrelevant as it might seem to others, what hit me the hardest about this song was the way that woman (i presumed his mother?) just sort of ended up letting him go/ loosing him as he carried on forwards. I don't know if it was intentional or not, but to me it just seemed rlly symbolic of how we as humans grow apart and often just loose each other in the grand scheme of things, really just highlighting our individual irrelevance in the grand scheme of things- even to those who you were closet to at some point in your life. I've probably articulated that terribly but it rlly just hit me in the feels man
@keef chief, I would like to add my articulation of the woman character. somewhere in the comment section I went over that this song was about the small problems we all have as individuals, and that they are too small and/or "irrelevant" for other people to bother about and attempt to help solv because they are occupied trying to solv there own little problems, (As an example in the song it talks about the nightmares that hinder "him" in sleeping). All the characters in the music video are stereotype of the different people approaching someones "small" problems, and their interactions with the person, (I'm just going to mention the womman character). The woman character activly addresses the problem with the guy and makes several attempts of comforting him 0:25 (taking in mind not that he has been in a car crash, but about his nightmares and inability to go to sleep in peace), but after a while she looses interest in caring for him and finds greater pleasure in other things, (such as eating kake in this instance 0:46). But remember, that's just a theory, a song and music video theory. Thanks for reading.
@keef chief I interpreted it negatively towards the woman actually. I noticed that the guy, in the beginning, told her not to care about what was happening, in which she seemed to act repulsively. She then exerts her extreme empathetic nature when she cries for the patient, but as she moves forward with him, she gets distracted by the baby in every situation and once again begins to emotionally over-exert herself on how she thinks the other person is feeling. It seems like a positive quality, she clearly is very caring for everyone around her, but all the care for others that she externalizes seems to compensate for the truthful lack of care internally. You can draw this conclusion when you see the next 'scene' where she gets distracted again and self-indulges to compensate for all the external care for others she has been exhibiting. In the case of the patient and the couple, she ultimately abandons them both.
I think that every time it restarts, he has another "accident". The head injury and lyrics about "nightmares" indicate mental health problems (He has depression and had multiple suicide attempts). At first the family is in distress but the doctors say that they shouldn't worry about it (For the family it's a big deal because it's the first time but the doctors witness "accidents" like that on the daily so..). Every time it restarts we see the mother getting more and more used to it and finds distractions. "It's all a bit of fun until somebody gets hurt" means that people don't take mental health and suicide seriously until someone actually dies. (literally putting him into a coffin made out of ballons and dressing him up funny.. making a joke out of it). Ehhhh... Amazing video but the topic frustrates me so much.. :(
wow, thats a really good take on it! I was trying to figure out what the pink coffin was about.. I am curious about the juxtapositions of his injuries (/suicide attempts) and the baby's celerbration near the beginning of the first corridor. Like, is it because people would rather focus on the positives of life/birth than the negatives? Also, leading on from your thoughts about his family I noticed that the first few times, his mum is really upset about it (understandably); then his (i think) dad, from the very beginning, seems less bothered by it. I think that's about how guys/men are expected to be less open about emotions, esp with mental health. :/ its kinda shitty but yeah.

@@stormblessed178 I think the last bit. They're dolling him up when he's in the coffin, which fits with how people love to like, post on social media about how amazing someone was after they die, despite never speaking so fondly of them when they were alive. @@braydosnachos95 It's gonna be okay. You just need the right people and the right help around you. It can seem like you're stuck in the same scenario every day, just looking in the mirror and thinking what the hell you are even doing.. But, as long as there's someone who believes in you, and encourages you to try and get better, everythings going to be okay someday. There's always someone. I do have depression myself, I'm experiencing moodswings like crazy and I start feeling like a fool just because I dropped a pencil. My coworkers are really helpful. They try to help me through bad times and whenever I look like I need it, they try to make me laugh, or they just listen to me talking about my totally irrelevant problems. They encouraged me to go back to therapy and so on. Find yourself people who are like that. I wish you the best, please fight and I hope you'll be truly happy some day. But take your time. Healing takes time. (I'm not very good at talking english, but I still hope you understood what I meant to say)
I have no idea what this exactly means, but the signs on the side of the corridors saying 'there's no time for you' 'please go away' and 'woooo' must represent some sort of mental illness or anxiety surely. Really cool detail not going to lie, love the deep hidden meaning of it all
The mental health services in the UK will send you through the same things again and again, realistically with millions of patients these counsellors have no reason to care, they're paid to treat you rather than listen
also the welcome to the world sash he has around him probably signifies how whenever mental illness is brought up some asshat always has to say smth like "that's just adulthood" or "we all feel like this welcome to the real world"
@@idunno3370 I noticed that the bald nurse seems really uncomfortable, tired and anxious. In the last verse he also says "Everybody on the late night shift. Everybody on the brink of crisis, ain't nobody want to feel like this" Which makes me think it might also be about the frustration of having limited options to help someone in the medical field as well as the people suffering from the illness itself. Food for thought, Cheers
@@tutin4090 Just shows what a state this country has become when it comes to all healthcare really, not to say them themselves aren't putting in a shift because they're doing more than expected. It's the funding which it all spurs from. The worst thing is we can't do anything about it.

