- This is the first time this 1988 CBR600 has ran in over 15 Years!
Skip to 2:57 to see it start!
After talking to the friend that gave me the donor bike after starting it he said that it's actually been at least 15 years since it ran! I was always under the impression that it was 10 years! But even better!
Thank you. I've got a 1974 CB360 that was driven by its original owner for 2000 miles. He dropped it and scratched the side lights. So in July of 1974, its been sitting. I searched for someone to just show me about carbs but I kept finding guys who told me how great of a mechanic they are !!! I'm super excited to start this rebuild.
That’s awesome that you got your hands on that! And I think you could probably learn everything about carbs off UA-cam and some google searches and messing with one in your bike! No need to listen to someone talk about how great they are lol hope your rebuild goes great!
Congrats bro. I haven't heard my 2000 yzf r1 start up since 2010 and my 1999 zrx1100 start since 2008 and my 1995 ex500 start since 2005 and currently in 2021 all 3 are in my garage.🥺
I own one of these. Bought it brand new as a teenager. Been sitting now for 5 years. Now I'm inspired. I think with battery, new oil, new gas, filters, and plugs, I can do it! I'm not a mechanically inclined person, but you have given me the inspiration. BTW, great job on your project.
You don’t have to be mechanically inclined to start working on stuff! Experience makes you mechanically inclined, I’m sure you’ll have it all good to go in no time! And thanks!
Wow really enjoyed it when it started amazing feeling
Ive got an 05 cbr125 bought as a project thats been sitting from the start of covid with fuel in the tank im going to try this today and see if i can find life in it!
Please continue! I will get me One of these and need to learn alot! Keep it going!
I will keep it going for sure! Just need to get some money together to continue the build!
Right on man. Thats awesome and for sitting that long it sounds pretty good!
Thanks man! And yeah I was surprised honestly!
To bad you did not have a beer to celebrate with. But, what the hell, you can celebrate now!!🙂👍
Very True!
It didn’t sound too bad. Nice job.
Thanks! Yeah should sound better in the future for sure haha
It's ALIVE!!!!! good job man
Thanks man!!
Such a good feeling. Congrats.
Oh man it was! And thanks!

Haha I’d love to do that man!
@@MaximMotorcycles did you ever finish it?
Just picked up a 98 zx11, it’s been sitting for 12 years lol I don’t even know where to start
Hell yeah! congrats man!
Thanks man!!
Congrats man and Merry Christmas!
Thanks buddy, and Merry Christmas to you too!!
im getting ready to start getting my 1997 Honda CBR 900RR back on the road after 5 year of sitting. My question...did you put a little oil in the cylinders first?
I didn't, but I should of!
great job i got a quesstion. i have a GS 1100 E Suzuki 1982. its been sitting for 15 years. I have had a great mechanic do miracles on it for 7 months he has had it. it is running strong and screaming power. however, he advised me to open it up on the road to clear out the carbon on the valves because of it sitting so long. my question is, is there any product besides octane boost that will help melt the build up off the valves so it will be 100 %. let me know, anybody
Hi. Curious to know what he did to get it running again as i have the same bike and in similar predicament. Was any major components changed or all the original engine parts used?
Did you have to do anything to the cylinders or rings? Did you spray any wD-40 in cylinders? Just asking cause Im picking a kz 1000 with 18000kms and has been sitting 6yrs in doors.
And you got it working I got one need to know what do for no damage cylinders
I would definitely put a small amount of oil in the cylinders and let it sit for a day before starting if you want to be safe. I never did though. As soon as the engine starts turning over itll pick up oil
I'm going to try a 50 50 mix of acetone and atf. As guys have said let it soak a day or 2 then take plugs out. put in gear with back wheel off the ground and gently rotate back and forth till its moving smoothly. We'll that's what I intend doing. Not going to use the starter as I feel that's too harsh
Con-fuck-ulations!! That is awesome! You must be so happy. If you ever need to get a restock on your Budweiser supply just hit me up. I can help make that happen.
Oh man, I've never been happier! Definitely a huge achievement! And well I definitely need restocks every now and then hahaha do you know someone ?
Maxim Motorcycles Yep I know a guy. Never without a beer in his fridge.
Lol this sounds interesting. What type of cost??
Maxim Motorcycles lol very little depending on the time.
Well I’m very interested in learning more about this haha
How is it running without the gas tank ???
Just enough fuel in the lines lol
How much cost to get registration and tags for a bike whit out on 15 years
Not sure yet
@@MaximMotorcycles yes lost money
I’ll worry about that when I get there. The main thing is bringing the bike back to life. I’m still in contact with the original owner. So I’ll make it work.
