      Oh hell yeah. There's a comic somewhere I read where at some point he loses his shit at someone and proves to him that he can basically always beat them because he's faster, smarter, stronger. That he literally pulls every punch against his villians cos he's aware how powerful he is. Wish I could remember where I read it though!

    Spider-Man was always strong af. In the "superior Spider-Man," when Doc Ock takes over Pete's body, he is absolutely furious when he realizes how strong Parker really is and how weak he was in comparison. In all those years of fighting, Parker could have ended his life with a single punch at any time - but he never did.
    Peter's whole thing is holding back, trying to diffuse situations and persuading people with words.

      But i do however dislike the fact that they tend to change all the heroes and villains powers around just to suit one kind of story.
      There are Bad guys in the spiderverses that are stronger and faster than spiderman. And instead their weakness is hubris.

    See, THIS is a proper depiction of Spider-Man, not like the recent run (Zeb Wells). He's a skilled fighter with a brilliant, unconventional and cunning mind able to outwit and outmaneuver experienced heroes. At the same time, he's friendly, tries to resolve things peacefully and is incredibly insightful and as such, doesn't get caught up in typical villain tricks.
    It's like in Astonishing X-Men, when the world was almost destroyed by a giant bullet and all the heroes were caught in an illusion of them saving the world. Peter was the only one to realize something was off and broke free.
    Edit: What's depressing is that if they'd done the whole MJ stuck in another dimension properly, they could have had her pregnant with Mayday or Anna-May and then brought her into the 616 comics as a 4 or 3-year old, thus fixing OMD entirely, change the status quo and create SO many writing possibilities

      @Gomu Gomu No Omu I meant the Zeb Wells. I enjoyed the Nick Lowe one since it allowed Peter to grow as a character, mostly canceled out One More Day, got him and MJ back together into a strong, meaningful relationship and generally felt as though he was moving forward in life.
      ... And then Wells basically undid all of that, made all the heroes dislike and distrust him. Also, the reason it happened just felt like the character once again regressed into an impulsive rookie making stupid decisions, or just creating drama for the sake of drama by having the heroes get in the way of him rescuing MJ. No way them verifying his identity and story should take more than an hour or two).
      The funny thing is that if they'd done the whole MJ stuck in another dimension properly, they could have had her pregnant with Mayday and then brought her into the 616 comics as a 4 or 3-year old, thus fixing OMD entirely, change the status quo and create SO many writing possibilities

    • @darthwiizius
      @darthwiizius Рік тому +12

      Spidey's feats of strength alone are only beaten by the top tier characters in that regard he just doesn't do them often because he holds back due to guilt. It's alluded to in the MCU in the scene where Stark plays the recording of him catching and holding a flying car (a classic standard for Spidey in the 70s) when he says "3000lbs travelling 30MPH, that's not easy" and of course by the shock on Bucky's face when this kid overpowers him easily when he catches his punch, or even when Cap drops a freaking walkway on him, something that would crush cap into a splodge on the concrete.

    Loved this fight! Spider-Man was playing "4D chess" throughout and arguably didn't "defeat" any single one of the Avengers individually -- but that wasn't his goal in the first place. He didn't even try to land a hit on She-Hulk or Thor. On Captain Marvel and Iron Man, he just needed to freak her out and slow him down, respectively. And then he even laid a "just in case" boobytrap for the villain on the off chance he couldn't trust *himself*. Pete's humility at the start was real, as he had no illusions about his ability to solo the Avengers. But that same humility made him plan ahead, know his limitations and respect his opponents' strengths, and allowed him to pull one of the most amazing, spectacular games of "tag" in Marvel history and come out the winner.
