Great two part flight! I've come by FSX and your videos as part of the Covid-19 lockdown. Your videos have been invaluable to getting comfortable with the default 172SP and all the procedures. I'm moving to glass flight deck soon, then on to the Baron. I'm having so much fun learning to fly using your videos. Thanks again.
Nice flight there. Just a tip about a quick way to work out 90° and reciprocal headings is the "plus one, minus one" and " plus two, minus two" calcs. Eg. the runway was 250° so a 90° base using the plus 1, minus 1 calc is 2+1,5-1 and add the zero on the end = 340° Similarly the reciprocal of runway 25 (using minus 2, plus 2 because the starting figure is over 180°) would be 2-2, 5+2 = 07 and add on the zero to give 070° ...easy when you know how :-)
Really enjoying your tutorials, new to flight sim so learning a lot...and indeed following along!...keep up the brilliant work ! Started watching videos from the very beginning...so long way to go...but enjoyable and learning lots....thanks
Hey Stuart, welcome to the hobby! I'm glad you're liking the videos, I tried to make them as friendly and accessible to people like yourself who are completely new to aviation and/or flight sim. It will take a long time, I've still got plenty to learn myself!
That was great! Also I really enjoyed your tutorial vids on the instrument navigation. I just got a A2A 172 recently and will be doing a leg soon to practice VOR navigation, etc. If you do another flight series like this add in a few shots outside the plane for your transitions, the game looks great so those shots of you between the clouds would be awesome IMO. Cheers!
Edward Reilly Yeah I'll definitely be doing some more "Full Flight" videos soon. Been looking at new addons recently so I'll probably explore those and do another long flight which will hopefully be a bit more professional than last time!
Loved your flight. I did the same dam stall on after take off funny as hell. Love all your videos. I have learned so much from you. You do great vids because you do make mistakes and show us and for me that is a great way to learn. Thank goodness this ain't real. Thanks
Great video (as are all of yours) - Ideal for a FSX newbie like me. I did manage to follow it until your approach into Belfast but i'm confused about how and when you made the 2 turns to line up with the runway. You were flying using the inbound 310 radial - then when ATC gave you left runway 25 (and after some mental calculation) you turned right on a heading of 340. Why this heading? Shortly afterwards you switch off auto pilot and then sunsequently turned back towards a heading of 250 to line up with the runway perfectly, I guess the timing and degree of turns is down to you experience - whereas I would always under or overshoot the runway heading ! Any tips for the correct technique ? Great videos please keep up the good work. many thanks
Mikey Dan Yeah I'll definitely try that next time I do a full flight video. I did mean to use ATC this time round but the first time I tried recording, I struggled to do everything, understand what was going on AND explain it all at the same time.
GREAT couple of videos. I like that fact that you removed the yoke for the flight. Really helped up see the instrument panel. I am using FSX Steam, can I get this plane setup for Steam? Do you know? Thanks for ALL of your videos. All the time you spent doing them is much appreciated and they simply are the BEST tutorials on the tube. Well Done!!!!
You are unlikely to get clearance from WAL through Liverpool airspace. They may well ask you to do LPL / WHI then over to Warton on 129.525 then Blackpool
Your videos are always great...and I did watch through both parts 1 and 2 with great interest. You are a great teacher. I am thinking of purchasing this airplane from A2A and this video provides a good instruction. It intimidates me somewhat because of the realism and complexity, but I think I can manage with videos such as this. I have only one question and that concerns the progressive taxi feature. How do you turn it on and is it available for other add on airplanes as well (Airbus and PMDG)? Thanks again and cheers from Canada!
Progressive Taxi can be turned on once you've spoken to ATC and received clearance to Taxi (drive around on the ground). One of the ATC options is to turn progressive Taxi on or off.
I absolutely did not know this! Thanks Doofer911! Again...great videos. I did buy the A2A Cessna 172! Let the learning begin. I used all your A320 videos to learn that plane and now I can use yours that feature this plane to learn my new plane.
By the way, I used your flight plan on Plan-G and used the GPS to kind of help me along. I know I cheated some. Oh, I guess by now you know to use the headphone jacks in the aircraft. I just notice this video is over a year old.
When doing VOR stuff in the real World. It is harder to keep the plane on track. The needle deflects a little, then it is all over the place and you are chasing it, Managing the needle is what a large proportion of your mandatory 15 hours training for an IMC rating is all about; I suggest you try flying badly and then getting off and on track. The saying is "When going to: Needle left fly left. When going from: Needle left fly right. And vice versa". I also suggest a different approach plate+ The Blackpool one is quite interesting.
+kiembeni Hey Kiembeni, in this video the weather was being generated by REX but I have picked up ASN recently so will be using that for all future videos. As for the message popping up, that was there by default. I think there is a way to change how frequently it updates the weather but I've not looked into it in great detail.
I love your videos! When I search for something in flight sim on youtube and see videos from ''Doofer'' I know it will be a good video! And your name looks like a cartoon character,, is it doofy? Goofy? well anyways haha thx for it man!
+Malafor It's just called "Unit Converter" by Smart Tools. It's simply an app which converts many measurements into others...for example, miles > km, Temperature C > F, Pressure inHg > hPa (mb) and so on.
Sometimes I'll jump into the default 737 and take that for a spin. I'm hoping to pick up the PMDG 737 at some point so I'll definitely put some more time into jets. As for Virtual Airlines, I don't fly in any.

