(Link is not working now.) This video is worth its weight in Gold. So you lost a bit less than you think. As for the kerbing, that could have been a bigger loss if the car was leased. And you have the £500 which was honoured when you purchased the car. Worth all of the £200 for Flaviana, too! Look at her face. 😀👍 A pretty good deal, I'd say. Well done, and thanks to both of you for the video. 🙂
Flaviana's face when you handed over the money Andy, absolute classic !. It was like she had won the Lotto. To be fair, she was confident from day one, that the money was already in her wallet.
I LOVE your wife! She so refreshingly, honestly catty! UA-cam is filled with bubbly, saccharine sweet, wives, especially here in America. Her reaction to you purchasing a car that didn’t have a back wiper blade…in the UK was priceless!
That ending is worth £200 all by itself 🤣 Can't put my finger on what's changed but I've gone from loving the vids to laughing out loud and even crying with laughter at them. Brilliant - and loved the intro btw, very arty.
Wow, cars usually lose thousands the moment you drive off the forecourt, you've scored big time. Well worth the 200 quid pay out. In fact, your wife adds thousands in value to your site, you two make a great team.
Brilliant outro, Flaviana sure knows how to party! I think you've done extremely well only losing a few hundred on it. The general wisdom is that new cars lose thousands the moment you drive them off of the forecourt so despite the loss, I'd count it as a win. Looking forward to some new videos, would love a roadtrip series in the Ioniq 5! Dream car.
Great videa. The ending was absolutely hilarious and completely brilliant. Mind you, as all of her many fans know, *anything* featuring the wonderful Mrs EV is always completely brilliant. Thanks!
Well Flaviana had a good time eh?! 😄 Fascinating seeing the chap fix the alloy... I did have visions of him turning around and finding a cat asleep in front of that heater though 😂 Glad to see you honoured the bet, great vid!
Prices are all over the place at the moment. I’m selling my 2yr old ICE (Merc GLC) to get an EV. I’ve been offered (by Motorway and WBAC) a price that is just £2k less than I bought it for new 2yrs ago. So it’s not just EVs that are holding their value at the moment. Strike while the market is hit…👍
Lets be honest, if it wasn't for the completely doolally times we're in, you'd have lost by a hell of a lot more, even for an EV - but well done. I bet you're avidly watching AT for it reappearing to see what price they're trying to sell it at !! (edit: should have watched all the video before commenting!!)
I should be uplifting my new 500e in the next few days. I was going to opt for a proper hot hatch to replace my warmish Twingo GT but your previous video encouraged me to take an extended test drive of the Fiat and I was immediately sold on a BEV. I take your wife's point about "small cars for rich people" but I think the Fiat is worth every penny and it has exactly the same dimensions as the Twingo - ideal for my small garage!
The wad. "He's not seeing that again.". In the EV channel culture of tedious 30 something men bean counting range, evangelist rant-fests and superficial tedium, this channel is so refreshing and real.
@Andrew, I wanted to tell you that in a way, your were correct on your comment “ not paying tax on an EV” This is because of salary sacrifice leasing schemes. Currently, under government guidelines, you can lease a car for 24/36/48 months and the money comes off BEFORE tax. Add the fact that BIK is zero and you are getting the car tax free. What I have not worked out is - if you decided to buy the car from the scheme after your term, how much does that bring the car down to ? And if we assume your leasing a car =< 35K, there’s a further 2.5K there too ? That would be an interesting calculation. I don’t know how much leasing companies are making so if we say you bought an EV cash from a dealer versus did it through salary sacrifice who would pay the most over say 2-3 years ?
Funny stuff, thanks for sharing. Our car dealerships here have nothing on their lot either. TFL did a show where they were discussing the huge markups on new cars and non-running private sale cars fetching huge premiums.
Andrew with all the recent rises to utility charges would you ask the lovely Flaviana if she could negotiate a new energy deal for all your subscribers.
Glad you got most of your money back but these are crazy times - my 5 year old diesel is now worth £2k more than it was in April, my wife’s 9 year old petrol car is now worth £500 more than in April.
My neighbour took delivery of a new RR sport last month, after a long wait. The dealer rang him the other day offering a $10k extra buy back. That's how crazy the current situation is downunder.
How did you do Andrew? Brilliantly I"d say. Your wife is both beautiful and awesomely fearsome! Great episode that had me laughing out loud. Epic! You guys really must do a UA-cam channel together!
