Dear Austin: I am curious about the physics of Recoil Boosting, the act of using the recoil of weaponry to propel someone in the air. From games like Shantae, Devil May Cry, Jetpack Joyride, No Time to Explain, and GTA, they always show Recoil Boosting as easy and baking Hot Pockets. Randall Munroe did a take on it on xkcd What If. I'll just quote him here: "The GAU-8 Avenger fires up to sixty one-pound bullets a second. It produces almost five tons of recoil force, which is crazy considering that it’s mounted in a type of plane (the A-10 "Warthog") whose two engines produce only four tons of thrust each. If you put two of them in one aircraft, and fired both guns forward while opening up the throttle, the guns would win and you’d accelerate backward. To put it another way: If I mounted a GAU-8 on my car, put the car in neutral, and started firing backward from a standstill, I would be breaking the interstate speed limit in less than three seconds. As good as this gun would be as a rocket pack engine, the Russians built one that would work even better. The Gryazev-Shipunov GSh-6-30 weighs half as much as the GAU-8 and has an even higher fire rate. Its thrust-to-weight ratio approaches 40, which means if you pointed one at the ground and fired, not only would it take off in a rapidly expanding spray of deadly metal fragments, but you would experience 40 gees of acceleration. [...] But if you somehow braced the human rider, made the craft strong enough to survive the acceleration, wrapped it in an aerodynamic shell, and made sure it was adequately cooled with a GSH-6-30, you could jump mountains."
It was a more up beat anime until that moment until it said this ain't what you signed up for but your here for the ride bitch because shits gonna get dark the cake is a lie and so is this
10:28 cool proposition, ultimately incorrect. The idea of relativity is NOT that it becomes harder to accelerate as you approach the speed of light. As an observer, the planet would be slowing its acceleration, but to the player, the planet would be continuing to accelerate at a normal 9.12 m/s^2. This is because the time for observers is remaining at a constant rate, while time is slowing down for the people on the planet, meaning the planet is technically slowing down, but for the player it has no effect. This means eventually it will feel like you are moving faster than what is physically possible (reaching planets thought to be multiple light years away in mere seconds), but the planets will now seem to be very close to the planet that you are on, so the speed would appear normal to your player. So what would actually happen is the stars above the player in the minecraft world would look closer to the player as time went on.
I've had this thought for a while, since gravity clearly has an effect on light, it makes me wonder if the gravity of a flat earth would be enough to bend light bouncing off distant points at a shallow angle to actually come back down to the surface over a long enough distance in effect making the flat earth surface actually look like a giant shallow bowl. I would imagine that if there was a large enough flat earth it might be a prominent enough effect to make it appear as if we were on the inside of a sphere with the horizon being a small circle up in the sky that looks like a hole in said sphere, lol.
ok seriously are we not going to talk about the matpat thing?! like the litterally made a video about the same thing in the same day, contradicting each other.
matpat tried to prove that a SQUARE planet would not work ShoddyCast showed to the fullest that a FLAT planet would work until you reach the speed of light it's two different thing on one videogame just go to youtube and write minecraft everyone copies shit this is a different topic and a better one if i can put my opinion even if gametheorist will probably find where i live and skin me alive for not liking matpat :p
the acceleration will only decrease from outside perspective. Because the speed will stretch time too, so the G forces will not change due to relativity. (Your argument would imply that your speed compared to an external frame of reference is detectable without comparing to the external frame, which is not. Because the G forces on your "spaceship" are internal to the "spaceship".) But that does not change your point at all. Chemical fuel is so ineffective anyway. It is somewhat better if you use a black-hole drive, or other more exotic propulsion device, but even that would not change things that much, because you are using propellant.
1:14 I love the way he speaks his profanity. It's just the way he says it: how self-assured and angry he sounds, the context of disproving something, and how he says it in a harmonious way that flows well.
don't they say earth is on the back of giraffes on the back of elephants on the back of a turtle? magic, magic explains it. we just haven't caught up the technological level of galactic turtles. i believe the earth is a 2 dimensional triangle, because mountains.... yeah
Well considering that gravity pulls with a force both based on distance and mass of the objects, the closer you got to the black hole, the faster you would accelerate. Also you run into the problem of passing through the Event Horizon after a while, which wouldn't be good.
