Thanks for sharing, we used to spend holidays in Derbyshire when I was little and some of the best memories were riding the trains on this gorgeous railway.
Interesting! My great-great grandfather on my mother's side came from Matlock. He was an ironworker, but I have no ides what that entailed. He was a blacksmith here, sold stationary steam engines and ran a stagecoach stop.
This line used to be part of the Midland Railway's Main Line from London to Manchester. It WAS double track throughout but was closed beyond Matlock by BR in 1968 and the remainder singled. The line is now served by local DMU's between Derby and Matlock. The former down platform at Matlock that you say is blocked is used by Peak Rail heritage line services.
Note the cheapo painted distant- signal on a board at 1.28: the last one I saw was beside the track near the approach to Dinting Viaduct on the Hadfield-Manchester line.
dutchy777 moderns sets do feature led or hid lights which are better, but they can’t be angled up to high for the sake of oncoming trains. Much like dipped beams on a car. Plus with light signals and audible warnings, and no suicyclists or pedestrians to dodge. It’s just not as critical. Stopping distances are also so long. Even with High powered lights by the time the driver has seen an obstruction. Chances are he’s going to hit it.

Travelled this route many times in the 50's and 60's on the way to Bakewell. Wish they would extend it into the Peak District and on to Millers Dale.
Great video. Those wipers would seriously bother me if I were the driver 🤣
Great video, a delightful little stretch of railway, you can see what work went into building it
many childhood memories , love trains

Bullettube ,.
I was born and raised here and still haven't left!
Interesting how the first platform was single, and the tunnels were built for double track, then the last station had one track blocked.

@@12crepello I was looking for the Peak Rail train 😀 There is some serious growth on the railway. I bet the Peak Rail section is much better.

Brilliant video!
What unit is this?
the lights do not illuminate very far in front of the train do they? wonder why they are not like full beams on a car

That wiper is annoying.
