Thanks for being here 🙂
Don’t give my company any ideas now 😂
That's how you become a ThinkPerson!
When this fone release bro?
Thinkphone with app.. Thinkvantage❤❤❤😊😊😊
Dumbo says thanks you too to Tim.
Small point you might have not noticed or forgot to mention
Auto mode restricts refresh rate to 60 to 120hz, it will not reach it's peak 144hz.
You have to select 144hz options only in order to get that.
Pretty sure the System UI and most browsers are limited to 90hz when set to Auto.
@@RyRyTheBassGuy Nope goes all the way for most of the time to 144Hz!
Possibly. That said, difference between 120hz and 144hz is minimal for casual use. In fast motion it's worth it.
Then select 144hz you were only getting 60hz with apple until last year
@@BlackHawkTejas no in auto mode it can only go up to 120Hz
Impressive. I am using various Thinkpads for 10 years and I am loving that Lenovo brings that reliability, sturdiness and professionalism to phone market.
The X1 Carbon is the only laptop I've had for a decade plus. Not ever a single hiccup. As reliable as it gets.
This is samsung dex but more feature rich. Love it, I hope more people actually use these kinds of mobile desktop experiences so more companies do things like this. File sharing, presentations, app streaming is all just so intuitive.
Exactly what i though
I use Dex this side it's lit
yall aint used Huawei combo
@@stevethea5250 I've seen Huawei MUI Desktop mode before but it doesn't have much videos reviews and I'm not sure if people already know about it on since everyone is hyped by Dex and Motorola Desktop mode
Out of curiosity, which feature showed in this video - is not offered by Samsung if you buy a Galaxy phone and a Galaxy Book?
It feels like phone innovations are back after a long time! We were stuck with just improving folding screens for some time now. This feels like a better alternative to the iPhone - Mac ecosystem, or Samsung Dex, but sadly this too shall not sustain or improve, and would probably meet its end without actually taking off.
mallu hooman spotted 😂
You mean we have been being sold cameras that make calls for the last 10 years that is all they focus.
Sadly not enough marketing
I like the phone, but don't have a Thinkpad, just a regular laptop 💀
@@ayusheyyy "enthellaa.."
I've had a ThinkPad for the past 8 years at work, starting with a T450....to my current unit T14 Gen 1. These are workhorses, absolutely love these for work use. Nothing else comes close.
Have u heard about the CrApple Feelphone? Some people tends to get angered by no options. While others believe they feel better about themselves, despite having no control of their options.. 👍
I use a ThinkPad carbon x1 at work and it's an absolute beast of a laptop. Very rugged, fast and tough
I hadn't feel excited about a Motorola phone since a long while now, I'm very happy they seem to get back to the game!
Have u heard about the CrApple Feelphone? Some people tends to get angered by no options. While others believe they feel better about themselves, despite having no control of their options.. 👍
Yes, I use a ThinkPad for work. I had no clue that Lenovo owned Motorola! This is a really cool review!
ThinkPad was actually a product of IBM. I still have a Lenovo ThinkPad T61 from 2007 that has the classic Red, Green, Blue IBM logo embossed on it at the bottom right corner. It’s keyboard is still better than most “flagship” laptops. ❤
I got the Z60m from 2006 and it originally came with Windows XP home edition. It sadly stopped working few months ago, but as you said, it has one of the best keyboards I ever used.

my head hurts seeing this phone, it reminds me how companies which were great once upon a time ceded space to the chinese
I don't know why big channels have not shown it! Thanks for sharing this cool product
I've always believed in Motorola.. they've got it💯
Did not know your channel, loved the video and the way you go fluidly saying the information and specs. Subscribed.
Lenovo should be promoting the fact that Ready For can serve as a PC unto itself. Imagine equipping a small business with Thinkphones alone with hot desk stations stocked with USB-C monitors rather than issuing a phone *and* a laptop.
Android desktop modes like Ready For make PCs redundant in many cases, especially as more work shifts to the cloud.
Agreed.
great point
It could really work if the workload is as basic as possible. Once you need excel functions like a macro or xlookup, and laptop is the better option.
@@wahidpawana424 the average person is not using Excel macros or xlookup. General Excel usage is fine.
That said, yes, I wish Microsoft would enable full Excel functionality in the Android and web app versions of Excel.
I dont want hybrid computers to become a trend for the very fact of how closed and locked down ARM based devices compared to an x86 device such a laptop/desktop
LOL thinkphone without a headphone jack? What were they thinking?
