One of the most automatic, easy decisions this week: Loving, subscribing and liking the video. One of the hardest decisions this week: Being the 70th like.
Yes please deadlines…. 😅 I love this! I went with substack because a ton of my people are there… the literary memoir writing and reading crew. And it lets me podcast straight from the platform. I love it, but it is super quirky in its vibes. I think of it more like a long form social media platform that monetizes relatively well comparatively speaking. The 10% also doesn’t include foreign transaction fees if you let people pay in their own currency which bumps it with cc processing closer to 15% 🤔Seeing how you’re using convert kit is so, so interesting!!!
I absolutely agree: it is social media that monetizes so well. I like how easy it is to share, too! Someone told me when I was trying to decide “which one FEELS best? “ that was good advice. You can pro/con all day, both of them have good and bad things… but how it feels goes a long way.
Hi Ashlyn! I'm wondering for the past swipes link how do you stop people who have unsubscribed from accessing it? Loved this video...well all of them really!
Hey, Ashley! YES. Convertkit basically (without getting too in the weeds) has a stop gap for this that I understand works so far. Are you inside The Collective membership? I can drop a video in there this week or next with a bit more behind-the-scenes on what happens when folks subscribe, if that would help! xx
Tanya, I DID. I talked to my membership crew about it, but TLDR, I loved building my own server. I don’t regret it. But once ConvertKit bought Sparkloop … introduced the Creator Network … introduced paid newsletters … I wanted to jump baha. I went almost 22 months on my own server, it was fun, but I love being back on ConvertKit!!
Reporting live from a coupla months in: you should try a paid newsletter. They’re kind fun. 🤩 Here’s mine if you want some inspo ➡️ copybank.club

Welcome aboard! Lol is 70 an unlucky number? I like even numbers so I wouldn’t know 😅
@@AshlynWrites Hahaha, no I'm being facetious - I "ruined" a 69
"I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by." - Douglas Adams
(It also me.)
lol once I first heard that quote it was like, oh that’s why I am the way I am 😅
Thank you for the video. I love to the concept of low maintainance membership like this 🎉
VERY low-maintenance. All about the "set the constraints, then max out the profitability within the constraints" concept here.
I just wanna say: I love u
well that'll get ya in the feels.

What font do you use on your website?
Awesome
Do you have thoughts on Ghost for a platform?
What is churn?
If I watch your 16 min video do you show how to get subscribers...
Or just how to find advertisers?
✔
So you moved away from your the platform you built?
