Small mistake in the video: The yellow wire is constant power, and the red is ignition (i.e. turn on).
Here is the power supply use to connect the boom box: ua-cam.com/video/-b8X__GHRtY/v-deo.html
Thanks for the video! Is it normal that the back part of the car radio gets really hot? (The metal part)
It should generate some heat. I am not sure how much is considered normal.
With them both hooked together is doesn’t really matter lol
This can depend on the brand name, some do change their wiring layout but keep the colour code the same. I have done some installations in my past and not checked and flattened the vehicle battery even when not powered on.
Would this be possible to make without a crossover if I used full range 6.5 speakers?
Hey man, not sure if you still read these, I’m looking to do this but with a subwoofer. What power supply would you recommend? And where should I stop with the wattage on the subwoofer? I’d like to do a 1200 watt but I know that’s pushing it.
Hey did you happen to find a powered supply. I’m looking to run a 10,000 watt amp
Great video! The yellow wire is constant on the head unit and the red is turn on. Keep up the great work 👌
I suppose I am a big dummy. 😀
I remember the yellow wire being called memory cable.
Yes, I remember that as well. Red was power and yellow was memory. I don't know if the wire changed or the terminology changed. I also remember AM/FM radios and 8-track players that had a physical dial used for tuning and radio presets. When the car was off these radios had no power. There was no need for power the radio didn't do anything. There would have been a separate clock in the dash.
Back when I first started flipping through crutchfield in the early 1990s a clock on the radio was an important feature. Not all of them had clocks. If your factory radio had a clock then there was no clock on the dash and upgrading to an aftermarket radio sometimes meant that you would lose your clock.
Those were simpler times.
Good eye Big D!!
Tight budget people For the power supply you can use a power supply from a desktop p c , the wiring will be online for brand, etc, join all 12 volts together all ground together and not in use will be 5 volts depending on power supply, unless you want to hook up USB charging separate, etc... to turn the power supply on there is a trigger wire that can get rigger with a ground wire which a switch can be used in between it, or 5 volts trigger depending on power supply,
I wouldn't recommend going out and buying one just for this.
I did this back in the late 70s with a Pioneer super tuner and a pair of 6x9s. It was my garage stereo for 35 years.
👍💪

I had car audio in my room back in the 90's deck amp digital eq & 2 15in titans
Thank you AudioGuy for taking the time to explain out many of your builds. I am currently messing around with setting up some 15’s, 12’s and 10’s in a DIY backyard lawnmower shed stereo build, so that I (and the kids) can have some noticeable beats while playing in the backyard. This specific video assisted me with my power supply hurdle that I had with powering a Kicker KXA400.4 amp. (And NO, none of these speakers go over 200 rms.) But now, thanks to you, we’re all enjoying fun music outside.
That's awesome!
I am going to have to live in a pretty tiny apartment and found some 50w speakers at my parents' place and wondered if I could use a car stereo to help me out? After all, those speakers are passive, so I would need some kind of amp - something a car stereo typically has. Are there any recommendations you have for a situation like this? Thanks!
Honestly, it is not worth the trouble or expense unless you already have the radio laying around. I recommend something like this instead: bit.ly/3wX0UlP It will be cheaper and more effective. If that is to much power they have a wide selection of small home audio amplifiers.
Two questions how did you manage to put the heat shrink sleeving on after you soldered and how to keep the memory after you disconnect the power supply something in line maybe
In the past had done a few project with retro car stereo players
Always fun!
Question? I hooked up my Kenwood car stereo to my power supply and every things good but can I hook this up to a home powered subwoofer using the good RCA cable? Please reply. Thanks.
Yes.
Pardon my ignorance but, are you using the 348w power supply to run the radio or are you using the "what looks like a lap top power supply" for the whole experiment?
That's a great question. I'm using them both. The 348 watt power supply is permanently mounted to my test bench, I use it to run the test radio and an amp. The one that looks like a laptop power supply goes with the Bluetooth boombox.
Hi. What is the app you used on your smartphone to measure frequencies?