@summushieremiasclarkson4700
They gave a headphone pair
But didn't give a head phone jack so I got confused
Then I spent 8 hours searching how they inserted that then I watched a vid where the person connected the pair of headphones through the charging port
Because the headphone jack would look bad on a premium design that is alluminium 😮 so the headphone connector is like USB c
Looks fantastic. That carbon fiber background wow.
This phone is currently $399 on the Motorola website right now. That's a screaming deal for what you're getting. Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 plus all the other goodies. Even if the cameras aren't the very best and you only get one software upgrade, this is well worth consideration
yup, had many thinkpads at work, these machines are really good
Looks nice. I hope they have success with this one.
Been using a Thinkpad at work for a solid 8 years.
Remember using my father's IBM thinkpad back in 1997. I was literally obsessed with it (along with the Compaq Presario which my sister owned that looked gorgeous). This phone would have been literally everything i would have imagined (and hoped) would come.
Have u heard about the CrApple Feelphone? Some people tends to get angered by no options. While others believe they feel better about themselves, despite having no control of their options.. 👍
THIS is an actual phone innovation
This will be my next phone in about 2 years lol. I was not expecting that low of a price tbh.
For the next 2 years or in about 2 years?
If it’s still manufactured lol
@@i.cortez7608 in about 2 years. Though maybe if the 2nd gen is better I'd buy it instead.

I started using Lenovo ThinkPad since 2015 and it still works. I'm sure that this will last.

But it's android 😂

@Gabriel Leung U sure
My T420 remains the favorite computer I’ve ever owned. Interesting to see this phone review.
Used Thinkpads at my previous job. I miss that laptop
Yep, my work uses ThinkPads for all our desktop and laptops! They are great work machines.
This shows what Google and Microsoft can do if they will work together.
none of those companies are invlolved with this phone like that, lenovo did all the work
that's Lenovo and moto. not android and Microsoft
He already mentioned lenovo owned Motorola
This is what microsoft did 8 years ago
I can pair my phone to my laptop already i alao can use my phone as a mic and webcam so really its nothing new lol, plus. These phones are made by a third party and rebranded by the main company but who knos lenovo maybe made ir.
I just straight up LOVE 😍 the ThinkPhone aeasthetics alone. 😍
If it is unibezel like samsung s23, I’m gonna consider buying this one instead of fold 5.
The wireless part is what sells me on this, I always thought phones as desktops were hampered by having to be plugged in, which seemed awfully inconvenient to me
Samsung and Huawei both had had wireless desktop modes for several years as well. There are wireless lapdocks available, too.
@@nickthaskater That's good to know! I've been considering a Samsung for my next phone and would be cool to try out the desktop.
Honestly if Android gaming was up to par with a desktop PC (which I know it never can be, a big PC will always outperform a tiny phone, but thought experiment lol) I would totally just rock a phone that can become a desktop sometimes as I don't game very often but when I need it, I definitely need it
@@Freak80MC if you love the idea of using a phone as a PC replacement make sure that you also love apps closing when change between apps and tabs in browser. It's really fun.
@@Freak80MC s23U is a beast, would definitely recommend that
Apple does that
I was looking at getting this phone but is it going to be sold by any of the carriers
Absolutely amazing! The fone seems high quality with awesome specs. Just like the Thinkpad X1 Carbon. I love the connectivity between the fone and laptop.
Have u heard about the CrApple Feelphone? Some people tends to get angered by no options. While others believe they feel better about themselves, despite having no control of their options.. 👍
Sweet. However, it's a shame Lenovo decided to skip 3.5mm audio jack, as I'm sick of wireless earphones.
great video! thanks, looks like some cool integration/specs/pricing
Wow. Best Android phone I’ve seen! If I ever switched to Android, this would be the one I’d pick.
Great overview of the phone! Does the flicker prevention option affect the refresh rate or brightness at all? I'm curious about the downsides to that, but love the option since I hate PWM flickering...
No it doesn't. I have a Moto phone with that option enabled and it seems to look just fine.
It doesn't! Have Edge 30 & Edge 30 Pro.
It's great to see my team group work's working great.
thats a good looking display! very symmetrical edges!
Man this is awesome! a great alternative to dex! also if i am correct most of the motorola line has the same feature!
I have the edge 30 plus/ x30...and it is ready for capable
Only from the Edge Series & above & not the G Series.