This would only work to approximate normal gravity for a pretty short period of time. And only if the bottom of minecraft is pointed at the black hole. In truth you and minecraft would accelerate in to the black hole at nearly the same rate at first. This would create the illusion from your perspective that there wasn't any gravity worth speaking of at all. Pushing off of minecraft would send you hurling through the air. You'd never escape the black hole by jumping of course. But from your frame of reference the change of acceleration looks like micro gravity. The reality is you're just falling in a little bit slower than minecraft now. As you got closer to the black hole all kinds of really horrible things start to happen. Eventually the bottom of minecraft is being pulled much harder than the surface. Each layer of minecraft is stripped away from the others. Then the blocks themselves are ripped apart by the same tidal forces. Minecraft Steeve is long since dead by this point. He might be spared having his body torn in to micro sectons if the Black hole is feeding at the time. Then the astounding radioactivity of the accretion disk would fry him to death before he ever got that close.
A Troll Named Rod not a circle. You'd still be accelerating an an increasing rate, even when you don't seem to travel at all. The Speed of Light isn't a distance, it's a velocity. Eliminating the distance factor doesn't change the acceleration and velocity vector. I believe you are using the logic of inertia, which is an object's ability to resist a change in motion. However, even that is flawed, as an object closer to the center or rotation will not be moving as quickly as a person at the edge, the effect only getting more intense the closer the center or rotation. If this were the case, we would notice a very significant gravity difference from one pole to the next. Rotating the disk only adds more inertial force to the edges of the disk. Based on the logo of the flat earth society, people in the northern hemisphere would see the least difference in inertia, but the Southern Hemisphere would see the highest. Considering the gravity of earth is fairly consistent throughout the planet (again, relative), the rotation vector can't be it either. Basically, having a flat earth go around in a circle would create a very noticeable difference in g-forces towards the center of rotation. Not the center of the disk, the center or rotation. And that has little to do with gravity. That's physics for amateurs!
I'm pretty sure that it would be because if you were standing on it and it stopped accelerating, both you and the flat world would be drifting through space at the same speed. If you pushed off of it to try to walk or something, you would then be moving faster than your world, pretty much making you float away.
you would need acceleration to make that artificial gravity, as Jordan said if you just pushed off of the flat earth, you would be making your velocity greater than earths, basically meaning that there is no artificial gravity.
Dylan Maloney can I mention terminal velocity. In terms of gravity the acceleration stops at a certain point, which is terminal velocity. So, How would you reach the speed of light if capped by terminal velocity?
Dylan Maloney yea. I guess so. Another tangent. Wouldn't the floating mass end up impacting space bodies eventually, like an asteroid or another earth?
infinite lava and water possible through quantum theory. particles appear and disapear in other parts of the universe. this happens leading to the phenomenon that is infinite water or larva. i think i did this correctly but it is 1:44 am and my brain is sort of fuccked from needing sleep and a video on infinite numbers which the brain can't fully comprehend.
this is great show, but what about first law of gravity? if something moves and its not disturbed by any force, it keeps on moving and no power is needed to continue this motion (sorry, bad english)
Jakub Herbuś The problem with that is that the earth would need much more fuel to keep accelerating. When the fuel runs out, it would move at the same speed forever, so no G-Forces would be felt. The velocity would stay the same, but acceleration is needed to feel G-Forces.
No, we like Austin and MatPat. They do different things normally. Austin does a lot of analysis on how it would actually work and what would happen because of it, MatPat does things with a new idea and evidence within the lore of games to support his hypothesis/theory.
Even though I never played Minecraft, the world in the game is round, you can see at 4:12 that the stars come up on the horizon as the camera moves forward.
