Love the video. In regards to the NIO battery system, they aren't meant for super long employment within a singular vehicle. The purpose of this system is mostly to cut down on the amount of time one would spend at a battery charging station. Instead of sitting and waiting for the car to charge you would simply unlpug the dead battery, leave it to be charged for the next persons use, and take a fresh new battery to continue on your way. Each battery/set of battery would provide the typical range one might expect (300+ miles) and at the end of that you would simply switch out the batteries.

One idea Manny is they could build in battery swaps to the cost of the vehicle to reduce time scarcity? With additional cost to high mileage drivers maybe?

I’d like seeing a future with a giant EV skateboard & a selection of bodies available. Like a giant snap tight model, just have different bodies you can pop off & on the driveline. Then you could have a sports car body, SUV style body, & utility truck body sitting in the garage with one driveline system for the lot.
Better patent that before someone else does if they haven't already, ha-ha.

I don't think gasoline-powered automobiles are going away anytime soon. Batteries are still not efficient enough, and are too expensive. Tires for EV's cost much more than tires on a gasoline-powered car, and only last about 60% as long..
Yes, but these costs will eventually decrease as battery technology advances, no?

Might work in California but not up north. Look what's happening with all the electric cars in -40f weather. People are getting notices from the energy companies to stop charging their cars till it gets warmer.
To the battery argument, if everybidy swapped when running low then it would take maybe 10 years for the batteries to reach said mileage AND if there was a system in place to pull the ones aside that have a higher mileage for a teardown it could maybe work but then again fastner and connection durability is the main questionable parts. Cold climate and one mil off will destroy most plastic connectors lol
I think Nio will be leasing battery to you so no aging concern as Manny brings up

We should build cars like the Mercedes Vision EQXX, until battery technology is good enough, which it is and isn't right now, and charging stations are abundant.
Battery technology is ok for some. I myself have a Renault Zoë from 2013, with only a 22 kwh battery pack. Gives me a range of about 120km. I charge once per two weeks in summer times and once a week in winter times. All at home from a 230v home output.
However, going somewhere further than my work, I'm lacking fast charging option for Type2 charge ports, as everything is CCS. And it takes 30 mins to get to 85%.
So, it's good enough but it isn't good enough.
Need time for batteries and charging stations to develop and money has to come from somewhere.

EV Nightmare in Chicago with the subzero temps. Teslas are piling up at charging stations because cars won't take a charge. Looks like they need to re-think this whole electric vehicle thing.

I anticipate a complete departure/head fake back to the future. Manufacturers will pivot from loss leading EVs and deliver on the promise of the jet age with flying cars. Old line global oil & gas companies will lead the charge toward George Jetson & Co., for self preservation, by promoting build out of existing fueling infrastructure at regional and international airports nationwide. A similar build out of "skyways" will leverage existing Air Traffic Control technology applied to lower altitude transport venues. Stay tuned for equity market plays for emerging players in this space.
Like you said infrastructure is not there for electric, personally would not buy a car that is electric unless they can prove more on performance & rang must be better than now!!!

the idea of NIO's concept, is not you having the batty. The batteries are on the manufacturer. Their system changes empty batteries for full ones everytime u go into a station, and company will take out and recycle old ones to put new ones back into their system.
Its way better than waiting at a plug in station. Takes away the responsibility of the battery from the owner. Its expensive when they need to be replaced. This should have been the solution, not plug in stations. I'm sure Nio has a long way to go if it is ever successful.
I've owned NIO stock for about 3 years and am losing my ass. Bought high back then and has been downhill ever since.
@@Funexpected Most EV stocks were at an all time high early 2021. Luckily I was able to almost break even on Lordstown and Chargepoint by selling early.

AUDI should keep the R8 V10 because of its special V10 Engine but new manufacturers should use the last Petrolhead Engines V8 V10 and V12 for Implementation into new Cars...a cybertruck Coupe 2 doors 2 seats a V12 in the rear thats how Lamborghini started business with the Miura...they have yet to built a new Miura
I think over the next five years, manufacturers will be focused on getting the wheels off the ground. With advancements in nuclear batteries (The size of a quarter and lasts 50 years without recharging), the future of EVs in 10+ years looks bright. Lithium is not a replacement for oil since batteries only store energy, so I see a reversal in the mandates when reality sets in.