@@BlackHawkTejas the g200 has ready for. The g200 has the 888 snapdragon and 8 GB ram
They should sell this as a bundle.
if this had an sd card slot i think i would be replacing my note 10+. i love using dex and this desktop app is basically wireless dex.
does the thinkpad phone has same integration with other lenovo laptops like ThinkPad paired with a lenovo legion laptop?
Use them and the hybrid X series are pretty good.
This is good. Thanks Tim, I like what they are doing here. I'm all in with Samsung right now after transitioning from BlackBerry. But this is what BlackBerry could have been doing. Very interesting. Looking forward to your full review of it.
this is how it should work also in Asus and Samsung phones/laptops. And also should not be limited to one phone/laptop from their range but many. That woud be the only way to really compete with Apple ecosystem.
BlackBerry did do this. It was called blackberry blend. I love it! I wouldn't be surprised if they bought the patent.
ua-cam.com/video/fN-QR1JXLoA/v-deo.html
And that was in 2016. BlackBerry was ahead of its time
I just switched to a Lenovo Thinkpad T14 G3 which is a quite good laptop. I work at an IT department of a huge company called Accenture and I work at the IT service desk there in the Offices in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, Europe. I had so many different laptops that I need to work on, fix problems or install that I noticed that this ThinkPad is the best laptop from our standard laptop models here. A litle nicer than the Dell laptops like the latitude 5430 or 7430 we have and also slightly nicer than the HP EliteBook and Zbook we have. Also lighter than most other brands we have. But the ThinkPad X1 you have at the beginning of the video is definitely a more luxury and high end model since it is that one is extremely thin and more premium components
Best product integration and nicely described.
Man I like a lot what Lenovo have done with Motorola, I got the Edge 30 and I love the way it makes easier for me to work and transfer files between mi phone and mi laptop, the client for PC works great, that Thinkphone it's the new Edge 40 (or Edge + for what I've seen) but with a work environment focus, the only thing that I don't fully like about Motorola is the fact that every update takes a lot of time to drop, even when it's almost pure android, and the don't have an update policy that long, but even though I like the way they are working.
Have u heard about the CrApple Feelphone? Some people tends to get angered by no options. While others believe they feel better about themselves, despite having no control of their options.. 👍
I often wonder whether the included case with mobiles are really worth having. They have to be so cheap to be included free?
If so, then wouldn’t it be better not to include something that may ultimately end up in landfill or o a recycle bin?
Hi Tim ... Am one of the OG followers of your channel 💪💪💪💪💪💪 keep up the good work brother
best ecosystem. Now its so much easy for me to switch from apple ecosystem to Lenovo and on top of that i can game on this.
They should definitely make a keyboard phone, like the blackberry /unihertz titan
The Ready For app is Thinkpad only? Or can I use in my non-Lenovo Windows PC?
That design is so cool
The phone laptop integration is very interesting. I could imagine using the phone as a second screen. I could do excel/coding work on my laptop and use the phone to take notes/email/IM, while still using my laptop keyboard.
I remember a Toshiba laptop back in the 90s with this kind of joystick in the middle of the keypad. Lenovo Thinkpad adopted that concept.
Have u heard about the CrApple Feelphone? Some people tends to get angered by no options. While others believe they feel better about themselves, despite having no control of their options.. 👍
how long is the OS/Security updates for this unit?
I have a 6 Gen Thinkpad X1 for personal and Thinkpad 14 for work. Love them both. This might be a great replacement for my Iphone 12.
I love this phone, I hope it'll work on the USA ATT network.
The real question is can I install GNU/Linux on this Thinkpad?
How did you get one? My understanding is this phone is only available for business customers. Price? Thanks
Best thing about this is the background on the phone
I actually think Lenovo doesn’t get the credit it deserves. Some of the most used computers on the market.
I use a ThinkPad for work, I also use one for studying for my degree and for our family business, so seeing that Lenovo and Microsoft are really branching out with a more comprehensive partnership can only be a positive for the productivity marketplace. Recently got a Thinkphone (I wanted a rugged phone that didn't look like a brick!) And found the ability to be typing out an assignment on my laptop and being able to search and copy my references on my phone and be able to paste it into my PC document with a single button press is a game changer. I know I could do this on a Mac and iPhone, but as I have no interest in MacOS and it doesn't really work with all the productivity software I use for work, it simplifies my life somewhat. Getting my windows messages on my phone without having to have 10 different apps to push them is really helpful too. No complaints.
