@@officer401 Would love to see a 360° surround view camera become the norm (180° camera one each front and back of plate carrier, combined in software), with an "officer's attention" high-res camera as a second channel (something like an over the ear camera so it doesn't get obstructed with gear or defensive stance). It would give more context that way, and make post-incident reconstruction easier.
@@officer401 grow the beard out at least an inch
You must not watch police activity lolol
@@truneighborhoodwatchtnw2127 fortunately, the wider angle the lens, the less total energy gets collected, and since most officers don't sit in one place for days on end that energy will get spread around the imager.
Back in the 2000's, I used to install CCTV systems commercially. There was an imager company that got bought by Sony a few years ago called Pixim, who had developed a per-pixel automatic gain control (AGC) that would adjust the amplifier of each pixel to control the rate at which the photons created a charge in the pixel's input, I'm guessing that Sony rolled that technology into their Pregius imagers the get their >115dB dynamic range (difference between brights and shadows) parts cameras prior to that tech rarely saw >80dB.
A good switchable IR cut filter and a high-pass UV blocking filter lens with a circular polarizer will take out most of the solar artifacts, but a sun visor will keep the sun from peaking the whites or blinding the imager from lens flares - remember a 360° camera is in the context of horizontal viewing angle, most law enforcement needs probably don't need >+15° and >-45° vertical. So those you'd either use those pixels within the field of view for better resolution (with more of a cylindrical lens), or not record extra pixels saving compression time and storage space (with a more spherical lens).

Are Axon cameras and services available to the public?
@@reginaldsmith6949 I’m not too sure. I’ve only had experience with them with Law Enforcement. With all the services and setup required to get it going I would say probably not, but there may be some private security companies that can get a hold of them
The body cam has footage of a crime being committed. The supervisor would be immediately fired from any civilian job for assaulting an employee and the police would be called to see if charges should be filed by the victim. In the military, the officer would be brought up on charges for assault. At the very least, that supervisor should be fired.
The supervisor needs to be arrested for assault.
Keep the beard that shit is firrre.

The cloud streaming feature of the new bodycams is really cool! It could come in handy if you want to get context of a scene before you show up.

Seems like the cops that get promoted go on these power trips like they can do anything they want. At least now they are holding them accountable. They have busted a few sheriffs that were actually arrested.
Yeah, the military is the same way. Some people get stripes and it immediately goes to their head. Some people just get progressively more power-crazed the higher up they go. The problem is that institutions like the Police and Armed Forces have a bias towards the ranking individual, so unless you have a witness high enough up the chain, some real evidence, or a stellar reputation, any complaints get dismissed out of hand.

Lt: I may have broke the law but he wasn’t supposed to record me.
That supervisors past cases/interactions should be brought into question. If he's this way to a cop then how does he treat the citizens??
Agreed. If you're willing to lay hands on a subordinate over something as petty as being late to work, no matter how often he's late, then you should also be investigated for prior complaints of unnecessary roughness or excessive force used when interacting with the public citizenry... At this point, the complaints may not be just people getting angry and trying to get the officer in trouble out of malice.
The complaints could very well be legitimate concerns of an officer abusing the authority granted him by the municipal power governing the particular precinct/department.

That was foul Lt did that, cams work wonders, I turned mine on as someone was threatening me with a weapon and so I had evidence of him if he pulls out a concealed, he was going to have a bad day. We had the same policy in South Georgia. Body worn cameras could not be activated when at headquarters or while speaking to a supervisor.
Your explanation about the rules for body camera activation is a little bogus. It's not about recording sensitive footage inside a police building and not all body camera footage is available as a public record. Take it from me as I've probably worked with the public records division and requested more body camera footage that just about anyone you know.
The public records people are responsible for redacting anything that should not be released to the public, this includes private officer conversations a lot of the time. So sensitive information is supposed to be scrubbed by the public records people.
The rules about recording other officers or supervisors were probably written into the policy at the request of the union or contract.
Probably a little tiny loophole meant to protect the "good ol' boys" and their asshattery shenanigans. To ensure that repercussions befall officers if they try to keep integrity up as they're always berated about from the top down.
This is the type of action that actually upholds the Blue Line.
I’m a commercial drone pilot in CA and would regularly get intimidated into quitting my drone location due to complaints even though it was legal. Exactly I like it because it also protect Officer's from Criminals lying and protect the Officer from Phony complaint or phony lawsuit.
You had me in the first 3 mins till you came up with the “filming in the police station shouldn’t be done” lol it’s a public building with a public lobby. If there is anything sensitive or a witness take it to a non-sensitive room and the witness to a interrogation room. But filming in a police station is not illegal. Let’s clear that up
Filming in the lobby of a police department is much different than the back door entrance, hallways, and rooms where the sensitive areas are and officers go. I'm not saying filming in a public building should not be allowed, I'm saying the areas the public is restricted from accessing should not be filmed. There's a big difference.
@@officer401 fair enough. I didn’t realize this was in the back side. But In this circumstance I could say it’s a little diff. The officer was trying to catch his LT in the act to use for further evidence.
