The eavestrough is a sloped that way If you want to do this then you have to change the slope of the eavs first. In our case this eavestrough has one down spout in the front and one at the back I just redirected the water from the back to the front also. That's all I did here.

For the tapcon screws is it better to but thebscres in the mortar or the brick? Concerned of the brick cracking.

Can you link two downspouts over a gas meter?
If you're worried about the seam leaking over or on the gas meter you can use silicone in it prior to putting it together and screwing it
Instead of extending the downspout from the front to the back, just bring the downspout down in the back and cover and seal the front opening?
