Coconut oil! Perfect for cleaning hard water spots, dust and general shine. A teenie tiny amount on a microfibre cloth can clean 30 plants 🙂🪴
How long have you been using it? I was wondering does it mess with the breathing of the plants.
@@steph6337 I’ve been doing this for about 2 years. You really only need a a really small amount, not even 1/4 tsp. So you’re not really smothering the leaves. I thought they would attract more dust because of the oil, but nope! And when you do need to dust them again, you don’t need to use more coconut oil, you can just buff them up. 🙂. Now I have to figure out how to clean the leaves on my prayer plants! 🪴
@@leahwalker9868 Thank you!
My prayer plants I'm terrified to try anything on, lol! I collect rain water only for them and every now and then I sprinkle the leaves.
I've seen people say this for a few years now. And it's always confused me. But I think I'm going to try it!
i tried it and it works amazing! my ficus lyrata (fiddle leaf fig) looks like a prop plant now lol
I love cleaning my plants, it makes me feel like I’m doing something for them ☺️ I’m generally way too aggressive though and end up breaking a leaf 😢 I feel like lennie from of mice and men 😂
This is SO helpful! I feel like my pests are never ending right now! Just dealt with mealybugs and today. I found spider mites UGH! Tomorrow will be a full cleaning day thanks to this video!
i can’t wait to watch! i have such a big fear of bugs, and i know that they just come with plants, but im always searching for affordable ways to manage and deal with pests! thanks for the videos harli, i’ve loved the last few you’ve posted!
I use Diatomaceous Earth for fungus gnats with great results, just mix it into the soil
This video came out at the perfect time! I just cleaned my plants leaves yesterday because of this video!❤️ you’re videos make my day!
perfect timing 🥰 i’m a new plant mom so i love learning new things and especially on how to clean and take care of my plant babies! thank you for this video! very helpful!!
Reading your comment a year later and I'm curious, how is your planty parenting going? New favorite plants? Did you go from no plants to a plant explosion in the past year? Lol
This video motivated me to clean my plants that I’ve been putting off for faaarrrr too long! Great video as always, Harli!
Love the tips! In my 'DIY' cleaning mixture, I use the same ingredients you do but also add neem oil, isopropyl alcohol and/or hydrogen peroxide (in a very diluted/small amount). I'm all about efficiency, so I like including these pest preventative measures in! I haven't damaged any leaves or seen negative affects!
I would only make a small amount of the mixture at a time (each time I'm going to use it) as the alcohol/peroxide loses its potency pretty quickly and doesn't last as long. Won't hurt the plants if you make a big batch and use it over time, just doesn't give as much benefits.
The peroxide and neem would lose effectiveness quickly, not the alcohol. And using isopropyl with an oil is basically reducing the effectiveness from the get go, just fyi. I use a 1:6 70% alcohol to water ratio with a bit of Castile soap as a leaf cleaner if I’m treating an active outbreak to do the cursory clean of the plant after rinsing it off. I always keep a batch mixed up and it never loses potency. Alcohol only really degrades/evaporates if the container isn’t airtight. Then I treat with neem but I hate how quickly neem loses its potency (concentrates in water anyway) I always need more than a gallon for all my plants and then end up making another gallon only for most of it to go to waste. Huge bummer.
It’s like you knew I was neglecting my plants in the cleaning department 😅 thanks so much Harli so much motivation as always 🤩 also ps you are GLOWING Mama ✨
Great video, thanks Harli! I've been working full time since July and definitely notice that my poor plants are showing signs of neglect 😕. Your tips are really useful.

Wonderful video-thank you Also love that your sponsor is a cruelty free, sustainable company! Yes, girl you go- you're the best
They are a really cool brand! I loooove them
Super helpful!! I always love hearing how other people care for their plants and prevent pests. I have heard vinegar works for the hard water spots too!
That would make sense! Anything acidic should work ☺️
Perfectly timed video for me! I have been going through and cleaning plants..
Makes me really sad seeing your Instagram stories about how your videos are doing because I always watch and always love them :(
Great video Harli! I use the shower method too! I prefer to bring my plants to the sink/shower to water so I hose them down and spray neem oil or captain jacks after each watering! It’s such a great preventative measure and I really don’t have pest problems
With cold or warm water?
Thanks for the reminder! 😂😭 It's so satisfying to see how shiny the leaves get after cleaning them. Also, I love your "byes" 😂
You are glowing in this 😍😍😍

Great timing on this video Harli! I definitely just noticed thrips on my syngonium :(
I would have never thought about the lemon juice! That’s really clever. Nothin beats good old soap and neem oil *french kiss*
Oooooo you’re making me nervous to check my plants for pests but excited to clean them all and make ‘em all look nice n shiny 🥲
Cleaning my plants is so relaxing
love the lemon juice hack!! im so nit picky about my leaves looking perfect!!
Great tips! I had to use DE to fight mealy bugs this summer and I’m still trying to get it all off!
I usually put the plants in the shower&spray them off with the shower head and then spray the neem oil and let it sit for a few hours and then spray them with the shower head again, but maybe I’ll start leaving the neem on longer now.☺️ I love your videos and all your tips!❤️

Thanks for the tip Harli! I’m excited to try the lemon water on hard water spots!! In Wisco my water is very hard here n it bothers me so much that the spots don’t go away even after wiping them down 🙄😂
I just said to myself yesterday, “I have to clean my plants soon.” Now I really do!
Thank you for making these videos.