Good stuff! Thanks for sharing.
Great, thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
If you are searching for a high current power supply unit, a gaming desktop computer ATX power supplies are the way and only require switch be connected. Significantly cheaper than a standard PSU and with higher efficiency. Currently using a 850Watt PSU with an output of 12vDC @ 70Amps. My bedroom stereo system is a car stereo system including subwoofers.
Those are good if you have on sitting around.
PC Power Supplies are the most cheap way of getting that power. I had an older 450 watt power supply laying around and a friend asked, if I had something, to test his car audi amp on the bench. Some of those are power hungry monsters, but his only needed around 150 watts. The fan of the power supply was still running idle.
A lot of people use those.
What brands of car stereos have a feature that allows you to run car subwoofers without a external amplifier.
Great video series 👍
Thanks! It was one of my earliest projects.
@@DIYAudioGuy no worries...just found your channel yesterday...trying to catch up..lol..I subscribed and will be watching..thanks for sharing your knowledge
I just run mine with a AGM car battery(no fumes), then put a trickle charger on it. Works great and no conversion confusion. It's all mounted in a box with a computer fan for cooling. I can take it to the lake or camping. Depending on battery it will last for days.
Nothing wrong with that, it's just something that I can't recommend. You sound like you know what you're doing. Not everybody knows what they're doing and you can do a lot of damage with a car battery.
Server power supply’s are beasts use them people
Can you use a 20 volt drill battery and use a step down converter to step the voltage down to 12 volts dc as a power supply to power a car stereo indoors
Or you could try a 12 volt drill battery.
DIY - Great channel and nice to meet you last week on 12 V Talk. Keep up the great work and I look forward to following your channel.
It was great to meet you. My next big project is going to be car audio related, it's probably going to take me a couple of weeks before I can get a video up.
Can you plug that ac to dc power supply directly into a home outlet? Or use a power supply like the one you're using?
Nevermind. Duh. You answered that question.
It's all good.
Can you use a PC power supply for the AC/DC conversion? PC power supplies have 12volt rails and can go over 1500watts. Thanks
Yes, apparently a lot of people do that.

I need to make test panel.amp is 60 amp 240 wat rms x2 bridged how much watt converter i need ?500w ok?plan run set 6.5 inch mids and tweeters and 1x 300rms 12 inch sub
This is a great way to run a low power system but if you are looking into a good system in your house. Get a power max inverter. They make all the way up to 120 amp ones. Made for RVs. And a lithium battery.
Yep, need the right tool for the job.
I know this is an old video and im late to the party lol. But im considering doing this myself to build myself a custom bluetooth party speaker. Would it be possible to wire a small car amplifier inside the box to power to subwoofers seperately like you would in a car?
After seeing some examples i conclude that a red optima battery and a wall-charger is the way to go,especially when i want the bench to handle 3000watts.
I am not a big fan of using car batteries inside the house. I've seen a few batteries explode while they were sitting on a charger. Make sure you do your research use the appropriate type of charger and take safety precautions.
I have home car system with 1800 watt kicker Amp an 2 kicker 12's it pounds Ani just hook up power to my battery charger for my car
After watching your video you got me motivated to get back into the car audio. I would like to build a Raspberry Pi car audio home system, but I am struggling with trying to figure out how to wire the power to all the devices. The system would have the Raspberry Pi, a touch that connects to the Raspberry Pi, an equalizer, and a 360 watts amp. If you have the time and the disposition I would welcome any advice you may have to offer.
I am assuming that you are using a 12v amp? You can just use a sufficiently large 12 volt power supply and then use something as simple as a 12v USB adapter to power the pi.
So what if i wanted to put a car stereo in my garage permanently and i need 2500 watts peak power would i just buy a big power suply

Wouldn 't it be good to use some AlNiCo fullranges with a car radio?
They are efficient, they don 't need a lot of power and, in a proper enclosure, they should have enough bass.
I am not familiar with them. I would like to learn more.
As far as full range drivers go, in a perfect world a full range driver would be the best solution for home or car.
