Thank you so much for your great and refreshing way to run your reactions! I actually already LOVE your channel!!! Found it today, and I can't wait to see more of your content! In my opinion the best way to understand Em, is to go through everything he ever spoke about and rapped that got recorded in chronological order, to see through all aspects of his topics in his music and see how he progressed lyrically through the years... and YES!!! the further thought time you will go, the more you will see more and more wordplays, metaphors and lyrical intricacies, but syllable- rhyme- and rhythmical progression in his music!!! That was happening in general in Rap, but in his specific case it will really help to show you what makes him such a genius and a unique artist!!! And by the way, you can just go on exactly like this. It's YOUR channel, and you should be just yourself and behave in the way you feel most comfortable with😉 Do not think you have to compromise your honesty or originality or anything else because of the bulls*it some dumb asses comment on your videos... I'm really enjoying getting a glimpse into your thoughts and feelings about these songs! PEACE AND LOVE FROM SWITZERLAND ❤️✌️❤️
Music is an outlet for hurt and anger and loss and inspiration and so many things. Metal music even more so than rap but eminem is a very special person when you set aside his crazy outlandish lyrics and take in his messages its incredible. Eminem is a Comedian inside his music but in 3 words later can make you cry. Truly amazing what he does with words. PS - be more confident in yourself. Do you. And yes they use alot of similies, doubles, triples, metaphors. Eminem is the king of that. Props for diving into this to get closer to your son. Respect.
Eminem is a lyrical genius. His music can make you laugh, cry, think. I got into Eminem a few years ago, and I'd say he's one of the best rappers of all time. He's gotten me through the toughest times in my life, and I say this as a 14 year old who grew up on rock and metal. Great reaction. Some songs to check out by him..."My Name Is", "When I'm Gone", "Mockingbird", "Beautiful", "Stan". All the hits and classics, and others which aren't as big..."We Made You", "I'm Shady", "Bad Guy", "Drug Ballad", "Just Don't Give A Fuck", "Business", "Rhyme Or Reason", "3 a.m.", "Deja Vu".
Thank you so much! Wow, it sounds like there is some really powerful music there! Thank you for sharing and for the suggestions/direction! So very much appreciated!
I would say the best way to listen to Eminem is to go oldest to newest. By that, I mean listen to his earliest songs. From those, you get an understanding of the anger he had at that point in time, but also once you get to his newer songs while working through those in the middle of his career, you get a good look into his mind in all those time frames. From angry, to drug addict, to recovery, to thoughtful and to a certain sense, I would say remorseful, particularly to his mother and Kim.
I respect that you were honest that someone in your life put you off Eminem: its often the case that bad relationships and personal connection can put you off some genuinely amazing artistry purely because of the associated memories it brings you. I would recommend you do a song thats a little more personal if you want some variety. I've always thought the song "Mockingbird" was a good intro summary to Eminem's adult life. It focuses on his biological daughter Hailey, his adoptive daughter Alaina from Kim's sister (who passed) and Kim (his ex-partner herself).
Thank you so much for your beautiful comment. And thank you for the suggestion. I just did "Mockingbird." Wow....just, I mean wow. I don't know what I thought but, I didn't expect that to happen! I am so glad to have experienced it, though. So powerful. Thank you, truly!