No, it doesn't. It does have a rendering border (which is basically a limitation set by your computer's strength and graphics settings you set ingame).
Because Minecraft actually, literally, occurs in a plane, if you could possibly render all the chunks at once, you could see till your resolution would no longer be high enough to determine any features. No horizon.
Actually relativity would only have the effect of reducing the acceleration from the perspective of a stationary observer, it would not do that for anyone on the accelerating world because relativity states that all reference frames are equivalent including ones that accelerate and/or spin.
I suddenly realized that something must be seriously wrong when the video said, "Your character will start floating off into space as you approach the speed of light." The obvious question is: the speed of light relative to what? There's no absolute way to measure anything's speed; speed can only be measured between two objects. So it's Minecraft world and what? And why should our choice of reference object affect the energy needs of Minecraft world's rockets?
True. There would be no *observable* effect due to relativity; the only observable effect of your increased speed would be that, as you speed up *relative to the stars*, their light would blueshift, into ultraviolet, X-rays, and eventually gamma rays. So apart from all life being gradually killed and then vaporised, it's all good!
When Austin said the Earth was flat, my mind was like," Is Austin taking drugs? Is he suffering from psychological disorders? IS HE GOING MAD?". Then he denies it 5 seconds later and all worries go away.
I think the worst part of these shows is the fact I now enter every social interaction by saying "Hi! It's Me, Woody!" Thanks Austin. Way to make such an awesome show I'm now subconsciously mimicking you.
KosherKitten I think he used the player character's falling speed to calculate gravity and then the gravity to calculate its size. Though how he got the surface area I don't know.
Maybe hes using console minecrafts? On PC it does go on infinitely until the file gets so large your computer cant handle it. I think even the issue of the badlands has been fixed which use to be considered the edge of the world. But that only because the algorithm started messing up pretty bad at that point.
The software can only generate a finite amount of chunks, which is why there's a barrier at at "edge" of the world, which is X/Z +/- 30,000,000. Go outside the barrier and it tries to keep going, but weird things start to happen. For all intensive purposes, that's the size of the world.
ikr come to the netherlands were you can smell the sea if you are just about to die from the sea(save the enviroment because the tempature is going to raise and the sea too we are all going to die) 😱😱😱😱
Super dense ? But you can mine obsidian , which is super strong , so how could you not mine bed rock? How strong would bedrock have to be for you to not be able to even scratch it with a diamond pick axe.
Totole But then the bottom of the world is super dense, whist the top is not, meaning that it'll probably collapse in on itself, creating a ball. Secondly, He doesn't even go into the fact that there is a 10 minute each day/night cycle, which would mean that the 'flat' planet would have to be spiralling, not traveling in a straight line, requiring RIDICULOUS Delta-V to sustain.
Actually they focused on different aspects of the Minecraft world theory. Shoddycast focused on could Minecraft's world be flat and Game Theory focused on could the Minecraft's world be cubed.
Thanks for the help with my physics homework. I knew I could come here for the difference between acceleration and velocity (also I can tell my parents I'm doing homework instead of watching videos)
Erattic8 in space there's hydrogen atoms creating friction, slowing it down. Even if you were to ignore that, it would keep on moving just not accelerating, meaning that gravity would work differently. It would move at a constant speed that wouldn't change, so you'd fall at a constant speed without accelerating, which is not how gravity works in minecraft or in real life (it is required for it to work in real life as well, because this whole theory's basis is the equivalence principle)
Using your logic, things would come to a stop when traveling in space, which would eliminate asteroids and comets, and the big bang theory wouldn't have actually worked, as things immediately started slowing down with friction to a standstill in space.
unidentified guy Things do slow down from friction, it's just that the forces that slow them are so insignificant that it won't cause a noticeable difference in speed over time
9:05 once it's moved that much in a vacuum (say in between galaxies) you would keep the same speed due to no forces changing your speed BECAUSE SCIENCE
5:59 even if it's spread out... you would calculate the gravitational attraction using F = Gm1m2/r^2 using you and the minecraft world as m1m2, and the distance between you and the centre of mass of the minecraft world as r, so the gravity is not negligible, and would get weaker as you got further away from the centre of mas as gravity gets weaker, and the gravity would be in the direction of the centre of mass, so it would be pulling you more and more sideways as you got closer to the edge
I have this theory that Minecraft is a future where nuclear bombs mutated and killed everyone (hence villagers are weird and monsters). And you are the last human(s) alive
I believe that your last part, about less and less acceleration being felt over time is only relative to an outside observer. To someone on the planet, the acceleration would keep going just fine.