Here in Costa Rica where I live, a 2017 Fiat 500E costs $15,500 which was the same top dollar as it costed 5 years ago. In terms of currency depreciation in Costarican Colones, it appreciated in value 25% from 5 years ago. My 2012 Volvo S60 T4 has a residual value of $9,000.” If I’m lucky!

Brilliant!!! The used car thing is really interesting. I have a Honda Jazz on PCP (just over a year to go). I still have my itch to go EV. Got the car valued on WBAC in May. £13,500. Did it again in July - £13,750. Offered it to Cazoo a few days ago. £16,250! It is very low mileage but even so. Unprecedented times at the moment. It won't last but EV prices will remain strong for some time as we get nearer to 2030.
market at the moment isn’t a good reflection of ‘normal’ deprecation - and neither is selling a car so soon anyway, not something most of us would do. But still an interesting and entertaining video.
Great video thanks. I'm in the process of selling my Tesla model 3 performance now 2 years old for a new Model 3 LR. When I ordered my performance back in May 2019 it was £ 51k. I am now selling it for £ 48k! I put a 20k deposit on the performance with monthly payments of £ 600 on HP to own the car after 5 years ( still 3 years remaining) no pcp was available when I bought the car. The new Model 3 is 15k down with 4years payments at £ 450 on pcp with 12k back in my bank once I settle the hp balance. Picking the new car up next week really looking forward to it. Every time I drive this car it puts a smile on my face and its so easy to live with and awesome family car. The wife loves it which is a bonus. My previous car was a 2017 BMW m3. Cost 60k and only run it for 18 months. Only got 32k back for that car😬 cost me a bob or two.
Long range EVs will have low depreciation for the next 3-5 years because battery size and design will not significantly change in this period. Same as they didn’t change much in the last 5 years. Only wish we changed to EV sooner.
Great video love the opening and the look on your face when you had to hand the money over and flaviana gloating was funny I think flaviana should feature in more videos as you bounce off each other great looking forward to more 👍🏻
At the moment EVs don't depreciate much, this will be true in the shortish term. Some people are calculating the feasibility of the car based on high residual values, at some point it will bite them on the bum . I think it will be this way for a few more years yet
Not too bad, but with the £500 extra would make it £1100 for a few months, still ok compared to some cars that lose a big percentage soon as you drive it off forecourt.
🤣🤣😂🤣 Absolutely hilarious. I couldn't stop laughing at Flavianas glee and the contrast between your dead pan demeanor. Definitely a good sale outcome, you could have been tied into a lease deal which would have cost you big style.
Interesting content, and of course the debates with your family. Hope to see more EVs on the roads, and have noticed more in my town Herne Bay of late 👍
I love our Leaf ('16 30Kwh Techna), it's now the least glamourous electric car on the road BUT, it's built like a brick out house and, really speaking, does everything we need. Admitedly, we don't really go much further away from Canters than Thanet but it's bought and paid for and, looking back on the deal we got, great value for money! I really can't justify doing the whole PCP, loan, kids inheritance to upgrade it! But being a Nissan, it'll see me out :-)
First off: great video! Second: You took a great risk trying to sell an almost new car, and you were very lucky to have only a loss of 700 pounds in 3 months. I experienced more or less the same problem: I had a 3 year old Opel Ampera E to sell when I bought my Ionic 5 project 45. The Ampera E in 2018 cost € 48.000 including winter tires and tow hook. After 3 months on AT finally only one buyer was willing to pay € 20.000 for it. That is € 28.000 depreciation in 3 years! Then we decided to keep the car a a second car. In my experience ev's depreciate just as quick as ice-vehicles. The reason for that is that technology and prices of new ev's change also very quick. So I expect the Ionic to depreciate about € 10.000 the first year. It is a great car though. No regrets on that decision!
Ouch - that is painful. Where are you based? Supply of EVs to the UK seems quite constrained so I think that could have an affect on keeping used prices artificially high.
I have a question. I am thinking of buying an ID.4, selling in about 3 years. I am assuming the chip shortage will be over by then. But also that EV technology, in particular battery technology, will advance quite a bit. That suggests a large loss of value. But then again, EV's might still be in short supply if the move from ICE-Vs to EVs accelerates. So, buy or lease?
Good question! Firstly, yes, the chip shortage should be over by then. As for battery technology, I don't believe it's going to advance very much in three years. There's the continual promise of solid state batteries of course, which apparently will be undergoing testing next year and will have reached market in 2025 if BMW are to be believed. Even when that happens, I have a feeling the yield will be slow initially and BMW will probably just put them in the most expensive cars. For that reason, I think you'd be relatively safe buying an ID.4. However! We don't know what's going to happen with the Chinese brands. If any of them manage to flood the market with cheap EVs, that may bring the overall prices down a bit. I do think you'd be fairly safe with a VW though as it's a respected brand, and given so many people want EVs, I think prices will remain high for a long time to come.
