Another good review. No fluff, no nonsense or music just practical, useful information. I’m considering a new generation 43” for a smaller room, 50” would be too much
I have a x90k that's going on 2 years old now. For the first month it was lightning fast through everything, the menu, all apps etc. Over the course of a few months though it has slowed considerably and now it's maddening to go from app to app or go through the TV menu's. That is something they should be working on fixing.
Personally i don’t use TV app because of the slower processing, i use Apple TVs. You can always disable unused app or remove the ones that you don’t need
I got my 75" 90L a couple of weeks ago and love it! I currently don't have a need for the 120Hz, but like that its there in case I get a PS5 or something down the road, well worth the $500 difference between the Bravia 3 and the 90L but this looks like a solid set for someone who is never going to use something like that
@julian2524 to each it's own. I had the q60d and returned it for the bravia 3. To me the colors were phenomenal but the TV was to bright. The brightness and colors together blocked images from movies scenes. The bravia 3 is more realistic. Both tvs are nice but I saw for myself each one and I'm satisfied with the bravia 3.
I am planning on purchasing this tv in a couple of weeks. I would like to see how the over the air signal is with a tv antenna, and how well that the tuner works. I am on a fixed income and don’t pay for cable right now, that’s why I would appreciate seeing how well the over the air tuner works. Thanks for all of your hard work reviewing these tvs. I really enjoy watching your reviews. Thanks.
I got the x85k. I needed a 50 inch and not bigger in the tiny space I had. And I wanted a sony and couldn't afford a oled and wasn't sure my environment was good for one yet. I'm aware of local dimming and all that. But I'm very happy with it. Considering the bravia 3 is somewhat "inferior" I'm happy I got it when I did. I'm happy you review these more entry level tvs. You even do the budget tvs. And you give them an actual fair shake and not all dismissive. I'm glad I didn't get a budget tv tho. They are noticeably dim. When I get a bigger room or place I'm all down with getting higher performing tvs but I will still use my x85k. More of a movie watcher so the bravia 3 wouldnt have been a bad decision. Look forward to your review. Good or bad. Or neutral
I also have a 50 inch X85K that I got primarily for PS5 gaming since that model supports 120 Hz. I see the Bravia 3 as more of a replacement for the X80k as both are only 60 Hz.
That's the tv I purchased as well & I'm really liking it. The only issue is the black levels because it's an IPS screen. Incredible viewing angles but not the best contrast in dark rooms.
@@derekwebster8442 which one has good viewing angles? I didn't even start learning about TV's in depth until last week because I bought a entry level 1080p TCL and upon trying to sit even slightly off to one side, the picture is trash. I like to watch stuff with friends so I'm looking for someone with a good angle. I literally watched a 1989 model console CRT from 2017-2024 just for the fact I'm amazed it keeps going. That thing has a good angle and DVDs look great on there. Also, I'm dreading 1080p from my PC games possibly looking like ass on the 4k.
Hey Steve, I am mostly concerned about picture quality for sports and movies. Would you recommend the Bravia 3 or X85K? and is the difference noticeable?
I have enjoyed watching and learning from your channel over the last few years, with regards to TV reviews. The Sony entry-level and mid-level comparison videos were some of the most enjoyable content on your channel. If you have any of the older Sony TV's another VA vs IPS, X77L/X80K/X85K vs Bravia 3 would be great! Another idea would be Bravia 3 IPS vs Bravia 3 VA would make a great video, letting viewers see the strengths of color (IPS) and contrast (VA) between each panel type.
I appreciate your support, however, only get certain TVs , sizes and only have certain space in my studio to store them.I would need a warehouse for all the comparison people wants me to do.
@@TechSteve From a consumers standpoint the niche of this tv and the x85k is picture quality, reliability at a reasonable price in 43" and 50" models. Are you sure about the panel types? Rtings has the 43", 55" and 75" as IPS and the 50", 65" and 85" as VA panel types

Great entry level Sony TV. Would've been far better with HDMI 2.1 ports and their best Sony XR processor. 42/43' is a great screen size. I'm looking to get the Bravia 8 55' with HDMI 2.1 and best Sony processor XR for my bedroom to use mainly as a pc monitor and will use the TV apps on occasion when Microsoft regularly forces updates I can use the TV apps while my pc is updating (Intel core i7-14700k rtx 4080 Samsung pro 990 2TB SSD). @techsteve - Please let us know how the Bravia 3 compares to Sony's X85K with respect to picture quality and sound. Interested because the older X85K is a 120 Hz panel which is better for PS5 gaming for us Call of Duty players.
I have the 75" 85K, yes it is a 120HZ. I also own the OLED A9G master series 77". I feel the 85k should be comparable to the Bravia 4,5,6 etc. This one is more like the 77k but I feel this one is much better. The 85K is still over $1,000.00. This one is more like $750.00. Planning to buy the 75" because it's a IPS panel. Plus I need something cheap for the basement so I guess I'm going with this one. I feel the 85k is still a better TV, and more expensive.