Well I guess this makes sense. In some part of the universe there is a flat disc that is carried on the backs of 4 giant elephants which then in turn stand on a colossal sea turtle named A'Tuin.
There's also the issues of A) the moon's steady orbit, B) the sun's constant presence, and C) the stars not disappearing behind every horizon constantly.
You made one small error shoddy. If a body accelerates at 9.81 m/s^2 (acceleration due to gravity), it will take less than a year to reach the speed of light. V (final)= V0 (initial)+a*t. Since we know a, and make v= 299,792,458 m/s (speed of light), and v0=0 (starting from a dead stop) we find that to reach the speed of light takes approx. 30,559,883 seconds...divide by 60 seconds to give minutes...divide by 60 minutes to give hours, and finally by 24 hours to give days which equals 353.7 days. Also, to those out there stating that light still accelerates away from you at the speed of light from your frame of reference, that is true, BUT you are still accelerating at the speed of light in the reference frame of the universe, which has the speed of light speed limit.
Wait, if your in space and you are at relatively the same speed and it just stops, wouldn't keep going since there are no other natural sources in space?
There is only an invisible barrier that stops you from continuing. There are blocks after it, so you are limited to a part if the planet, not the entirety of it.
Thanks this helps alot! im doing a hw assessment disproving flat earth and by explain how eventually would have a mass and density of 2 juipters making the flat earth theory impossible can really help!!
Good video, but a few points: I would like to note that as the ship reaches relativistic speeds, it wouldn't actually "feel" like it's accelerating less, it would only appear from a stationary observer to be accelerating less. Because of the time dilation, you would still feel ~1g of acceleration the whole time. This is because you must always be consistent in your own reference frame. Sure, the sky might get blue shifted and meteorites would blow holes in the crust, but on the planet itself the world must remain consistent with itself. There's also a point about the rocket. As anyone who plays KSP well knows, Nuclear rocket engines (and to a lesser extent, other chemical rockets) can be far more efficient than the F-1 rocket engines of the Saturn V. While in the long run we still need planet-sized reaction mass, using a barrage of nuclear bombs (Orion Nuclear Pulse style) for propulsion or an open cycle gas core Nuclear Thermal Rocket would make the rocketworld considerably smaller in propellant mass. Perhaps it is more realistic to propose that Minecraft is on an absolutely huge, slow rotating centrifuge?

Also, grenade jumping in Halo 2 is kind of related.
Randall Munroe did a take on it on xkcd What If. I'll just quote him here:
"The GAU-8 Avenger fires up
to sixty one-pound bullets a second. It produces almost five tons of
recoil force, which is crazy considering that it’s mounted in a type of
plane (the A-10 "Warthog") whose two
engines produce only four tons of thrust each. If you put two of them in
one aircraft, and fired both guns forward while opening up the throttle,
the guns would win and you’d accelerate backward.
To put it another way: If I mounted a GAU-8 on my car, put the car in
neutral, and started firing backward from a standstill, I would be
breaking the interstate speed limit in less than three seconds.
As good as this gun would be as a rocket pack engine, the Russians built
one that would work even better. The Gryazev-Shipunov GSh-6-30 weighs
half as much as the GAU-8 and has an even higher fire rate. Its
thrust-to-weight ratio approaches 40, which means if you pointed one at
the ground and fired, not only would it take off in a rapidly expanding
spray of deadly metal fragments, but you would experience 40 gees of
acceleration.