I definitely need to do this!
Hi Harli! These are very helpful tips. Loved the outro, but sorry you woke up the baby! LOL! Thank you so much for sharing!
Thank you for these!
💚💚much needed video
Thank You so very much on the Shower Tip.. Cleaning them Leaf by Leaf was time consuming... Appreciate. 👍🌱🌱🌱
thanks for all the info!
This is perfect timing. I might’ve found some bugs on my pothos. I cut off three leaves that had noticeable white little blobs because I was about to leave and didn’t want it to spread
Thank you for this video!
Thanks for the advice 🥰
I’ve just come from your Twitter, didn’t wanna post on there incase it’s more for your friends and family on there but just wanted to say, the whole video I couldn’t concentrate because you look so BEAUTIFULLY RADIANT! Those glowy cheeks 🔥 Damn girl! ❤️ ps, ignore the haters 😘
Love you sm omg 😂❤️🙏 thank you
Very helpful. Thanks.
Great ideas! You cannot use too much Neem Oil though because it will take out your plant despite it being a very natural alternative. I have used the spray the plants in the shower method or outside during the summer with a gentle spray. In the shower be careful not to get soil or plant leaves in your drain.....:)
I’ve never seen neem oil harm a plant. Does it really?
Other than leaf burn I mean
Cool... Thank You.. 👍🌱
i'm genuinely the WORST at cleaning my plants, they get so dusty. this video is a good reminder to give them a wash when i get home from work!
Great tips! Love the ending the best 😆😂
This is soo helpful thank you soo much:)
Great tips!
Wow Amazing and informative tips
😂😂😂 The ending! Thanks for a great video.
Great video Harley, Loved, loved, loved the ending! Rotf Lmbo 🤣😂🤣
Great information
Thanks so much,my friend
Happy Holidays from Jordan The Middle East
I rinse my plants, treat with Azamax, then spray with insecticidal soap mixed with neem oil and orange essential oil to cut down the smell. I only water every 4-6 weeks cuz this takes at least a week for get through all my plants.
You’re STILL glowing ⚡️✨✨✨✨
Thank you! I think it's the lighting though haha
I never thought about it. But the lemon juice actually makes a lot of sense. One way to clean hard water off an aquarium is using ph down, an aquarium water additive. Because it lowers ph, it’s essentially a fish safe acidic solution. Citric acid is obviously also an acid. So it makes a of sense that an acid would work on plants too. Great tip 💡
Thank you lots of good advice
This is motivational. I need to clean most of my plants 😅
My toxic trait is I will watch this and still be too lazy to clean / treat my plants 🤪
I love the 1st way of cleaning that's the only way i've ever done it 🤫
Love the byes :)
Ooo i love this video 🤩
🤣🤣🤣 so funny!! Thanks for all the tips!! You never disappoint and my jungle Thanks you too😊
I found the hard water removal advise to be Uber helpful! Thank u!!! Not to laugh at you…. But…. That ending tho!! 🤣🤣🤣 funny!
Thanks!! ive heard that comercial "shine" products tend to clog plant pores and can cause issues so more natural alternatives are so much better :D
Living in AZ I have such a hard time with hard water. The high calcium in the water just is 👎👎. (But I guess that’s why the cactus love it🤷🏼♀️) anyways these tips and tricks are great. I really need to inspect some of my plants as I fear I may have a pest outbreak again so yeah. Time to get up and personal with my plants. 😬
Have you tried them? I want to know too because I get hardwater stains on my plants
Very good
Thanks 4 the tips, I have had a few minor issues with hard water marks & I feel like I'm rubbing the leaves thinking trying 2 remove them! Love ur channel! 💞
I shower my plants! I dread the big ones haha they are just hard to move around.
I will have to give the lemon and water a try. I have a few plants that I can’t get the hard water spots off. Got to love Utahs hard water.
Sorry haven’t watched videos we’ve been busy! Time to bing!
Excellent
Cleaning my plant was the only way I managed to get rid of thrips. Surprised they went away that easy but eco oil helped a lot!
THE ENDING 😂😭
Thanks for the tips, time for me to get cleaning 😂
Omg your skin looks amazing. Can you please share your skincare routine and make up? 🥺🥰
Yes I will on my second channel, which is linked in the description! My first video is actually about my skincare routine!
& thank you!
Good info! How do you deal with the sticky sap from the philodendrons?
I use the same method as your mom but for General house cleaning to get rid of hard water spots is vinegar you can even put it in your laundry as a fabric softener like if you have too much Suds in your clothes it will take it out I'm not sure how much I just poured in
Well I was having a rough day......🖤Until I saw the ending.
I've recently bought a bunch of cut pothos leaves to propagate in a jar of water. Within a few days, I'm noticing some tiny holes here & there. There's also some minimal browning on the edge of the leaves. Everywhere I search, websites are mentioning pests, overwatering, underwatering, sunburn, etc. The thing is... it's in a jar of water so is there such a thing as overwatering when propagating? & I leave it by a window that gets medium amount of indirect light that shouldn't be so damaging to the plant. I haven't fertilized it yet since it's winter but I'm planning on adding some leca that I ordered once it arrives. I also use filtered water so there shouldn't really be anything harming the plants. Do I have pests?
What essential oils do you use in your soap mixture? ❤️
