I think it’s important for people to shift away from “what you want your body to look like” towards more of “what you want your body to be capable of”.

Not exactly... because if your goal his bodybuilding you only care how your body look like, not that you can do a backflip, snatch or handstand walk... However you can try to balance your body looks with what you can do

Body building is specifically meant to enhance the look of someone’s physique while having a nice physique is just a side effect of doing cross fit. If the goal is to look better I’d recommend body building, if the goal is to be more physically fit, strong, and fast than cross fit is the way

If you are guy who want to workout just for looks then bodybuilding. If want mobility, strenght then crossfit. If want to be super strong then strongman. Powerlifting is good but lesser version of strongman because you will workout to do 3 exercises better but in strongman your lift variations are more so powerlifting is good for egolifting in the gym but strongman is better for overall strenght. If want all thing but at moderate level then crossfit but be aware that some movements need practice alot otherwise you can easily injure yourself.

I think you risk getting misunderstood here. What he meant is, apply bodybuilding principles (i.e. progressive overload) to your training style and it will definitely build muscle, not saying that crossfit wont build or is less effective than bodybuilding

Bodybuilder: can lift heavier objects, slow, low endurance.. probably less flexible.. less cardiovascularly fit.
Crossfiter: can lift less heavy, fast, high endurance.. more flexible .. cardiovascularly better
That is generally, special cases may be there.

Just wanted functional fitness and to get stronger to hoop.. respect tho regardless because I understand what it takes in the gym for the body builders..