[...]
But if you somehow braced the human rider, made the craft strong enough
to survive the acceleration, wrapped it in an aerodynamic shell, and
made sure it was adequately cooled with a GSH-6-30, you could jump mountains."

I've learned rocket science, it's actually not that hard. Well, that really depends on what field you're talking about.

I refuse to believe Austin and Matpat uploading videos about the SAME topic on the SAME day was a coincidence

The earth is flat you idiot...

I'm so glad that this wasn't just the same as game theory's video
even if it was, austin uploaded it first.
Game theory anounced this video a week ago.
Who cares?
9:09 Toriel, he's making a theory! XD
there is something oh so nice about hearing that classical opening. These videos are just too good Austin.
Rick and Morty fan confirmed.
IQ:9999
Ian S you should do a theory video on that! I’m interested.
ok seriously are we not going to talk about the matpat thing?! like the litterally made a video about the same thing in the same day, contradicting each other.
So...what you're saying is that you didn't watch the video, you just wrote a comment because of presumptions based on the title and thumbnail?
Game theory anounced this video a week ago.
Probably planned together to give interesting counter-arguments.
Twenty-Something Nerd yeah essentially, I wrote the comment like half way through the video, my bad. But at least the same thematic is there.
matpat tried to prove that a SQUARE planet would not work ShoddyCast showed to the fullest that a FLAT planet would work until you reach the speed of light it's two different thing on one videogame just go to youtube and write minecraft everyone copies shit this is a different topic and a better one if i can put my opinion even if gametheorist will probably find where i live and skin me alive for not liking matpat :p
9:17 when he said Delta Vee a few people had either a good chuckle or an epiphany
Wow... you and GT just did the same video. Well same topic.
But you both went in the complete opposite directions XD
RainMasterXD hmmmm...
Alex Barbu Because a flat world wouldn't make sense either in the end. Like Austin said it would end up being a sphere in the end anyway.
the acceleration will only decrease from outside perspective. Because the speed will stretch time too, so the G forces will not change due to relativity. (Your argument would imply that your speed compared to an external frame of reference is detectable without comparing to the external frame, which is not. Because the G forces on your "spaceship" are internal to the "spaceship".)
But that does not change your point at all. Chemical fuel is so ineffective anyway. It is somewhat better if you use a black-hole drive, or other more exotic propulsion device, but even that would not change things that much, because you are using propellant.
1:14 I love the way he speaks his profanity. It's just the way he says it: how self-assured and angry he sounds, the context of disproving something, and how he says it in a harmonious way that flows well.
don't they say earth is on the back of giraffes on the back of elephants on the back of a turtle? magic, magic explains it. we just haven't caught up the technological level of galactic turtles. i believe the earth is a 2 dimensional triangle, because mountains.... yeah
isn't a 2D triangle just a triangular flat world?
no no no its turtles all the way down.
We live on earth not discworld.
Also just imagine the force of those giraffe farts.
If Earth is a 2D triangle than the moon is just a grey Dorito.
8:11 Twice what we started with is 1.2e20kg more than what we ended up with.
That's almost fifty percent.
Simple solution: When you approach light speed slam on the breaks, so you can accelerate again. What could possibly go wrong?
What if the minecraft planet just accelarates towards a giant black hole at 9.1 m/s^2
Haha love it, this would make a great game ending.
Also the black hole would accelerate both the minecraft planet And its inhabitants, so your character would still be experiencing weightlessness.
EVERYONE TWEET THIS AT FLAT EARTH PEOPLE!
Saturn V: I am the most powerful rocket
The Soviet N1: Am I a joke to you?
Acceleration is a vector, so changing your direction counts as acceleration. You can just go in a circle, you don't actually have to keep speeding up.
Coriolis effect isn't observable in Minecraft
German Pepe... That's not how that works lol
10:28 Why can't it just go the same speed to keep the same gravity?