The older I get, having to go to school, work, and support my family this song means everything to the circumstances of these facts. Life is especially hard for everyone this year financially and emotionally. So, I wish everyone good blessings. No matter how hard we have to work, no matter how hard it feels to keep going now, no matter how much we are losing or gaining this year, remember that we are all putting in our weight and pushing forward. Together we can survive this. We can make it through the "nightmare" together.
it's the simple things that you notice in the video. how the mom looks so upset in the first run and in the second she looks only a little upset. and when the mom congratulates the new parents she puts her hands on her heart, and the doctor nearby tilts her head in the second run, unlike the first. truly wonderful.
Mikayla Potatah my guess of this song: the mother is crying about her son and his injury. Which happens to be to his brain. However, they pass the man and women holding a baby. The women holding the baby looks like the mother crying. The father looks like he doesn’t care, and out of the picture. “Nobody gives a fuck”. The don’t worry we got you poster is basically saying that they just prescribe you pills for anything. (Because they do). Also the pink - pink = girl. “Welcome to the world” however his a Male? But his also in a coffin. The man with the women holding the baby pushes him back into the coffin. Your born to die. Nothing’s real. Imagine.
I've been looking for this song for HOURS, i tried looking up 'music video where guy goes through hospital' but nothing came up. I had to go through a year of my history to find this, definitely worth it
I think this video is about the small problems everyone has, it's not about mental illness or any physical injury (disregarding the music video), but about the small stuff that bothers us. An example would be like the nightmares, its not a big deal, he isn't going to die but it causes him to stay up all night causing him to move sluggish and always tired the next day (mentioned in the song). These kinds of small problems no one can be bothered about. So what if you have nightmares, I have nightmares too sometimes and you dont see cry about it. That's what most people would think, the small things that really start to itch after a long time. Its like having a pebble in your shoe it wont kill you but after walking miles with that little pebble in your shoe your feet will blister so bad you may not be able to walk any farther. No one cares about the small problems you have, because everyone has these kinds of problems and would prioritise themselves first instead of a successful rich celebrity or the next door neighbour. After a while these small problems of our build up and end up affecting our happiness. You are the only person that can help yourself, because everyone ells is busy helping themselves.
I personally think how those things, the depressive things, becomes slowly normalized in our lives and we slowly treat it as a normal thing. Because well, the people around us can't really do much to take it off. Most people don't know what to do and we learn not to bother people with those episodes. But good interpretation as well.
I really like your take on this but from what I've heard its about how bad free/European Healthcare is and how people in the medical field don't care there
my schools nurse smokes a pack a day before school and she does it on school grounds and then yells at the kid who occasionally takes a hit from a juul it’s like 𝘣𝘪𝘵𝘤𝘩
"The reason why Im telling you not to do the shit I do myself is because I dont want you to turn out to be me" a good quote for this from a movie I long forgotten the name of
Can't believe 'easy' was a tm, you guys played after us at some gig in Manchester.. Or Liverpool... It was north... Or Sheffield.. years back, we had our merch nicked by some random lol
I saw a few other people trying to understand the possible meaning of the song/music video and thought I would try working out my ideas here. I think the music video is showing the apathetic and repetitive nature that occurs when people experience mental illness over a long period of time. The song talks about feeling lonely and having nobody to reach out to, so you accept the fact that this exhausting monotony will likely just exhist forever. The music video shows this by pushing the feeling of "I'm in a lot of pain right now, but it's easier to just go along with the ride than to try reaching out to people who are all distracted with their own lives." The music video also shows the product of that mindset, where he is going with the flow and trying not to pay attention to the present issues and winds up hurting the people around him. This mindset is a great coping mechanism, though, because it essentially seperates yourself from the real world ("I don't need to know what's real or not no more") The song perfectly links the feelings represented by the music video with real authentic thoughts people have when they've "settled in" to their mental illness.
I feel your response, but to me its about putting others before yourself until you got nothing leftto give and crash and burn. And everyone is all "Ohmygod, how could this happen, nobody saw that coming". Best example is the "oh you go ahead get some sleep I'll take the nightshify"
So basically their new song, ocean view is a prequel. He was in a car crash, probally killed somebody. My guess is that he dreamed about the fish while he was unconcious. This leads into nightmares because he lost the love of his life while she was only in his head. Nightmares is probally about the things that bother you but nobody gives a sh*t about. While these things can desteoy a person. Nobody is going to care about his nightmares: who is going to listen to him talking about a fish in his dreams?
Because I'm not a native speaker I don't think I understand all of the meaning of the song though I'm really into this song and give a big love from Japan. Thank you for the recommendation system, UA-cam!!
I love how the video is a continuous cycle, which could reference the continuous cycle of life and how do the same thing over and over again each day (school/work) to the point where for some people it becomes a nightmare, and the way his mother leaves his side shows how in life you're not guided and need to find your own way yourself

Reading about the business of your band name in the paper. This happened to me and a band I was in years ago. What we did would be the equivalent of you changing your name to 'the easylifes', just a suggestion
"Everybody on a late night shift, everybody on the brink of crisis, ain't nobody wanna feel like this." Damn straight. This song speaks to me. As happy as the song sounds, there is a very sad undertone as made obvious by the lyrics. Going through a tough time in life right now, this song makes me feel like someone understands.
It's ok, but my obsession with this song is something out of this world, I can't stop listening to it, even I think this is not normal. It's already more than ten times that I listen to it in the day, I never get tired of this work of art. Thank you UA-cam for recommending this gem.