This feels a bit like Motorola touching back to Webtop and Lapdock from a decade ago. Very cool
Will these features work with other Lenovo laptops like the 2023 Yoga series as well?
Looks really beautiful. The display is great, the speed is blazing fast, and the scrolling is buttery smooth. Love the phone!
I love it already, hope it will come to Indonesia soon.🎉🎉🎉
Am watching Jumanji and the part where they mind Indonesia just happened
Great Features! I already have this on my ThinkPad via KDE connect which is a great app!
The phone is just gorgeous!
Will be interesting to see Motorola considering Ubuntu Touch as optional choice for ThinkPhones
It'd be amazing to have some flagship level hardware supporting Ubuntu Touch. I don't see it happening, though. This is purely a B2B branding exercise.
That is not possible without a huge investment in app development and incentive for developers to develop apps for the platform, or they can go the Steam route and develop a compatibility layer with negligible or no performance loss for Android Apps. Otherwise it will never succeed.
Why would someone buy ubuntu phones though, makes no sense
@@user-yx9tu3rc5z because you then have a full desktop PC in your pocket, not limited to silly mobile applications.
@@nickthaskater nokia failed because they undervalued android, just saying. Mass people will choose android and iOS over anything. Motorola is trying to capture some market in the phone industry, so they won't launch something that has too small market
I love the design, it's smart n clean .But how about the CPU n GPU ?
Sd 8gen 1+
in AI Benchmark it has 1700+ points when Snap 865 have 170
Are all of those Ready For features available on the new Edge+ 2023?
Nice to see the MicroSD slot at the bottom
As nice as it looks, and as cool as the features seem... I get the feeling that 90% of the extras won't even be used by most people. AndI can't justify getting rid of my Moto Stylus 5G, which has similar specs
What stylus 5g has a 144hz and a snapdragon 8 gen?????
@@arongomez1560 Previous phone was OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition. Had 144Hz 2160p screen, and Snapdragon 8; barely something you can notice vs 120Hz or lower. Might be nice for some Autists who love stats, but you will not even see a visual difference... Just extra power consumption. Then the SOC fried itself, and refused to make any WiFi, Bluetooth, or Cellular data connection. A local Qualcomm engineer said Snapdragon 8 chipsets have a track record of spontaneously going bad... I didn't expect "the world" from a $900+ Pro-level phone, but I did expect the build quality/longevity to surpass a $500 mid-budget Motorola. Def had the best camera I've seen so far (4k 60fps, to 1200+fps slow motion), but you need an actual 4k display to view it properly, without resampling/aspect ratio changes
Now this is a phone I can buy
This is very useful for the thinkbool plus gen 3, especially the software end. Those of you who dont know this product, it has a second screen that is similar to a phone screen with pen and touch feature.
does it connect like that with all
lenovo devices or just the thinkpad series?
Motorolla has been left behind in mobile phone tech but not being left behind in mobile phone price 😅
No they're not. They've just been experimental for some time.
Reminds me of the Motorola Droid RAZR HD and Droid Turbo.
Wow! What an innovative phone
So the ready for app adds the functionality that the apple ecosystem provides but for windows?
Really wish it worked with thinkbooks as well, this could really convince companies who provide phones to combine these with their inventory of lenovo laptops. Would be an absolute beast of a combo for staff
It works with any laptop,You don't need another Lenovo product. You can even use all of these features with any standard monitor that supports screen casting.
Have u heard about the CrApple Feelphone? Some people tends to get angered by no options. While others believe they feel better about themselves, despite having no control of their options.. 👍
What a shame they didn't include a headphone jack! ThinkPads are considered specialist tools for developers, so I would have thought they would head down the specialist route like Sony Xperia have and include tools other manufacturers don't include! Oh Well, Sony for me!
c'mon. buy 5$ adapter and that's it
I'm a musician and solved that issue by using cables with USB C ends. Adapters work too but I don't like them.
Use dongle dac then
I agree. Though you can get a decent dongle (USB-C) to headphone jack for about $15. The really cheap dongles like this have crappy low-bit rate (96k) DAC chips. You'll want one with a DAC that's at least capable of 320K
I thought the ui looked samsungish but this looks better than dex even?? Have you plugged it into a display through usb directly?
Is this phone a commercial only produce? cant seem to find it on the consumer website.
Finally a Dex competitor! Hopefully this does well and causes Samsung to actually improve dex lmao.