dude ik this is late but thank you
Nice tip.
I watched both. Very real and educational especially to see what all those dials meant and the ATC instructions.
I'm glad you liked it, thanks for watching :)

Very instructive for this newbie. Thank you.

Hello Doofer, please do make a video to make it out as to when nav1 radio and nav2 radio to be used? Please?
Great video (as are all of yours) - Ideal for a FSX newbie like me.

Thought that was very well done and educational.
One suggestion would be to do the same thing using other airports but via ATC and then land ILS
Mikey Dan Yeah I'll definitely try that next time I do a full flight video. I did mean to use ATC this time round but the first time I tried recording, I struggled to do everything, understand what was going on AND explain it all at the same time.
That's actually a great idea Mikey thank you for suggesting this

+Sebastopolmark Yeah I believe the A2A Cessna will work fine in the old and Steam versions of FSX.
what approach pattern did you choose.. looked like you just went right and landed.. did you not have to follow an approach chart?
for runway 25
Awesome! Lot;s to learn, but so very interesting! Keep up the good work!
Another good video, always something to learn and snippets to glean:)
KiloRomeo Yep definitely! I'm hoping I can encourage others to learn more about Aviation

Ah cool, didn't know that. I usually ignore airspace restrictions when flying. Just want to get from A to B lol
Its half the fun.. Try the Manchester Low Level corridor one time
Will definitely give it a go in my own time, don't feel confident that I could make a compelling video involving flying through airspaces!
Great upload, thanks mate.

oh ma good thanks for this amazing flight !!! :D
Really enjoyed this one. The scenery of North Ireland is beautiful. Was this the default?
+Minalover100 I'm glad you enjoyed it! Ground textures were from Ground Environment X: Europe, terrain would have been from Ultimate Terrain X
Thanks for sharing.
Are You using ASN for real weather? How do You bring the REX message on the Screen?
+kiembeni Hey Kiembeni, in this video the weather was being generated by REX but I have picked up ASN recently so will be using that for all future videos. haha, yeah that's part of the reason I chose this name, to be funny and silly!
Good vid buddy.
Can i ask what is the converter app you have on ur fone ?
Cheers
Mala

Cheers fella
Great job. like your video alot for a newbie! RF
I'm glad the video could help :)
Do you fly any airliners?
Fly X Sadly not, I only pretend to be a pilot on FSX lol.
no i mean on fsx

well if you need any help learning to fly it then just email me at: DiamondCubez@live.com
Will do, cheers mate! :)