@@MrEV this sounds spot on to me. There will only be marginal gains around current battery technologies for the next 5 years I reckon. As 2030 approaches EV sales volumes will clearly rise sharply and that should drive prices down. But that will probably be from 2028..

Market conditions crazy at the moment, my wife has been waiting over three weeks for an " in stock" Corsa e to be delivered. Apparently it's at the docks and there's no transport!🤯
Good morning, I do really enjoy your videos and I have learnt a lot from them. I know it is not related to this video in particular and I do apologise in advance but I would like to as how come that sometimes you charged for free on Ionity during your challenges. Is it coincidence or a glitch with the unit. Thanks again.
That was a nice video your wife is very entertaining :) I had never seen the little Fiat e before we don't have it here in Canada it is very cute what was your reason for selling it ? . Thanks for posting the video tale care stay safe .
It was only ever going to be a temporary car until the IONIQ 5 came out. We used to have a Fiat 500 so I thought it'd be fun to have the electric one for a bit. I wish we could have kept it but they're not cheap!
Sorry Andrew you'll have to have Flaviana in every video going into the future. Her facial expressions are amazing and made me giggle at many times as you talked about the car and such and selling the Fiat. But maybe safer to have transferred the money electronically, wouldn't be the same thing I know but after Covid amazing you are still using cash at all. I hardly used it before but even less so now and many shops have a preference for electronic payment via card/touch pay. Hopefully if Flaviana is willing to be in your videos of course.
You may be wondering why we got the Fiat 500e in the first place. Watch this episode for some background on the reasons (and the bet!) ua-cam.com/video/oGnHR_HDwVY/v-deo.html
Think he should drive past or look on the dealer website for the car. but I bet he already has some one willing to pay £1000 more than he paid him for it
10:51 I see why Flaviana has that giant smile on her face, she’s flashing a lot of Pound notes in front of a hot 🥵 young waiter, who is hopefully a gigolo! You have done it again by giving us an extraordinary video and we really appreciate it.

Market conditions crazy at the moment, my wife has been waiting over three weeks for an " in stock" Corsa e to be delivered. Apparently it's at the docks and there's no transport!🤯
How very typical. You should see the lines at American Ports and the backlogs in China. It's nuts.
Perhaps the best would have been for you to arrange to go to the docks yourselves and pick it up.
Sold my Ford puma on motorway after 4 months for £800 more than I paid for it.
Flaviana counts every bill. Nothing like trust in a healthy relationship.
Oh that closing montage 😂😂
The only thing that is missing is the reason. Why did sell it/buy it in the first place?
The reasons are explained (I think!) in this vid: ua-cam.com/video/oGnHR_HDwVY/v-deo.html
I'm surprised you lost so much. I sold my id3 after 9 months to wbac and made 2k on it.
Yes, sometimes they make them free if either that unit or the whole site is a bit unstable.
As soon as I seen you at the cash point, oh dear, brilliant 😂. I enjoy your vlogs informative and funny.
Keep it up you and flaviana👍
Another great video. 👍🇬🇧
Did you try Wizzle.? totally free.!! you set the price and dealers bid (a bit like ebay)
Love that italian accent of her!. Looks like she is the boss :)) love the videos! i lost 6k in 1 year for my peugeot e208GT
I’m confused into why you sold it. Guess I’ll have to watch previous videos for an explication maybe? 🤔
In the end, it turned out well but I can't still understand how somebody could consider the Fiat 500 a family car :-) :-)
Without a doubt your Leaf was the best value car you've bought.
Watch this episode for some background on the reasons (and the bet!)

£26400 amazing really. Guess that dealer really wanted it.
Think he should drive past or look on the dealer website for the car.
but I bet he already has some one willing to pay £1000 more than he paid him for it
@@davidsworld5837 Or more to beat waiting list.
I think that was a pretty good deal all in all. I little risky but a good call on your part. The intro was excellent. 👍👍
Nice editing (and shooting) skills
10:51 I see why Flaviana has that giant smile on her face, she’s flashing a lot of Pound notes in front of a hot 🥵 young waiter, who is hopefully a gigolo!
You have done it again by giving us an extraordinary video and we really appreciate it.
Great video again
If you'd held on it might be worth even more. We are living in very strange times.
