I gotta say, going down the sleep token rabbit hole will not disappoint in the slightest. Vessel (lead singer/founder) has a very unique way with lyrics and i know you guys love to dive deep into the lyrics of what you react too. would make for some good reactions o/ there mix of rap/rnb and metal/ ambience metal is solid as well. Some of the best Accensionism, Take me back to Eden, Dark signs are a few i would recommend next. Worship!
Welcome to the rabbit hole, it's real deep, I heard one song from them and bought 4 of their albums and downloaded the Jaws single also, been playing them non-stop for like 6 weeks. You are going to like these two guys.
Yeah the whole album is actually a concept album about a relationship that doesnt seem to be working out. Theres ups and downs but ultimately, as expressed in this track, the woman doesnt seem to really want or care about the relationship. She always seems distant and disingenuous in expressing her feelings, like she's not really there, which lends to the ghostly concept. Such a cool metaphor, Vessel and Sleep Token are real artists. Respect to them and all who get the experience them. 🙏
I first heard this song last Friday, and it has consumed me. I can’t stop listening to it and seeing how others react to it. It’s absolutely beautiful. Sleep Token is such an incredible band, and I have Will Ramos (from Lorna Shore) to thank for doing his cover of one of their songs.
I wouldn’t say the person vessel is talking about is dead but rather this person continues to pop up in his life or in his head/dreams. He either wants this person to completely drop out of his life and memory or take him back into a relationship. This band is something else. Glad they took me to your channel 🤙🏻
"Are you really ok" ... it´s the sadest song I´ve ever heard in my life on the new "Sleep Token" Album. I was sittin in my car driving, the song flooded my .... So if you wanna review that, you need handkerchiefs.
Whenever I hear this song I think about Jennie from Forest Gump for some reason. Forest was clearly in love with her but she didn't really want anything to do with him romantically but would pop up in his life and he would literally drop everything or go to crazy lengths just to be near her. I can't really compare it to anything in my life as I'm pretty straight forward and if someone is giving me that uncertain vibe I would just cut it cause it wasn't worth the effort most of the time.
Yeah but thats if you take the cult bullshit literal. Its obvious as hell while there could be a on the surface cult thing going on with there songs if you see it that way, theres ZERO way around it having a more down to earth meaning. A big theme of sundowning was Alzheimers/Dementia, hell thats why the albums called Sundowning, a fucked up thing that people with alzheimers go through before they die. Look at Higher, that song is clearly talking about dealing with a loved one and caring for a loved one with Alzheimers. It’s pretty clear The Apparition can be taken as the god of sleep(tho the song in that sense would also be saying Sleep isnt a real) but it also and clearly means a lover who’s flakey as hell and inconsistent and is unwilling to be serious. Could also be seen as a dead lover and seeing them in your sleep but not being able to move on and talking to the dream version of them.
From the lyrical point of view - I wonder, is it only me thinking that the the point of view presented in the the text defines as "I am ok being passive"? I think that the text shows dreamy attitude and approach. I feel sadness transmitted together with lack of passion. In my perception its more about obsessive state of mind together with artistic illustration of it.
Nah, I think this track did a rare thing for Sleep Token. Meaning it's pretty straightforward all things considered, simply meaning her memory is latched onto Vessel and everytime she comes back, either in mind or person, it brings a new level of pain
You're both kinda right, they had a very toxic relationship specifically from her side, she kept leaving him but never allowed him to leave, the only good memories they had was when they were having sex, then she died in a car accident because of a fight they were having, he survived the crash... Their whole discography is about their relationship.
Car accident? I remember the line in granite “I was more than just a body in your passenger seat”. Did they reveal the story from an interview or smthing?
One of the greatest albums I have ever heard and that's an absolutely bold statement that I will stand behind. Awesome from start to finish.
I concur 🤘 ✌️
What he said.
yep
What are the other contenders?

Also, as a follow up: If you liked this, "Acensionism" and "Take Me Back To Eden" will blow your minds completely.

Y'all have been sleeping on Sleep Token. Glad to see you guys awake and joining the party.
Sleep Token is amazing. Sori likes Vessel because his voice is deep like Peter Steele of Type O -
Been following you guys for years. I always find it funny we usually are hype about the same songs and bands.
Please do Sleep Token - Ascensionism
Love Sleep Token. The whole album is amazing
The very best song ❤️

Yes absolutely. FG is one of my absolute favorite movies.
Vessel fell in love with a deity that appears in his dreams, 3 albums around this concept
Time for Ascensionism and Take Me Back To Eden 😌 you're not ready.
Do more sleep token...the best
Yes! Do more ST please! Worship!!!
Sleep Token is a reference to the Deity of sleep and Token is the offering. She provides the blessing of dreams and the curse of nightmares.

Please check out “Avenged sevenfold-cosmic” such a beautiful song!
Can you please react to Diamonds and Poland by Marilyn Manson? The Lyrics are super deep, i would love to see your take on it. Hugs from Portugal

thank god i got strong heart, or that breakdown would end me! sheesh...
They sound like Imagine Dragons going Metal, and that's not supposed to be a compliment