@@DIYAudioGuy Here there are some AlNiCo speakers: www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=4+ohm+alnico+fullranges&_trksid=p2334524.m4084.l1313&_odkw=alnico+full+range
I made a setup in my garage with an old computer power supply. It outputs 12V and even has some 5V signals. The power supply is 350w so more than enough to run a headunit and a small 4 channel amp. Have pair of 6x9s on front and the 2 rear channels are bridged running an 8" Bazooka sub I had lying around.
There no issue using a computer PSU. I fused all my connections and removed any wires I didn't need. I don't push the PSU past about 50% of its capability. Computer PSU is actually great to use, it already has a built in fan, I built little upstands and put an additional fan on it. No issues with it at all in last 6 months. Runs the setup just fine and did it for same reason, also wanted a test bench as I buy/sell/flip alot of car audio. Find good deals on stuff, verify it works and resell for as much as 300% of what I paid.
Awesome
How is the power supply holding up?
No problems so far, but to be fair I have not used it in a few months. It's been cold out in the garage.
hello i have bluetooth radio i would like to cook up and 250watt amp what power supply should i get
What kind of power supply would i need to run a 1000watt amplifier in my home?
If you're going to run it at full tilt all the time you're going to need something that can give you at least 150 ampers of current. That's bigger than most standard power supplies. You will push the limits of what a household circuit can handle. I would look at some of the UA-camrs that test amplifiers, Williston audio labs, budget gem or budget budget, high five Vega, and consider a setup similar to what they use. At that point you might find it cheaper just to sell the amplifier and look for some pro sound amplifiers, something from behringer or crown.
Thanks for the informative video. Where did you get the car radio portion for that cheap?
I first heard about it from another UA-camr. The price has gone up since then, I'm not even sure if it is still available. But you can still find Bluetooth car receivers for under $30. another option is to check out parts Express, they sell bluetooth enabled amplifier boards. if you dig around a bit and find something that seems like a good deal let us know about it.

Thank you.
That unit is very similar to a dual xdm17bt available at Walmart for $16.87 they’re pretty cheap now. - May2020
JC Carreira if you want 2 6.5 inch speakers with it it is only 6 dollars more because they had a rollback!
Whoever was trying to get 400 W out of that little converter that was just being downright greedy and really its the amps And home wiring it’s not Volts that will kill you is the amps . When I was a 14?I had bought stereo system For my future vehicle that I didn’t own yet . One thing for sure it was going to have bass in it .I bought it all from the flea market subs and amp it was all pyramid and pile I use the battery charger my dad has in the garage it would get a little hot sometimes but it worked
If I knew a little more I would’ve had a card battery thrown in there with it🔈🔉🔊
Right, that thing's not really made for that kind of power. I use it on my test bench to power up head units and small amplifiers.
Why not just hook uo to a 12 volt rechargeable battery or small car battery jump starter?
Are you using a typical car antenna in your house? Or, something that will do a better job of picking up stations? Is the antenna also inside the house?
I'm not using an antenna, i just use the Bluetooth.
DIY Audio Guy oh , so you never listen to any radio stations from your car stereo? Well, that really limits what you can do with it. Or am I missing something?
I am installing a 12vdc stereo in our lake cottage but I will need some type of car stereo antenna to pick up any stations. I will have BT, usb, mp3 also but sometimes we want to listen to a radio station.
@@MrLike2surf It's hard to believe but I don't listen to the AM or FM radio. If you would have told me 5 years ago that I would just stream music all the time I would have called you crazy.
As far as the antenna, my understanding is that antennas are very simple things all you really need is a wire. But I'm not an antenna expert I would advise you to do a little bit more research before jamming a wire into the back of the radio. If I have the opportunity I'll do some research and perhaps post a video but it might be a while before I can get to it.
You just need to buy a car radio antenna jack and just connect a 4 foot wire to the center pole. Car radios have powerful receivers. I get better reception from the car radio in my house than the home audio stuff. Edit: there’s a socket in the back of the car radio that it plugs in to btw
that label on the power brick saying dont draw more then 80% is a complete red flag. Any SMPS from any reputable brand will be able to run at 100% load, all day. MOST SMPS have overpower shutdown at ABOUT 110-120% load
Good point.
