    Seeing the same game side by side vs an IPS is ridiculous. I can actually see colors and features in the darkest areas while on the IPS it's just a gray fog.

    I had this monitor for about a week now. I have to say, coming from 240hz 1440p Odyssey G7 that is a VA, it took me a little while getting used to this monitor because of its different pixel structure and vividness. I still have my g7 on the side and I notice that the Samsung shows quite a lot more physical detail/ sharpness on textures but that could just be Samsung's upscaling. I think it's really good. Another thing is that the Samsung G7 has ever so slightly less motion blur, despite having a little ghosting. As i said though, 3 days or so, and I'm absolutely hooked on the Asus. I think I'm actually getting better with it than the Samsung. It is more consistent when you're in a chaotic in game situation, like too many enemies running at you. It feels more precise and predictable. But as I said, compared to the Samsung, this monitor has noticeable motion blur, and you might be wanting to reconsider getting this if you already have a high end samsung monitor. I know so many people have questions about OLEDS right now and I think VA is closest to it when it comes to picture quality, so if anyone wants to know anything feel free to ask!

      Do they still have burn in problems?

      @@aligenc659 OLED is most worrysome when it comes to burn in, yes. Is this what you mean? I haven't got any yet, thankfully. But it is too early to tell what will happen. I am doing my best to avoid it by using my VA monitor unless i'm playing a game. I have no desktop icons or taskbar and there is nothing on the monitor unless im playing. I've gone as far as to make all my ingame hud icons smaller and transparent as well

      hows the motion clarity on the VA I heard it has motion blur issues at high refresh rates

    • @thedeleted117
      @thedeleted117 Рік тому

      @@BlGASH usually VA does indeed have some motion blur but mainly it typically has really bad ghosting. However the Odyssey G7 is top of the line 1440p, 240hz monitor and its ghosting is near to unnoticeable. And as I said, its perceived motion clarity is very close to (if not slightly better) than the OLED.
      Motion clarity / motion blur vs ghosting are two different things. You can have clear motion while still having ghosting and you can still have no ghosting but terrible motion blur. It's quite an interesting subject but a frustrating one.. if you don't mind the tiniest bit of ghosting when dragging objects around the screen at high speed i highly recommend the g7 240hz. You basically won't see it in games at all, and the motion blur is basically non-existent. It is really, really pleasant to play anything on the G7. I have used it for over 2 years and I've never been disappointed what so ever.
      If you go for a lower end VA, I can't guarantee you'll have the same results, though. Before the Odyssey, I had a midrange VA (also Samsung) that ran at 1440p/144hz and its ghosting was pretty abysmal (at least in comparison) so I would definitely spend more money than (i think it was around £250 at the time for the 144hz display) So you definitely want to spend a little more than that if you want a good monitor. This was 3 years ago or longer though, so now that prices for better monitors should be quite a bit better

      Also just to edit my original comment a bit since I've learned a lot about the OLED since, the whole 'physical detail' part isn't particularly true after all. While Samsung does use quantum dot upscaling tech, the OLED shows almost as much detail, but it depends on what Shadow boost setting you use, since if you turn off this feature completely, the in-game textures will look pretty much identical to the Samsung Odyssey.
      @BIGASH - to answer your question about high refresh rates motion blur, I would go as far as saying that the higher refresh rates you hit with this particular VA screen, the less blur you'll experience. If for some reason however you're playing a low frame rate game like 50-100 fps on this screen, you're bound to see more motion blur. This screen performs exceptionally well in anything higher than that and I can guarantee you wouldn't be disappointed, especially if you're coming from a 120hz/144hz screen