THE ZOMBIE TRAINER That is a good point, though. The planet wouldn't slow down because it has no friction to slow it down
I spent 2 days trying to find these episodes on game theory. I fought Austin and his SCIENCE episodes how no clipped into the backrooms
infinite lava and water possible through quantum theory. particles appear and disapear in other parts of the universe. this happens leading to the phenomenon that is infinite water or larva. i think i did this correctly but it is 1:44 am and my brain is sort of fuccked from needing sleep and a video on infinite numbers which the brain can't fully comprehend.
minecraft doesnt have infinite lava tho
+Fluorescentgreen5
It does, but it's less simple than infinte water.
You'd need to make a 3x3 lava field and always take out of the middle.
Gybbson Lesly that would create an equal amout of anti mater so you would have to destroy matter eventually
Gybbson Lesly 😂 in theory it is possible- but there would have to be very specific conditions.
6:50 Oh Austin, what a horrible rocket launch that was...
what is the Rocket thing he used in the vid?
It's a rocket, build in the amazing game Kerbal Soace Programm.
What else would it be?
I guess I didn't explain that very well, but I was asking about the game. and thanks
and that is why you use struts!
I love how at 7:27 the subtitles add a swear, even though Austin doesn't swear.
this is great show, but what about first law of gravity? if something moves and its not disturbed by any force, it keeps on moving and no power is needed to continue this motion (sorry, bad english)
Jakub Herbuś The problem with that is that the earth would need much more fuel to keep accelerating. When the fuel runs out, it would move at the same speed forever, so no G-Forces would be felt. The velocity would stay the same, but acceleration is needed to feel G-Forces.
O shit here come the matpat fanboys.
Hi
No, we like Austin and MatPat. They do different things normally. Austin does a lot of analysis on how it would actually work and what would happen because of it, MatPat does things with a new idea and evidence within the lore of games to support his hypothesis/theory.
Sup
I prefer both.
ThatOne Do you not understand sarcasm?
Even though I never played Minecraft, the world in the game is round, you can see at 4:12 that the stars come up on the horizon as the camera moves forward.
The first checkmate. Minecraft has a horizon.
.... Video cut down to a few minutes
Minecraft doesn't have a horizon... what could possibly make you think that?
do you know what a horizon is?
Underrated post.
Mr. Bacon nice bait
Cosmo Goblin 😂 lol
When Austin said the Earth was flat, my mind was like," Is Austin taking drugs? Is he suffering from psychological disorders? IS HE GOING MAD?". Then he denies it 5 seconds later and all worries go away.
That’s a lot of swearing compared to the GT versions
Ah, cursing Austin
I think the worst part of these shows is the fact I now enter every social interaction by saying "Hi! It's Me, Woody!"
Thanks Austin. Way to make such an awesome show I'm now subconsciously mimicking you.
I'm curious as to how you limited a technically infinite world to find a surface area for it
KosherKitten I think he used the player character's falling speed to calculate gravity and then the gravity to calculate its size. Though how he got the surface area I don't know.
Surface area is 60 billion squared square meters. That's where the border is
Maybe hes using console minecrafts? On PC it does go on infinitely until the file gets so large your computer cant handle it. I think even the issue of the badlands has been fixed which use to be considered the edge of the world. But that only because the algorithm started messing up pretty bad at that point.
Minecraft has a limit at like 30 million blocks where you can't get past
The software can only generate a finite amount of chunks, which is why there's a barrier at at "edge" of the world, which is X/Z +/- 30,000,000. Go outside the barrier and it tries to keep going, but weird things start to happen. For all intensive purposes, that's the size of the world.
If you want to experience a flat earth. You should come to Denmark! the highest point is 170.86 m (561 ft) Thats even more flat than minecraft :D

hey Shoddy.
Maybe bedrock is just super dense and is acting like the core of a planet.
Super dense ? But you can mine obsidian , which is super strong , so how could you not mine bed rock? How strong would bedrock have to be for you to not be able to even scratch it with a diamond pick axe.