Instead of using a power supply, would I be able to use an AGM or Lithium battery? If so, would I be able to keep a charger on the battery as I’m using it with a amplifier/head unit ???
I've seen far too many car batteries explode to recommend using one inside of a house. Plenty of people do it though, and I'm sure it can be done safely. But, I'm just not a battery expert so I don't feel confident recommending anything about batteries.
DIY Audio Guy ahhh ok I understand. When you’re using a power supply with an amplifier, does the amp ever get hot? Im wanting to make a speaker box likes yours and I’m just trying to figure out the different options I can go about doing it.
Yes, the power supply gets hot, the amp gets hot.
Did you have any problem with static while using an auxiliary input?
Nope.
Ok, so my radio has ONLY a black wire, other than the wires for the speakers, I can’t find a red or yellow wire at all. The radio is a factory radio from an 01 dodge Dakota, do I just use the black wire for the power source?
That is strange. Tell me what you're trying to do and I'll see if I can troubleshoot a little over the internet. The first thing to keep in mind is that most car manufacturers do not follow the same color coding scheme that aftermarket radio manufacturers use. I'm assuming that you're trying to hook up the radio from your truck in your home? If you've removed the radio from the pickup truck then you should just unplug the harnesses in the back and you can get an aftermarket harness for just a few bucks. They might even have one in stock at Walmart, they'll definitely be in stock at most auto parts stores.
@DIY Audio Guy Hello, I’m very sorry for not answering right away I’m quite new to UA-cam and didn’t know how to check if you responded.Yes I am trying to hook up my trucks old radio for in home use. There are two wiring harness is at the back of the radio, they seem to be for the speakers. However, the only other wire coming out of the radio is a single black wire, and it seems to be the power source.
@@lexforeman144 If it's a really thick wire it might be the antenna.
The wires in the back for the speaker should be a factory wiring harness. it sounds like someone may have cut the factory wires to remove the radio from the dash. Just buy an inexpensive aftermarket adapter, they have them at Walmart and AutoZone and Amazon and almost anywhere else you might look. The wires will be color-coded and there will be a diagram or description on the back of the package telling you what color does what.
Factory wires tend not to follow standard color coding schemes. They like to use their own wiring colors so that it's hard for people to work on them.
Just chiming in, but confused with this low budget receiver and fairly expensive audio capacitors and induction coils. Seems a waste of a good low pass
Most small DIY projects like this are a waste. It's a hobby, it's wasteful. Virtually every hobby is wasteful.
Where did you get the fuse block on the test bench?? And would that be OK to power a 1200 amp if it'd turned down. The 15 inch sub is only 200 was gonna run more speakers in my blazer but it never happened. So that big amp was running one speaker the installer turned the amp down so it wouldn't overpower the speaker
I want to hook my old cassette player home stereo that came with my mobile home in my car
Very nicely done !! You explain everything very well. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and videos, Rodney
Thanks for watching!
Ah fuck here I am buying a cheap DC power amplifier to run speakers. I didn't even think about using a headunit which puts out more power than that baby amp. Didnt know making it run off DC was so easy 😯
That's exactly what I thougth when I saw the radio -- cheaper then a BT amp.
So how big of a power supply converter do I need for 2 12s and 4 5x7s. I don’t understand the power conversion. The subs are around 500w rms combined and the 5x7s are like 350-400rms. Does that mean I need a converter that can do 1000w ?! The biggest one I can find on Amazon is like 350w…
The math is pretty simple, if you're going to pull a thousand Watts through your power supply then you will need a 1000 w power supply.
That's the problem with trying to hook up 12 volt amplifiers inside of your home. After you buy the power supplies, the juice is not worth the squeeze. Instead you could just buy a home audio amplifier and a plate amp for the subwoofer.