I have no idea what this exactly means, but the signs on the side of the corridors saying 'there's no time for you' 'please go away' and 'woooo' must represent some sort of mental illness or anxiety surely. Really cool detail not going to lie, love the deep hidden meaning of it all
The mental health services in the UK will send you through the same things again and again, realistically with millions of patients these counsellors have no reason to care, they're paid to treat you rather than listen
also the welcome to the world sash he has around him probably signifies how whenever mental illness is brought up some asshat always has to say smth like "that's just adulthood" or "we all feel like this welcome to the real world"
@@idunno3370
I noticed that the bald nurse seems really uncomfortable, tired and anxious.
In the last verse he also says "Everybody on the late night shift. Everybody on the brink of crisis, ain't nobody want to feel like this"
Which makes me think it might also be about the frustration of having limited options to help someone in the medical field as well as the people suffering from the illness itself.
Food for thought, Cheers

1. Simmer 1 cup water and 1 1/2 cups sugar to dissolve the sugar. Cool to room temperature and chill.

Mikayla Potatah “when life gives you lemons....”
Crazy Lady Stone gAsP
Imagine.
Crazy Lady Stone wow, never thought of it like that. even if that isn’t the actual meaning, it’s a damn good one
Mikayla Potatah I made a video out of this. Link to your channel as I used what I sent in the last bit of video!
Well said 👍🏽👍🏽
Sounds right
damn, u right
I really like your take on this but from what I've heard its about how bad free/European Healthcare is and how people in the medical field don't care there
I swear the beginning is like saying “the doctors tell you smoking is bad, but they do it themselves.”
Might be
Doesnt matter tho
Just because a doctor smokes and tells you its bad doesn't make it any better. Its still a really bad habit

I found this when I came to live in London last year and it just captures the feeling I often get here so well.
Oh my God I love this song and this video makes it even better. Love you guys. Keep the good work up.
The music video shows this by pushing the feeling of "I'm in a lot of pain right now, but it's easier to just go along with the ride than to try reaching out to people who are all distracted with their own lives."
The music video also shows the product of that mindset, where he is going with the flow and trying not to pay attention to the present issues and winds up hurting the people around him. This mindset is a great coping mechanism, though, because it essentially seperates yourself from the real world ("I don't need to know what's real or not no more") The song perfectly links the feelings represented by the music video with real authentic thoughts people have when they've "settled in" to their mental illness.
I think it works really well as a mental health metaphor too, this is a good comment, thanks for sharing. 😊
I feel your response, but to me its about putting others before yourself until you got nothing leftto give and crash and burn. And everyone is all "Ohmygod, how could this happen, nobody saw that coming". Best example is the "oh you go ahead get some sleep I'll take the nightshify"

@@Idrisvdp oh yeah? I’m still kinda clueless...
A recognizable voice. I like that a lot

I love how the video is a continuous cycle, which could reference the continuous cycle of life and how do the same thing over and over again each day (school/work) to the point where for some people it becomes a nightmare, and the way his mother leaves his side shows how in life you're not guided and need to find your own way yourself

LYRICS
Who gives a fuck about my nightmares?
'Cause I can barely focus when I'm like this
And lately forty winks would be just priceless
I wrestle with myself and with my vices
But no one gives a fuck about my nightmares
But it's nothin' you should worry yourself about, oh, oh
It's nothin' you should worry yourself about, oh, oh
It's all a bit of fun until somebody gets hurt
I take it with a pinch of salt, another lesson learned
But I don't need to know what's real or not no more
I don't need to know what's real or not no more
Who gives a fuck about my nightmares?
No use in runnin' when they're right there
Face down on my pillow 'cause tonight there's no surprises
You go ahead and get some sleep, I'll take the night shift
No one gives a fuck about my nightmares
But it's nothin' you should worry yourself about, oh, oh
It's nothin' you should worry yourself about, oh, oh
It's all a bit of fun until somebody gets hurt
I take it with a pinch of salt, another bridge is burned
But I don't need to know what's real or not no more
I don't need to know what's real or not no more
Yeah
And now my best friend's bellin' me like
(Hi) hello, (hi) hello, (hi)
What your movements tonight?
Are you feelin' alright?
Should we try get a little bit (high)?
Hello (hello), lemons, (high)
I've never been so tired, and
Lately, I don't feel quite right
But it's nothin' you should worry yourself about, oh, oh
It's nothin' you should worry yourself about, oh, oh
It's all a bit of fun until somebody gets hurt
I take it with a pinch of salt, another lesson learned
But I don't need to know what's real or not no more
I don't need to know what's real or not no more
And everybody on the late night shift
Everybody on the brink of crisis
Ain't nobody wanna feel like this
