Cross-Collar Choke (BJJ/Judo/Jiu-Jitsu) from Butterfly Guard: Important Finishing Details

BJJ Cross Collar Choke from Butterfly Guard: while technically a strangle, the "cross choke" (or jujijime) is one of the most versatile and threatening attacks in all of jiu-jitsu. It relies on the proper setting of the first hand in the collar, a grip which seems easy enough to establish in drilling but which often presents problems with a resisting partner. To set the grip well, you'll need the assistance of your secondary hand to get the right amount of slack in the lapel.
Once the first hand is set, the challenge becomes setting the second hand. Although there are plenty of placements for it, a knowledgeable partner won't make any of them easy :) In this setup, we use a tried-and-true method for bringing their head down to us - kazushi. With the help of some off-balancing, we can access the second grip and lock the strangle up properly. Finally, we look at some important details on head position to help you make your cross-choke as efficient and as powerful as possible.