@@DIYAudioGuy thanks for the reply, i guess I misunderstood. Thought there was a proper conversation, but they’re just being underpowered. Gotcha. I was just curious because me and my father are putting together a home theater and I have lots of car audio component and figured we could save money by using one of my spare subs and amps. But I’m Better off doing it the right way I suppose, as usual lol
Thank you sir from guddappa k Bsnl davangere smart city karnataka state india
Thank you sir!
I'm about to do the opposite with studio monitors and an inverter 😂
Cant you hook up your car subwoofer box and 6x9’s to a home amp that plugs into the wall?
Yes, just need to use a 4 ohm stable amp. Like this one: ua-cam.com/video/T_988Utml5k/v-deo.htmlsi=q7bp7kYZPsXEC4CU
I hooked up a head unit to some small bookshelf speakers that came with a Panasonic mini hifi unit. It’s the best sound quality I’ve ever had for the money. For portability I connect it to my jump starter packs 12V 10A output. It came with a cable that just happened to be the right one to connect it to the power input socket. I used the same socket for power you did.
That's cool! I listen to the radio more at home than I do in my car, but I have a better system in my car than in my house.
👍
Hello DIY Audio Guy! I have a quick question for you and I’m hoping you can solve my issue! I built a homemade Bluetooth sound system using car components such as a 4 channel amp for 4 6x9 speakers, and a mono amp powering a 12 inch subwoofer along with a car double din head unit and a 7 band equalizer. These are powered by three separate power supplies the same as shown In your video from Amazon. I have one 40a powering the 4 channel amp, one 50a powering the mono amp for the sub, and a 15a supply powering the equalizer and head unit they are all connected to the same extension cord and I believe everything is wired correctly. Now my problem is the static hissing noise when I have everything plugged in. Now this system sounds absolutely fantastic don’t get me wrong. It seems like everything is working great as it should. But the loud static sound when no music is playing coming through my speakers drives me crazy! I have tried wiring it differently, changing Rca cables…nothing seems to work. What would you suggest or recommend that I do differently?
Honestly, I have no idea. You will need to isolate the problem by removing components. Start by setting gains with an O-Scope or a DD1 (ua-cam.com/video/G2U8AoeYiTw/v-deo.html ). If you have some noise then improper gain settings could be amplifying it, turning a little noise into a lot. Then plug your cell phone directly into the 4 channel amp RCA inputs with everything else powered off. If the hiss goes away then you know that the head unit or EQ was the problem.
How much for a build and sale it to me I’ll buy the items and you’ll it ??
Unfortunately I don't really have time to do builds for people at the moment.
Can I use a 12v charger cord that plugs into the a house hold plug being 110v into an 1000w inverter to provide the needed amount of watts to my 1000w car amplifier so I can use my 1000w watt subwoofer in my home.
I'd rather not have to buy a car battery or better yet a marine deep cycle which would cost me hundreds.
OR
Having the described application with the 12v battery of a 100amp being constantly charged as I use my subwoofer so I doesn't die. Seeing that I won't have an alternator to keep my battery charged while I use my car audio system in home.
Any info would be great!!
I use something like this.
amzn.to/3FRTvbY
8amps 340w something's not mathing here.
Maybe my 2kw rms amp dont should be one a 600 watts power supply xD
That sounds like trouble.
A computer tower power supply works WAY BETTER GUY.... run 1 PSU to the radio unit, run 1 PSU to the AMP to hook up subwoofers.
I disagree but that's okay, we can disagree.
If you power a car amplifier power supply that’s rated to handle 15 amps of current and the car amplifier draws 40 amps and the car amplifier doesn’t shut off and the car amplifier ends up working just fine will the capacitors inside the power supply explode like firecrackers if the wires are thick and don’t melt and catch fire
Something like that, yes.
Can a 10 inch speaker use a 5 inch passive radiator ?? I have a CompRT 10 Inch subwoofer kicker. But the space in my car is not enough for a big box please solve it
Short answer, no.
The rule of thumb with passive radiators is that the passive radiator must be able to displace twice the amount of air as the active driver. So you either need two passive radiators that are both 10 in with the same xmax as the passenger driver, or one passive radiator that has double x max of the 10-in driver, or some combination in between. Another solution is to use a passive radiator that is larger than the active driver.