Diamond is strong but not hard. Obsidian and bedrock are also clearly different materials with no comparison able to be done.
maybe it wasn't bedrock they have redstone and redstone doesn't exist
Totole But then the bottom of the world is super dense, whist the top is not, meaning that it'll probably collapse in on itself, creating a ball. Secondly, He doesn't even go into the fact that there is a 10 minute each day/night cycle, which would mean that the 'flat' planet would have to be spiralling, not traveling in a straight line, requiring RIDICULOUS Delta-V to sustain.
I wasn't talking about flat-earth here. I was just saying that the bedrock could be what is the "core" of minecraft's planet.
Why the fuck did Austin and matpat make a video of minecraft about flat earth theory and On the same fuckkkkking day -_-
it made me chuckle that while you were talking about good anime, there was a screenshot for rasario vampire on the screen
I Don't Get It.
Don’t worry, I do :)
Game Theory just dissproved your video like 30 minutes ago.
No, more like proved it, and created a solution. Aka they both were right.
And you trust GT? Are you alright?
Actually they focused on different aspects of the Minecraft world theory. Shoddycast focused on could Minecraft's world be flat and Game Theory focused on could the Minecraft's world be cubed.
Mate, I do trust them, that doesn't mean I don't fact check. Fact check most science videos I watch. When you make your own it's what you do.

Thanks for the help with my physics homework. I knew I could come here for the difference between acceleration and velocity (also I can tell my parents I'm doing homework instead of watching videos)
but you are in space.........You would only have to accelerate it for one second because objects in motion tend to stay in motion
Erattic8 in space there's hydrogen atoms creating friction, slowing it down. Even if you were to ignore that, it would keep on moving just not accelerating, meaning that gravity would work differently. It would move at a constant speed that wouldn't change, so you'd fall at a constant speed without accelerating, which is not how gravity works in minecraft or in real life (it is required for it to work in real life as well, because this whole theory's basis is the equivalence principle)
hydrogen? arent you flying trough vaccum?
Jakub Herbuś a vacuum still has particles, the least dense region in space is 1 molecule per cubic meter
Using your logic, things would come to a stop when traveling in space, which would eliminate asteroids and comets, and the big bang theory wouldn't have actually worked, as things immediately started slowing down with friction to a standstill in space.
unidentified guy Things do slow down from friction, it's just that the forces that slow them are so insignificant that it won't cause a noticeable difference in speed over time
try no game no life its an epic anime
"Does Minecraft prove Earth could be FLAT?" I live in a constant state of fear and misery.
I believe that your last part, about less and less acceleration being felt over time is only relative to an outside observer. To someone on the planet, the acceleration would keep going just fine.
I was waiting for you to get to the 'acceleration isn't speed' thing from the moment you mentioned it would be a block flying through space.
Well I guess this makes sense. In some part of the universe there is a flat disc that is carried on the backs of 4 giant elephants which then in turn stand on a colossal sea turtle named A'Tuin.
Send this to the flat earthers Facebook page and see what happens
Why is there we wish you a merry Christmas playing in the background of "AMERICA"
There's also the issues of A) the moon's steady orbit, B) the sun's constant presence, and C) the stars not disappearing behind every horizon constantly.
funny Austin, you upload a video about this, a couple of days later than Matthew.
Most entertaining coincidence I've seen in a while xD
You should do a short video series on the all the tech of Arpeggio of blue steel: Ars Nova
*me getting used to austin doing gametheory videos and coming over here:* wait what
You made one small error shoddy.
1:40 I actually pointed this out about flat earth, like... Months ago. ×D
Thanks this helps alot! im doing a hw assessment disproving flat earth and by explain how eventually would have a mass and density of 2 juipters making the flat earth theory impossible can really help!!
Good video, but a few points:
I would like to note that as the ship reaches relativistic speeds, it wouldn't actually "feel" like it's accelerating less, it would only appear from a stationary observer to be accelerating less.
This is what happens when Deadpool fills in for Bill Nye for the day.
