@@ajwilliamsmedia I haven't really used the film emulation yet, i got it primarily for its hallation, bloom and false color effects. Esp. the false color, it's so simple but surprisingly no one has implemented this afaik. But i will definitely give film emulation a try on personal projects later.
Nice work sir. I wondered if you were only adding the film emulation and leaving all other tools unchecked here? Ive been using Dehancer for about 6 months now, and the one thing bugs me is that almost every film stock seems to kind of kill healthy green grass/foliage. I didn't notice it as much in the samples you showed, but also makes me wonder does the plug-in react differently in ACES (as I always grade in) than it does in a Rec.709 color setting. Preserving skin tones also seems to vary quite a bit. Lately I find myself using more of Kodak Ektachrome E100 (2017) or Porta 400 to more closely preserve accurate colors, though I would much rather use the Motion Picture stocks. Appreciate to hear your thoughts. Thanks!
Thanks for the kind words. I color corrected all of the footage and then applied Dehancer Pro. I only added the emulation and left every other setting as default. I have noticed some of the film stocks mute greens a bit, and some shift skin tones, but I still think it’s true to the look of the film stocks. And I think it’s done in a pleasing way that doesn’t distract from the image and I can’t speak for how it responds in ACES, because I’ve only used Rec709. I think the two film stocks you mentioned are the closest to ‘true’ like you said, but after going though all 58, I think they all have their use as a creative tool. Thanks again!
I wish I could try shooting video on film! As of right now, I can only afford shooting film with my stills camera! I'm also lucky to have a Lab in my city!
I think your grade just screwed things up here because the emulation looked bad. I would have been way more interesting to see just the plain emulation.
Check out Dehancer Pro at www.dehancer.com and use code AJWILLIAMSMEDIA at check out for 10% off of your purchase!
Beautifully made man, your voice is so curing. i got the dehancer pro because of ur video (thru ur link of course).
Thanks so much! How are you liking Dehancer so far?

That’s awesome! The closest lab to me is an hour away. I’ve never shot film for video either, unless you count VHS tape. Maybe one day though. ✌🏽