I offer box design services, I would charge about $150 to design a small passive radiator enclosure.
How do we keep the memory saved like saved radios to be retained into car stereo powered by smps
You would need a battery for that.
I'm working on FINALLY getting a test bench set up .man yours looks great!!!!
Thanks I appreciate that! Right now it looks like hell, piled with tools and scrap from projects. I only clean it up when I need to film a video at the bench.
Can i use 12v 25 anorere power Supply???
How do i hook up something with big subs? Something big power? Have a comp 6500rms half ohm stable mono block going to 2x15" 3000rms subs
Obviously not going to use that amount of power but is there something affordable that can semi run it
Something like this is what you're looking for. amzn.to/3BDqBet
That's the problem with running 12 volt equipment in your home. You end up having to buy an expensive inverter plus a battery. We're almost better off just grabbing a pro audio amplifier. amzn.to/3pRfKek
See watching youtube at 3am does give you good ideas, I've got 2 JBL gti 1000watt 12inch subwoofers just been sitting about cheers.
👍
If I were to want to run car subwoofers inside a house and didn’t want to use a car amplifier to power them can a powered dj mixing console with a built in amplifier such as a rockville powered dj mixing console be used instead of a car amplifier
Just have to make sure the amplifier can handle a forum load, or wire the subwoofers to 8 ohms.
How to connect the antenna that is the question. I listen to a lot of FM sports radio
There's an FM antenna plug on the back of every car stereo. You just need to buy the right parts and plug it in. I haven't listened to FM radio in so long that I wouldn't even know where to tell you to start.
When you unplug the power supply from the outlet don't you lose all the settings you applied on the radio? I'm saying that because there is not any voltage for the internal memory so it can keep up storing things.
Yes.
@DIY Audio Guy So you lose everything after you unplug it? Is there any way to prevent this from happening without having the power supply turned on 24/7?
Yellow and black wires must be always connected to a 12v battery. You can use a small lithium battery.
I watched the video on UA-cam by sundown audio unofficial and they ran a car amplifier on a 20 volt drill battery and what’s crazy is it handled it and it didn’t blow up but after watching the video the question is can car amplifiers really handle more than 12 volts of input voltage
If your alternator is spinning, you're going to get 14.4 volts in a car. Car voltage is an odd thing, it fluctuates. It'll be less than 12 volts if you've been running the radio with the engine off.
A lot of competition car audio runs at 16 volts.
20 volt drill batteries are actually 18 volts for the same reason. Some amplifiers can handle the voltage just fine. Some have unregulated power supplies and will actually make more power with the higher voltage.
Some have over voltage protection and will go into protect when they sense a high voltage.
How you will connect an amp for speakers and amp for subwoofer?
The had unit has a pair of RCA outputs. Just need to extend them to the back of the enclosure.
Great show see you next time
Thanks!
So in order to power an amplifier you need the large 12v dc supply? Smaller one should be plenty of power to run just the headunit. Wouldnt your HU settings reset any time you disconnect the dc adapter from the wall?
Yes and yes
So I couldn’t use an 12v 2a plug ? Like from a router ?
I think that would work just fine.
Is a much more powerful power supply required to power a car amplifier in bridged mode for running car subwoofers in your home.
You're going to want something like this. amzn.to/3Gp4Fp6
What would happen when you unplug it
You would lose any memory presets, just like if the battery dies in your car.
@@DIYAudioGuy how or what can i use to maintain the memory of the radio, is there anything I can use
@@dragon66leo I do not know.
im looking for a home theatre system thats capable for 7000watts plus just so i can my apartment to shake anyone got any ideas
A couple of ideas. You'll want a home theater receiver that has RCA outputs, then just run those to pro audio amplifiers. Crown, behringer, those kind of things.
I use that same radio for home use. I hook it up to my bench power supply that is good up to 30V 10Amp. I have it connected to some cheap flea market 6x9's. I had a small wooden box laying around that was originally a shipping crate. I sealed it real good with caulk and used spill mats to deaden the wood so it wouldn't rattle. I cut the holes and screwed in the 6x9's. It sounds pretty good for what it is.