He has sort of 3 different personae. There's Eminem, the vicious battle rapper who slaughters MCs on the mic. There's Slim, the psychopathic clown who slaughters, well, people, with a chainsaw (Sort of a Deadpool type character). He is purely for comedic effect. Hey, thanks for checking out the channel and hangin' out a bit. Many of y'all guessed it here in the comments but it was "Caterpillar", with no frame of reference, I thought it sounded nice :/ I did end up posting that train wreck of a first video on Patreon.
With em what he says can mean many things you under stand sceams and double and triple entender quadruples metaphors similes wotd play syllables whip cadence study the meaning of these then you will be able to react to any hip hop artist well the lyricist like em
Id gently suggest avoiding the Love the Way You Lie songs with Rihanna because it may be triggering. Would suggest Not Afraid, No Love, Eminem with Sia (Beautiful Pain, Guts Over Fear) are really good. I Need A Doctor video with Dr Dre is really powerful and a testament to their friendship. He has two songs that broke speed records (he broke his own record) with Rap God and Godzilla. When I'm Gone is real heart-rending. You may recall Cleaning Out My Closet (a song getting his feelings out about his mom) from the way back days, but he did Headlights as a grown man that is so so important, shows his growth, and helps me with my own relationship with my mother. There are so many more i could offer. I grew up the same times you did, a preteen in the late 90s. I saw all of Eminem. Im sorry for your association, I have my own with an ex and Nirvana, but I never stopped really listening to Eminem, and it feels like as he grew as a person, I was too, like we grew up together, and his music has always helped me process my own feelings as a young poor white kid living in a trailer with alcoholic parents. So grateful he decided to get clean and stay with us all.
And yes, rap has been using metaphors and all sorts of literary devices. Eminem is the king of multi syllable schemes and triple entendres in just a few words. Not to mention his flow, his ability to bend words into rhymes, his vocabulary... hes a killer artist.
Good eminem songs to start off with are “Stan”, “without me” “till I collapse” “mockingbird”, “forgot about dre”, etc. I think it would give you a good understanding of his personality and how differently he can rap. Other good rappers to check out are Nas, 2pac, Bigge, dr.dre, outkast, mobb deep, and many more.
This is awesome! Exactly the kind of feedback I was hoping to get -- Thank you so much! And thank you for taking some time to comment, much appreciated!
@@FreyaReacts of course! Most of those songs I named are very popular eminem songs so I wouldn’t be surprised if you heard some of them, but you’ll get more into his less known work cause honestly thats where Eminem really shines.

That video is here: watch?v=mMKPwQXReHs 2020: "Godzilla" watch?v=r_0JjYUe5jo 2020: "Gnat" watch?v=EosMazKaPbU These are great for whenever you want a good laugh and a funny reaction to do, and in this order they'll really show you how he changed as an artist over the years.

You know more than you let off. The Will Smith clip and Christina Aguilera thing. I used to watch MTV back in the day. Wow trip down memory lane.
Do Eminem Higher and Rock Bottom
first step would be watch the documentary I sent you
Please react to Eminem when I am gone
Appreciate the suggestion. "When I'm Gone" -- Officially on the list! Thank you so much for taking some time to comment and check out the channel!
What was the name of that newer song?
Hey, thanks for checking out the channel and hangin' out a bit. Many of y'all guessed it here in the comments but it was "Caterpillar", with no frame of reference, I thought it sounded nice :/
I did end up posting that train wreck of a first video on Patreon.
@FreyaReacts hopefully one day you'll release it to UA-cam I'd love to watch it
@FreyaReacts oh and eminem does have a new album dropping pretty soon, Dr. Dre has confirmed it
@@harryesq9404 Oh wow! That's amazing and exciting and intimidating to me all at the same time. Thanks for the heads-up!
There is a great Canadian band called The Beaches, they are an all girl rock group and they have a hit aong that came out last yeat called Blame Brett. You should totally check it out. I will sub to your channel, very cool reaction
Thanks so much for the suggestion (and for taking the time to comment!) Ok, The Beaches -- I'm here for it. Love to discover new music. "Blame Brett"-- Officially on the list! Much appreciated!
@@FreyaReacts Any Time!!!
@@FreyaReactsYou should totally still react to it, even though I guess your channel is rap focused now

React to Lazarus new song “Scalpel” produced by Denaun Porter of Shady Records. Just came out, most lyrical song in years!! No Life Shaq just did a reaction, Tech N9ne posted it and The Game posted it too! 🔥
