    1. Was homeless sleeping in a car with his family of six
    2. At 16 he started working for k-mart earning 120$ a week
    3. Saved 100$ a week and bought his first Car at age 17
    4. swiched to selling nuts for WWI (World Wide Industries)
    5. when he was 18, he started his own company packaging nuts for WWI
    6. After a year in the packaging business he was forced to shut it down for lack of permit
    7. Put the 20,000$ he saved into a gas station business but lost everything to a Loan officer who was a conman
    8. He started from scratch again looking for a job, believing that the loss was a blessing in disguise
I have never met someone who looks at life more positively than this man. He is a great inspiration

His success story is another example of the American dream and how anyone can achieve anything they want if they work hard and don't quit. Loved the interview. More power to him. He deserves all the success. I can't stand lazy people in this country who have their hands out and want everything for free. This is what I think sets this guy apart...
    1) He felt a sense of responsibility and even guilt to repay his parents for the hardships they endured cos he felt he was responsible
    2) He is charming, hardworking, easy to get on with and personable and befriended successful people early
    3) He SHOOK OFF disappointments (like losing that $20k on the gas station) - must of been hell at 19 but he got a job and moved on asap.
    4) He did not party and buy expensive stuff on lease - he decided to buy all his toys for cash (when he could afford it easily)
    5) His vision of the mansions and palm tress always guided his subconscious to move in the right directions
    6) His ambition was always greater than his fear which made him take action
    7) His vision kept expanding as he learnt and he did not constrain his thoughts of what's possible - like when he dreamt of listing a chain of wholesalers at 22.

Great Guest. Great interview by Omar. One minor point: could've done without Omar's shoe everytime the camera was on Manny.

Manny is quite an inspirational person. I'm on the same path were everyone stole everything from me including health, I always had that drive saying it's not over, and right now my brain is processing all sorts of doable ways to get out that situation. It's really hard to find a new path when nothing works. I'm not letting it go, I'm stuck halfway to the mountain top, my soul and heart doesn't want to give up. I'm glad you've done it Manny. I have to find a way to achieve myself as you did. You and I have very similar story. Respect.

It's interesting to note that Manny didn't have the distractions available to all of the youth today. His main focus was survival and achieving his goals empowered by a strong discipline and work ethic. It's one of the reasons many immigrant families are able to obtain businesses within a shorter time span than most.

Very very inspiring! He has great examples of addressing his failures and moving beyond it. Many people who have gone through war are carrying a lot of burdened energy. They in-turn pass the trauma onto the next generation. Sounds like he is the kind of guy who says "Hey world, give the worst you've got and I will show you!!"