That makes for a great inexpensive garage radio!
I'm wanting to do the same thing. What power supply / adapter did you use?
@@budbrown5687 there should be a link to it in the video description.
Can I hook up speakers to my car radio, using the rca Jack's, the red and white Jack's in the back of my head unit
No.
If you were to try it, you would get sound out of the speakers, but the RCA outputs are not designed to drive a speaker.
@@DIYAudioGuy so do I just wire straight from the head unit to the new bookshelf speakers I got? Without using rca cables?
Also I was gonna try the rca cables , to an adapter for the aux, or head phone jack, and plug those in the speakers .
I love it. Now if I can only build it (or buy it from someone else!)
This kit works a LOT better: ua-cam.com/video/coBRZVkJ-zE/v-deo.html
you're a CW Flash fan!
Yes, and I like fun t-shirts.
Good video. I have a system that runs a 1000 watt Amp to 2 15inch subs and a set of other speakers. I was using a deep cycle battery and just kept it charged. What kind of power supply would I need to replace the Battery?

Be safe, don't blow something up.
Getting ready to order a power supply for my workbench for anything and everything car audio. Do you have any suggestions on a unit? I see multiple quality ones for under $100 and from what I am learning that's about right for needs.
Depends on what you need it to do and the features you're looking for. amzn.to/3YZ6XnQ
@@DIYAudioGuy, quick question, I am running an LC2i pro and have chose to tap into or use the factory subwoofer wires. Having a hard time finding the color ledger for the vehicle, I do not have a polarity tester, is there a way I can prove the positive and negative wire?
you don't need what he says i use a desk top power supply with a 380 watt amp for a sub had no problems
A lot of people go that route.
Hi, What is that spectrum analyzer hardware and software please?

I used a 600w pc block power supply for mine and now see that you use the lighter laptop power supply, what is the little adaptor connector that you use? I am going to remake mine and it will be so much lighter with this.
You mean something like this?
amzn.to/3L9y8Vs
You'll have to make sure that you've got one that fits your power supply, and make sure that it's a 12 volt power supply.
I think they're all either 2.5 mm or 3.5 mm or something like that.
The power supply that I used had one in the box if I recall correctly.
@@DIYAudioGuy thank you I will have a look, mine is quite heavy but will be lighter and tighter now that you have showed me this 👍🏼👊🏼
Can a car audio passive cross over be used with a home speaker if the cross over frequencies are similar
Yes, but home speakers are often 8 ohm so it will change the crossover point.
I'm 37 and I know, I too will come to the day, when I realize that I have also lost all humility. Or perhaps sanity and perception of time and sound.
Or perhaps you are like me and you never had any of that to begin with?
hi friend . were i can buy the power amps please
The car stereo head unit can be found on amazon, the one I used in the video is no longer available. This is the closest substitute: amzn.to/3pPJ0zL
Im using a 10” transmission line subwoofer along with my home theater. It was previously used in my car. Kindly suggest a method to properly power the amplifier at home. I have made a 12v 40A transformer for the 500w rms rockford amplifier but still im getting a lot of ground loop and distortions from subwoofer. Is it a good idea to use a car battery to power thr amp??
I'm not a big fan of using car batteries inside of the house. Improper charging and discharging will cause them to explode. Take a look in the video description and you should find a link to the power supply that I use on my test bench. Another good option is to buy a pro amplifier like a crown or an inuke.
DIY Audio Guy thanks for the reply brother
How to pick the correct power supply for this MVH-S120UB
Check the fuse rating on the back, any power supply that can deliver that That amperage at 12 volts will do the trick.
Just be smart when dealing with electricity.
Your link took me to a 5v unit, not 12v?
Was it one of the Amazon links? When a product is out of stock or no longer available Amazon will redirect the link.
I had already done this at 12 with a 8track player and converter box from radio shack so I'm down with this
I miss Radio Shack.
